Revit :: Error While Collaborating / Square Feet Per Foot
Nov 1, 2012
We are collaborating in Revit. While working in a local file, everything seems to be moving along well. After a little while, if we try to save and/or synchronize with the central file, we get the error message; "square feet per foot." We then get another warning that says the file was not saved. We are unable to save of synchronize. The work-around we have come up with is to save as a new local file. This works for some time... saving and synchronizing without problem - but only for a while.
In Civil 3D 2013, when I execute the _area command, i get results in square feet as opposed to acres. Under the ambient settings, the area unit is set to acre. how to get C3D to display my area in acres? I just want it to list the area, not label it.
Also, is there a way to get it to display the area in BOTH acres and square feet?
I was just wondering why when I try and calculate an area using a polyine, I am getting a readout of 1.80401967E+07, when I have it set to give me the calculation in square feet? It is an area of approx. 246 Acres.....is this because the area is so large? I am not sure what the "E" stands for or the "+07" at the end....
I am battling is bringing in LiDAR files from ArcGIS. I have tried TXT and ASC, and they both seem to only maintain the elevation to the nearest foot, as you can see in the attached image.
What is strange, is that when the file is brought back into GIS, this issue is a problem. Is there a setting for reducing the amount of units when importing data? The text file as I shared has data to the thousandth.
When drawing using imperial units in Revit, it of course interprets values you input as feet until you press " to let it know you mean inches. As I am constantly going between Revit and AutoCAD, which does the opposite, I keep missing the " out of habit and wasting time repeating everything. My question is, is there a way to change the input from feet to inches so I can move more seamlessly between the two programs?
I am fairly new to my current employment. Their default for door thickness in the schedule does not suppress zero feet. Every dimension under the thickness column reads 0'-2" instead of just 2" or whatever the thickness may be. I could just make a new parameter, but I was hoping to edit the current thickness parameter.
Is there a way to make AutoCAD2012 display the area of a closed Polyline as Feet- Inch(ex 22'-4") rather than the feet as a decimal (ex feet=22.3333333) as it does when the units are set to Architectural or Engineering?
I am cutting a dormer in a roof with a square rafter cut. I want the dormer to be plumb cut. Is there any way to do this? The property seems to be set for the entire roof.
I have someone who wants to make a six foot print of one of my images. Will a 50mb image be large enough? If not, they will need to enlarge on their end (UK). How big will they need to make it.?
I used the free select tool to free select an area of an image that is not a square (odd shape), how do I make that selection a perfect square if pasted to new image or new layer??? rectangular would be fine too...
I have a form with some textbox on it, which should be filled in with imperial dimension. Like foot and inch. Users right now complain about it is not user friendly ,to put data in form, and honestly they are right. I didn't a good job .
Some people like to put vetting in inch and then by the time textbox lost it focus it should automatically convert data to feet-inch format. Some other user like to put decimal I have to be able to should them in 1/8 inch.
some user like to use space as separator between foot and inch and some other like to use dash.
Bottom line I stocked. Is there any function for this in autocad ?
when I look at my code I just struggled with pure string. I thought maybe there is something in autocad which give developer this option. Like the way we input dimension in command prompt.
Looking to see if any out there has a "Double Rolling Chain Link Fence Detail for opennings greater than 25 feet" who does not mind sharing. Although I have seen a double cantelever sliding gate of geater openning width, Of all my years in the building modelling field I had never seen a detail, or an actual gate for that matter. This is for a regular galvanized chain link fence construction. My search online has been fruitless.

I have a character on a monocycle and what we did was constraining stuff to stuff which I didn't quite understand. Understanding it is not so important for now, it should work in the first place - but doesn't.
We - pushed the pedals out of the monocycle structure in outliner - constraintoint the foot to the pedal - constraintoint the pedal to the wheel axis - constraintrient the ankle joint to the pedal - constraintoint the ikHandle to the pedal.
correct the list above if you feel there's a mistake.
Now that we've pushed the pedal out of its place in the monocycle structure, I don't know what to do with it. When i place it where it was before it won't work properly. Perhaps I have to do further steps but this is all I got in class yesterday.
I'm using CS3 with a new computer and a 17in crt monitor. I set the monitor resolution via windows to 1280x1024. Made a 4 in square in Photoshop. It's square. When I change the resolution to anything less than 1280x1024 the square is taller than wide. It still shows 4x4 inches with the rulers.
I'm trying to utilize Revit ability to link an IES file as a lighting source in a lighting family. I'm running Revit Architecturer 2009. The ies files i downloaded from the manufacturer website produce an image inconsistent with what i would expect a light source to provide, instead of the "white" light, i get a red/green/black/blue image. I can link any of the ies files that are provide with Revit, and they work fine. it's only this Manufacturer provide file that's causing the error.
I was working on a file earlier today when it failed while processing after I edited a particularly extensive mass. It asked if I wanted to save a recovery file, I said yes, but I am not sure it worked properly (it might have said 'could not be saved' but i clicked 'OK' quickly so i could re-open revit and get on with work)
Anyways, when I went back to start again it said I had to manually recover the file and that I should ask Autodesk support. I looked on forums and they said i should go to the 'open' dialogue box, check the 'audit' box and reopen the file, but after doing this I got a second error message that said something along the lines of "your file has an incorrect schema'.
This project is not part of any collaboration, it's standalone and on my home PC.I couldn't find any email to write to, or number to call, or FAQ, so here I am.
This is the third damned problem I've had with this file, might have something to do with a trojan on my computer chewing into my RAM but whatever the case it's time this crap stopped!
I am trying to print from revit 2013 and every time I try and to print a sheet, view, or anything the program crashes saying "unrecoverable error". I have tried updating the software, reinstalling the software, and the error still continues.
This morning when I started Revit 2013 and tried to open a file that I was working on last night, I got this error: "encountered an improper argument." The file will not open.
I tried to open a different file, and I get another error saying "An unrecoverable error has occured. The program will now be terminated.... " Revit will close.
I cannot open any files, or get Revit to run. Is my installation corrupt? Do I need to re-install or is it possible to try a repair?
20 times now when i've tried to render to cloud i get the same fatal error message and tried this on different computer as well. it was fine and then tried one render and keep getting same message - see attachment.
