The problem is with the 'rectangular marquee tool' ... after I select a box, the tool defaults to a marquee that eliminates a portion of the first selected box. The curser changes to show the '+' curser with an 'x' in the lower right of the cursor.

View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing Photoshop CS v8.0 on XP Home....
Whenever I try to use the Rectangular Marquee or Crop tools, they're stuck in a portrait style (looks like the aspect ratio of a regular sheet of paper). I can't make a square or a landscape-type rectangle. Furthermore, on the crop tool I'm not getting the handles where I can adjust the size of the crop box. When I try to make the shape bigger the top and bottom edges go completely off the canvas. This problem has happened a couple of times and usually corrects itself when I reboot, but this time it hasn't. I've probably got a setting wrong somewhere.
I use Photoshop 7.0, I use the marquee tool frequently. It always used to have straight corners, but the past week it has started to automatically do round corners. I haven't changed any settings. Why does this happen? I can mention that I use InDesign CS2. I have worked a lot with rectangles with round corners there recently, but every time changed the corners manually. After a couple of weeks though the program started to automatically change every rectangle to round corners. I didn't know how to change this, but after a couple of weeks it went back to straight corners automatically. I use Windows Vista. Initially there was some problems to make it go with Photoshop and InDesign, but now it works fine most of the time.

Ive tried loading everthing & anything & nothing, and after that i went to PS 7 help files and it says it has this option under (image ready). Is "image ready" an additional software i need to add to get this rounded rectangular marquee tool to work. I just want to make a simple rounded cube.
