I created a 3d model, and is now trying to put the views on a layout. There seems to be something that causes the view to overlap itself. I have attached a screenshot of the model & layout respectively. On the layout the color members are the ones not supposed to be there. I have printed the layout, and the result is the same as the screenshot.
View 6 RepliesI have an AutoCAD drawing (I did not create it) of a proposed trail in my city, and I've been tasked with making some kind of model or render of a section of it. I'm at a loss for how to even start, unfortunately. In the end I would like to have an accurate 3D model of a boardwalk section of the trail with surrounding terrain. I have Sketchup, Google Earth, and Revit at my disposal.
My first problem is topography. When I import the CAD drawing to Revit it seems there is some topographical data, which will be needed to realistically build the boardwalk on top of. I was able to get the terrain of the area into Sketchup from Google Earth, but then I don't know exactly where to build the model.
I've attached an image of a floor I created in the outline of the boardwalk. The area in question begins at the two handicap parking stalls (represented as the two blue towers for some hilarious reason) and ends at the second square (a viewing platform). My preferred method would be get an accurate topograhic site in Revit, build the boardwalk, and then place surrounding vegetation so I can get some renders.
EDIT: I've attached "Screenshot 2" which shows I found I was able to create terrain in Revit by selecting a layer of the CAD file. However that layer is suspended above, and my placeholder floor is underneath. Now I just need to get the floor (representing the boardwalk) to go along the terrain.
I'm trying to export layouts to model space. Everything is fine except that I have items grouped in in the original drawing that are not in the new drawing. I don't want to change all the groups to blocks.

I've been experiencing an odd problem with Xref's lately in AutoCAD 2006LT. I noticed that some of the layers in my viewports are missing. I have unloaded the xref, purged the drawing and reloaded the xref and each time it comes back up missing the majority of the layers in the external reference. I've checked to make sure that there are no xref's associated with the xref file to ensure that it's not an issue with a sub xref as well. I have downloaded a trial copy of 2013 and it mentions unreconciled layers and shows all layers in the view ports. In my troubleshooting I've checked for frozen layers, layers turned off, the location of Xref'ed files, ensured that no xref’s are on frozen or turned off layers and several other possible problems.
What seems strange to me is that I can see a few layers but not all layers associated with the xref in AutoCAD 2006LT. I've also checked to make sure that the layers are not frozen in the viewport as well. I use that feature often and depend on it for the drawing that I do.
If I start a drawing from scratch or go back several generations I can see all the layers just fine. It only seems to affect the latest generation of this current projects files.
Multiple layouts in model space suddenly stopped showing boundaries.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOur company has lots of drawings/part-numbers that have anywhere from 2-9 sheets. These are all saved as individual .dwg files. I am looking to Xref the "extra" files in one main file and make layouts of those Xrefs for ease of plotting.
As we only have LT, we obviosly can't use the "Sheet Set Manager", and this is the best way I know how to do this. Is there a fast way of creating layouts (other than right clicking and selecting "Page Setup Manager"?
Or maybe I should say it this way: What do you thing is the best way of going about this venture.
I am trying to organize my drawing in model into different viewports for printing purposes. However, in Layout # 1, once I delete an item it also deletes the item in model space. In Layout # 2, can't edit, select, highlight or anything ( I am in Layer 0). How can I fix that ? Basically, I want to create several layouts, each layout will contain a certain section of my drawing in model space then. I am not "layout savvy", trying to get hang of it.

I've got the form to pass the value as to the function as an argument but an not sure how to get the function to automatically generate "x" amount of Layouts based on the value of "int x". Right now i've just got a few "if" statements controlling the system, but i'm looking for a more elegant solution than a sea of "if" statements.

I'm creating/selecting plot settings and apply them to my layouts.
The problem is when I open the plot dialog, the name of the page setup is not displayed. when I select the page setup name just created from the combobox, the setup is applied but the name still missing.
But this issue only combined with the new plot settings created in program. The existing page setups manually added from plot dialog are ok.The difference between the two type of plot settings is the .ISMODIFIED property is true for new settings but false for existing settings.
How can I make the plot settings not modified.
Why the layouts are not exported?why the layout are not exported when applying the command “Export”? why only one layout is exported?

when i go to preview plot after selecting D size, scale isn't correct. how do i change to correct scale for plotting after i've scaled each view in paper space. please see attached drawing.

I have a drawing with 72 layouts in it. I also have two drawings with one layout each, that I want to appear in the first drawing. How do I import the layouts from one drawing to the next? I found, "to import layouts as sheets", but it does not seem to be what I need.

If not, where might I find MDT 2005. I have looked everywhere and it seems to be non existant. It would be alot faster than rebuilding anew in inventor and engineers hate to redo something alredy done correctly.
after 2013 was installed in my colleagues computer he now has the option to include Layouts when opening the publishing command, which didn't happen before. It is a slight pain removing these from the selection to be published and I was wondering how I get it to only select models and not layouts when opening the publish command as default.

My question is:
Is it possible to (and how do I) create a 3D model of a ground surface from field survey data which has been collected. The data i have is currently in Leica GSI format, and has x, y and z coordinates. I can easily transfer this into a .csv file i necessary.
I am trying to create a model of a city street surface using Autocad 2013. I think that perhaps the "network" surface command might work. Although the surface of a street looks simple, it is quite complex because of the need to drain the street of water. The corners are particularly difficult because the surface needs to be a continuous smooth curve while at the same time changing the direction of the surface slant.
I have attached a jpg of a model I created in Maya. I can export this to Autocad, but it is not particularly accurate and I need to create the model in Autocad at my job where they do not use Maya.
I have made a 3d model of my balcony by simply extruding the steel profiles I used in my sections. I then used the union command to join them all together.
I now think and exploded isometric may be the better way to present the drawing but as I have now made the frame all one element what is the best way to seperate it?
the corners I think will be easy I just create a planar at 45 degrees and use that to split the corners but is there an easy way to seperate the mid PFC and angle?
Im trying to create projections of the 3D model with the VIEWBASE command, is it possible to assign it to part of the model?

I have never done any 3d modeling in autocad before it took me a few days just to get the wireframe of a staircase done! I have tried to render this object in viewport but it disappears after I click on it or move around, therefore I cannot see it in my paper layout. How do I make a rendered object stay? Also I want to plot this on 22x34in and 11x17in paper, how would I go about getting a high quality rendered image. I am using autocad 2010.

How can I position the viewports within each of the rooms to give me a 2D Elevation?
working with acad 2012 and not having good luck with links and functionality with excel. tried the links manager,pasting excel/entities. trying to insert separate files in model space in essence creating multiple cut lists for the drawing. Is there a tutorial that goes in depth with this? just froze one file at work, lucked out and opened at home. Each cut list is an individual worksheet, which may be the problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen creating text in model space it appears both mirrored and rotated 90 degrees to the horizontal. However, when I create text in paper space it is fine. I have tried looking at the properties for the text but although I can find a place to rotate the text back to the horizontal it is still mirrored and therefore unreadable.
When I copy paste stuff from one document to another this also occurs.

I am able to select the entire object but when I attempt to move/ create the array...pieces split and go in different directions.
