View 1 Replies In "Categories" of the filters window, it can be selected things which composes its mass, such as Mass Exterior Wall, Mass Glazing, Mass Roof. And these things can be clicked only after its mass become energy model.
I set up a filter rule of Mass Roof and applied it to V/G Filters of a view, but it did not displayed in Analyze Mass Model, the same as Mass Exterior Wall, Mass Glazing.
I need to model a building that cascades down a steep sloped hill. Should I create a toposurface first and then model onto that or should I make my model and then apply it to a toposurface?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm now working on my diploma work and I need to model a gridshell construction in Conceptual mass.I created the form and made adaptive component -a glass panel.I uploaded it in the family and now I need to load that family into the project space and I don't know what to do..I will have to remove the mass eventually before rendering but then the gridshell structure will disappear.I don't know how to make it real,I cannot use massing and site with this, I'm obviously missing some steps and i don't know which ones..
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to x-ref a building model that was drawn in 2013 MEP in a Civil3D drawing that contains the site surface. When I x-ref my building model into the site drawing and attempt to align and scale the building some of my walls become broken and missing. I have a feeling this is a scaling issue because on my site my north wall should be 24' long. The wall is 24' long in MEP, but that same 24' from Civil3D is only a 2' line segment in MEP. How to remedy this? I have tried scale the building model down in MEP first and it causes all kinds of problems with the door and window objects. I tried adjusting the x-ref scale prior to adding the x-ref and it does the same thing.

I wish to represent polygon features in a polygon topology using building models created in revit. Can this be done? If so, how?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 3D model from a floor of a building, with 20 rooms on this floor. I have 3D blocks inserted as furniture for each of the rooms and want to create elevations from inside these rooms looking at the 4 walls to show the layout.
How can I position the viewports within each of the rooms to give me a 2D Elevation?
I have a .iam and .idw that i copied/designed from vault. The .idw has a sketched symbol that has a text box with the mass property. When update mass is applied the mass property in the text box does not. I ran into this once before and got it to work by re-inserting the symbol into the .idw but I can't get it to work. The orginal that was copied from works fine.

I want to subdivide my Revit building model including its components in many segments. These segments will be carried out one after another in the reality. How can I do that without need to subdivide every component (walls, ceilings....) ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn Revit, how can I stretch a building in one direction, including all floors, in either plan or elevation? Let's say a wing of a 3-story building is 20' long, and I want to make it 24' long.
In ACAD, there is the stretch command that uses a fence.
Granted I would have to use stretch on each plan & elevation drawing, but all elements within the fence are sretched.
Do I have to move a grid, and hope that I've locked all walls on all floors to that grid so they move when the grid is moved?
Sometimes I'm unable to place a truss in my building. When I am able to get it in, it's never at the right height (either too high or too low). I've tried moving it in an elevation and section, but it will only move left and right, not up and down. My teacher said something about changing the view range, which I did.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any method to create sweep or shaped object in mass (should be in dimension) using Revit 2012.
The creation of sweep/revolve/blend is not available in Mass of Revit 2012.
Because the method of mass is difference comparing to Revit 2008 with Revit 2012.
We just noticed that the imported cad geometry in a Mass family will not cut in a floor plan view which contains a plan region. Regardless of the location or height of the plan region.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I import a AutoCad 2D file (include several layers) into Revit, how can I extrude layer by layer (for having mass )? I mean I need to have a chance for selecting my layers separately in Revit (like in AutoCad) and then create Mass by layers.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI created a curtain panel family and loaded it into my project where I had created a mass and divided the surface, and changed the panels to be my curtain panel family i created. The mass has a curve that I want the panel to be on the inside of, but the panel is always placed on the outside. File is attached. So on the smaller curve on the north side of my building, the panels are placed on the inside of the building instead of the outside. How can I place the panels on the outside of the building along the curve?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 3 story building. We are almost finished with design development. I need to raise the building's first floor which will cause all the other floors to change their level heights. I have been told that we need to fake in level markers because to change the level heights will cause all the information (for example dimensions) to disappear because they are 'tied' to the original level height. Is there a way to raise the building without loosing all the work that has been done?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have multiple building pads in a model because I have multiple phases to represent. The problem I'm having is that the pads are cutting the topo surface in all phases. When I check the properties for each pads they all appear to bel properly identified as being created in the appropriate phase and yet there doesn't seem to be any way to turn off the building pad for future work in the existing conditions. See attached image.
I suppose the other possibility is that the pads are not really in the views, but the topo, having been excavated in one view, stays excavated in all views and won't fill in?
how to disable the pads where and when they're not needed? I've tried hiding the pad elements in the views, but that doesn't seem to do anything.
I need to swap my level 1 and level 2 of my building's floorplans. What is the most efficient way to take the walls etc. from level two and place them on level 1, and take whats on level 1 and place them on level 2? I am swapping the floorplans.

