Second one: Is there a way I can Load selection and use the rectangular marquee tool in photoshop CS6? I tried holding shift then doing it but no luck.
The problem is with the 'rectangular marquee tool' ... after I select a box, the tool defaults to a marquee that eliminates a portion of the first selected box. The curser changes to show the '+' curser with an 'x' in the lower right of the cursor.

When I select an area with the rectangular marquee tool a window with the following text appears:
"Warning. No pixels are more than 50% selected, the selection edges will not be visible"
When I close the warning window the selection is no longer indicated.
When I use the rectangular marquee to crop a picture it now has rounded corners.
This has never happened before.
How do I get back to the square corners.

Why might the Marquee Tool be stuck on rectangular? I can't access Elliptical or the other types.
When I use the "Rectangular Marquee Tool" with my mouse, it is often difficult to do it accurately. Is there an easier way to do it than with the mouse, - can I manually enter the size of my selection .

Using the rectangular selection tool, how can I specify an exact area to select? Say, for example, I want to select the area defined by (0,0), (100,0), (100,100) & (0,100), how would I do this?
I'm using Photoshop CS6 on a Mac with OSX 10.8.3.
I have CS6 on two Mac computers, a desktop and a laptop. On the desktop, everytime I draw a Rectangular Marquee, a very distracting black box with dimensions comes on at the lower right corner of the selection. This does not happen with CS6 on my laptop. I can't find a control to turn this box off. Where is it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have CS2 on Windows XP. For some reason (probably operator error) I can no longer move the Rectangular Marquee Tool in a fixed size mode arond my picture. When I expand it to, for example, 8.5" x 11" it just sits there.
I used to be able to expand it, then move it about the photo until I got it where I wanted to do the crop.Does anyone have any ideas what has happened? Also I notice that the crosshairs now have a little bar in the lower right quadrant when I roll my cursor on the photo. Not sure if that is significant.
I can select the Quick Selection Tool, which then presents the Quick Selection Tool and the Selecton Brush Tool options in the Tool Options bar (bottom left corner). But nowhere is there an option for rectangular marquee tool or elliptical tool. (This is for Elements 12)

having drawn a rounded rectangle I'm trying to set it to a precise size -
do I have to rasterize it first or am I as ususal missing something.
I'm trying to use the rect marquee tool to do a selection and then crop a photo but when I do nothing happens.
A couple of strange things have/are happening:
-At one point, while I was in transform selection I there was added space around the marquee, which became the new edge, as opposed to the marquee itself.
-The marquee is in the shape of a rounded rectangle.
Every time I try to move a section of a photo with the Rectangular Marquee Tool, I get an error message saying "Less than 50% of the pixels have been selected and they edges of the sections cannot be seen. What am I doing wrong?
