I have a 3D model from a floor of a building, with 20 rooms on this floor. I have 3D blocks inserted as furniture for each of the rooms and want to create elevations from inside these rooms looking at the 4 walls to show the layout.
How can I position the viewports within each of the rooms to give me a 2D Elevation?
When working with multiple building pads and configurations change rapidly. Is there a method to add a Block or Xref into a Civil3D Surface under Drawing Objects? If so, how could you do it.
I want to have a building block type 1 that I can update the block or xref then updates the surface rather than doing each one individually. The Block would have a FFE of 0.00 and then the stoops, etc would either be a 0.1 drop or so.
I have a large building project with multiple linked files (building split into blocks plus furniture etc models) with shared co-ordinates. All are working fine except one which happens to be a furniture and equipment model. When sections and/or elevations are placed in either the host or the linked file the views do not corrospond with the cut line of the section or view line of the elevation, for example if I place an elevation within a room the elevation looks as if it has been placed in a different position some metres away. When the files are linked within each other using the shared co-ordinates they place themselves in plan and elevation perfectly. I am trying to create room elevations to show furniture/equipment layouts and this is making it impossible!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to x-ref a building model that was drawn in 2013 MEP in a Civil3D drawing that contains the site surface. When I x-ref my building model into the site drawing and attempt to align and scale the building some of my walls become broken and missing. I have a feeling this is a scaling issue because on my site my north wall should be 24' long. The wall is 24' long in MEP, but that same 24' from Civil3D is only a 2' line segment in MEP. How to remedy this? I have tried scale the building model down in MEP first and it causes all kinds of problems with the door and window objects. I tried adjusting the x-ref scale prior to adding the x-ref and it does the same thing.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am creating a schedule to pick up the room areas and additional information to do with artificial lighting. That bit is the easy bit.
What I am trying to do is put a column in the schedule that shows how many light points are within that particular space. I have looked into ticking the quantity box, but that picks up just the spaces. If there was a way that this could be used to pick up the blocks in a particular space, and not the spaces that would be the simplest way to solve this (I think anyway).
Just to let you know, I am using Dynamic Blocks for the light fittings. As I can have all the different types within the one block. I have heard that I can do this using the MultiView blocks (I haven't explored this yet), but the amount of blocks that I need is going to be increased (from what I know about MultiView blocks). The simpler this is, the better I believe.
I have tried using Count under the Automaitc Property, but when used, adds the blocks as an extra row, not into the desired column. I may have to add something to the block to get it to do what I want it to do, but don't know how to do this. At the moment, I am putting this information manually into the space properties.
The next part to my question, and again, I maybe asking a bit too much here, but I want to take two totals from two different columns to create an average. If I could do this in the one table, fantastic! If I have to create a second schedule to pick this up, that is ok I suppose, but I would then do the math for it manually and just write it in if that was the case.

I have a existing surface. I want to create a proposal surface so I can know the volume between boths. This proposal surface is represent for a disposal area that can be filled up to a elevation. I have a bottom of P-surface as a feature line at EL 1608, and I want top of P-surface to EL 1613.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI designed an upholstered furniture with curved surfaces. When I generate sections or elevation I'll see the invisible edges on curved surfaces! Is there a way to get the same result as the object viewer hidden line (or shaded with edges)?
2nd question. is there a way to control how many steps the surfaces are tessellated? The outline is not very smooth!

I need to export a model of a historic building from 3ds max to Quest 3D and create a walk through. The model is very detailed and was not designed with my goal in mind. My job for now is to optimize and remove all unnecessary things from the model.
I got stuck very early on when I tried to bake the textures. I'm using VRay rendered and when I pick a certain object to render and use VrayCompleteMap element the rendered image always appears completely black.
I have problem when i try to use function analyze mass model in revit building they show message like attached file.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am editing an old file set up by another firm that is used by our clients to keep track of room sizes etc, which has a room data table and room tags tied to area polylines. It has worked just fine on our 2013 Acad Architecture, but when I sent them (saved down to 2010) back to our client, using 2012 Acad Architecture, the tags disappear and the table is unpopulated.It seems like it must have something to do with the file originally being created way back when, along with some quirk between 2012 and 2013.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using Revit Architecture 2012 and I am trying to create a Room Tag. I have attached the file below. I want the tag to read the room name and the room dimensions. Then I would like an option to turn "Unfinished" on and off. I can get this to work as long as it is a type parameter. When I load it into the project it works well and everything is there. But if I change it to an instance parameter (which is what I want) then when I load it into the project the option to turn the "Unfinished" on and off has disappeared.

While creating this bandset I see that the text component editor properties only has code for profile 1 elevation and profile 2 elevation in the properties area, which the code for this looks like below.

Ive tried to write my own code using the profile 2 as an example but it doesnt seem to work as a 3rd surface/profile and only seems to mimic the profile 2 elevation when placed in the band
My questions are as follows
1) does Civil 3d only allow 2 surface elevations in any band set? if it does allow more profiles/surface elevations what am i missing to create it?
2) if Civil 3d does alow for multiple surfaces to be shown in the band set how do i get the text component editor to supply the extra profile elevation codes? or would i need to create from scratch
3) if i need to write the code from scratch does any listing of the codes and meanings of each code ie what does RN, Uft, Sn and so forth do and mean .
I have a project in wich rooms functionality is compromised. I don't know why the room tool doesn't recognise a simple room delimited by walls whose property divides rooms is set to yes. If I place a rectangle of rooms delimiters the room tool works properly instead. If I start a new project the tool works properly.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an AutoCAD drawing (I did not create it) of a proposed trail in my city, and I've been tasked with making some kind of model or render of a section of it. I'm at a loss for how to even start, unfortunately. In the end I would like to have an accurate 3D model of a boardwalk section of the trail with surrounding terrain. I have Sketchup, Google Earth, and Revit at my disposal.
My first problem is topography. When I import the CAD drawing to Revit it seems there is some topographical data, which will be needed to realistically build the boardwalk on top of. I was able to get the terrain of the area into Sketchup from Google Earth, but then I don't know exactly where to build the model.
I've attached an image of a floor I created in the outline of the boardwalk. The area in question begins at the two handicap parking stalls (represented as the two blue towers for some hilarious reason) and ends at the second square (a viewing platform). My preferred method would be get an accurate topograhic site in Revit, build the boardwalk, and then place surrounding vegetation so I can get some renders.
EDIT: I've attached "Screenshot 2" which shows I found I was able to create terrain in Revit by selecting a layer of the CAD file. However that layer is suspended above, and my placeholder floor is underneath. Now I just need to get the floor (representing the boardwalk) to go along the terrain.
I created a 3d model, and is now trying to put the views on a layout. There seems to be something that causes the view to overlap itself. I have attached a screenshot of the model & layout respectively. On the layout the color members are the ones not supposed to be there. I have printed the layout, and the result is the same as the screenshot.

My question is:
Is it possible to (and how do I) create a 3D model of a ground surface from field survey data which has been collected. The data i have is currently in Leica GSI format, and has x, y and z coordinates. I can easily transfer this into a .csv file i necessary.
I am trying to create a model of a city street surface using Autocad 2013. I think that perhaps the "network" surface command might work. Although the surface of a street looks simple, it is quite complex because of the need to drain the street of water. The corners are particularly difficult because the surface needs to be a continuous smooth curve while at the same time changing the direction of the surface slant.
I have attached a jpg of a model I created in Maya. I can export this to Autocad, but it is not particularly accurate and I need to create the model in Autocad at my job where they do not use Maya.
I have made a 3d model of my balcony by simply extruding the steel profiles I used in my sections. I then used the union command to join them all together.
I now think and exploded isometric may be the better way to present the drawing but as I have now made the frame all one element what is the best way to seperate it?
the corners I think will be easy I just create a planar at 45 degrees and use that to split the corners but is there an easy way to seperate the mid PFC and angle?
Im trying to create projections of the 3D model with the VIEWBASE command, is it possible to assign it to part of the model?

I have never done any 3d modeling in autocad before it took me a few days just to get the wireframe of a staircase done! I have tried to render this object in viewport but it disappears after I click on it or move around, therefore I cannot see it in my paper layout. How do I make a rendered object stay? Also I want to plot this on 22x34in and 11x17in paper, how would I go about getting a high quality rendered image. I am using autocad 2010.
View 4 Replies View Relatedworking with acad 2012 and not having good luck with links and functionality with excel. tried the links manager,pasting excel/entities. trying to insert separate files in model space in essence creating multiple cut lists for the drawing. Is there a tutorial that goes in depth with this? just froze one file at work, lucked out and opened at home. Each cut list is an individual worksheet, which may be the problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen creating text in model space it appears both mirrored and rotated 90 degrees to the horizontal. However, when I create text in paper space it is fine. I have tried looking at the properties for the text but although I can find a place to rotate the text back to the horizontal it is still mirrored and therefore unreadable.
When I copy paste stuff from one document to another this also occurs.
I have modeled a theatre chair, and when I attempt to create a circular array the left arm/leg of the chair separate and rotate 180 degrees in the opposite direction. I am able to select the entire object but when I attempt to move/ create the array...pieces split and go in different directions.

I am creating a folding door model and would like to use a parameter called EXERIOR WALL OFFSET. I have used this parameter before but am having trouble getting it to work within my family. The only difference is that I created one frame/jamb instead of 4 seperate profiles. The question is, why can't i get the jamb to move within the wall using the exterior wall offset parameter? It seems to move the sash/panels just fine but the jamb is constrainted somehow.

First delivery getting the angle of deflection, a ves obtained 180 you rest this and get the inner corner. All fine, as long as the polyline is the image-1.png. Otherwise, if the polyline is as in the image-2.png there is an error in the vertex B.
That algorithm could follow in order to comply with the correct value. Since later this data i presented it in a table of AutoCAD.