know of a way to modify both Contour Lines (Topo) and the actual building in the same file?
i.e. without linking the file "topo" to the file "building"?
I have a relatively simple mass modeled in Rhino that I imported to a Revit Mass Family (via .sat file). I then placed walls, roofs, structure on the face of this mass. However I would like to be able adjust this mass, either in Rhino or Revit and the walls and structure adjust accordingly. Now however, if I reload the mass into my Revit family, and then reload the family to my model, and then attempt to Update to Face, the error "Faces defining this Element cannot be reacquired." and my only option is to delete the offending wall/roof etc.
Is this just a limitation in Revit/Rhino, or am I totally doing it wrong?
I'm following a "Simple Mass Creation" exercise in a Revit book, which says to create a cube, a sphere, and a pyramid. It doesn't say how, though, it just goes on to the next step of dividing the masses into floors. After much research and trial and error, I figured out the cube and sphere, but how the heck do you create a pyramid? At first I was thinking of a blend, from a square to a point, but that's not an option. Then I tried to use void shapes to remove parts of a cube...and I'm getting an error message because my voids are overlapping and there's no solid to cut. There MUST be a faster and less complicated way to create such a basic form.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a colleague who has counciled me that sometimes it makes sense to create mass-elements for complicated gabled roof elements. Since I am pretty darn new to Revit, I am bringing in some old 2D dwg information (plans and elevations) and I'm trying to use this information to generate an in-place mass that is my roof. I'm essentially extruding gabled roof information from this geometry. So far so good. But when I try to rotate this information I find the program unwilling to do this. I have a suspicion this has something to do with the fact this in-place mass is either being hosted by the intitial horiontal working plane, or it is "pinned" to something I don't want it to be pinned to.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to change the appearance of a mass imported into Revit? I simply want to change the dark grey that shows in the rendered view and/or the white that shows up in the shaded view so I can control how background buildings (imported through google earth/sketch up) look in my drawings.
I do not want to rebuild the masses with walls, ceilings, etc, because they are just background site elements. I have tried to do this through object styles. I have tried to do this through "Override by Element" and "Override by Category". I am importing the files as in-place masses and there is no way to edit materials because "Materials" doesn't even show up as one of the element properties.
I MAss space across a strange problem.
I chose a number of elements drawn ,And then I needed them again in the future I choose, Thus after selecting elements Click on the Save

I am creating a tunnel with a profile consisting of multiple radios. In the attached images can be displayed. The problem I have is that by selecting one of the two tunnels and create a void with the profile of the second tunnel and perform cutting geometry indicates that I can not and I get the error message.
If I perform the same exercise to select a tunnel and create a void with a square profile, rectangular or cylindrical deaja if I make the cut geometry. I select the void that did work and edit it to add the profile you require and at the end of the model throws me the error again.
We are working on four computers of the same features and the same version of Revit Building Design Suite 2013, has installed the update 2.
I assigned to each mass floor an usage, and my schedule functions well . That tool is wonderful, isn't it?
But I would want to display each usage in a different color, to show my client how I am organizing the building. Is this possible? Mass floors seems not to have a color or material property.
I seems that SolidWorks Live Building is better than Revit, so I'm going to wait until Autodesk buys it and tell us to forget Revit, as they did with AutoArchitect S8 and more recently with ADT:
