AutoCAD Inventor :: Ultimate 2013 - Cannot Add Hole To Existing Hole Chart
May 22, 2012I am trying to add a hole to an existing hole chart. I drop the part into a new drawing, set the ordinate "zero", and add a hole chart by selecting a few holes. When I attempt to edit the chart: click chart, right click "edit", click add hole, select new holes, right click to create, the "create" selection is greyed out and all I have to choose from is cancel. I searched the forum here but could not find a reference to this a know issue. Am I doing something wrong or is this a glitch of 2013.
We are running win7 x64 machines and this happens on both the 2013 Ultimate and Premium editions of the product.

Nov 6, 2012I've got a template with a set of Object defaults for an Inch drawing and a set for a Metric drawing. I've just noticed that within my metric set, if I insert a hole table with tapped holes, the font on the tapped holes doesn't match the other hole types. I'm searched around, but all the settings for the hole table style reference the same text style. (Please see the attached image.)
So is there a way to set a certain hole type to have a certain font or size within a hole table? Because if there is, I'd obviously like to remove it..... But I can't seem to figure out where the issue is.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Can't Select Hole Edges When Creating Hole Table
Nov 19, 2012I have had this problem intermittently for a few weeks since going to Inventor 2013 SP1.1. I have a part within an assembly and that part has holes created in it before assembling it with other parts. Now when I try and create a hole table in a drawing of the assembly I cannot select hole edges and the hole table is blank when trying to create it automatically from view selection. I originally thought it may be an alignment issue but I have since aligned everything correctly and it still persists. I can create the hole table if I import in just the part into the drawing but it will not allow me to create the table on the whole assembly.
I can also create the hole table if I use "centred pattern" and create cross hairs on all of the holes however it does not give me correct annotations for the holes as shown in attachment and I can manually change the annotations but seriously this should not be required. As shown in the screen shot it reads as A1 down to K1 instead of A1 to A10. .

Nov 28, 2012Question: Is it possible to control the Hole Dimensions called out on the Hole Chart? As in controling leading/trailing zeros for main hole dim, alt home dim and tolerances? Can you combine the Main Dim with the Alt dim in a single column, separated with parentheses? (same with tolerance?)

Jul 11, 2012I have an AutoCAD drawing (I did not create it) of a proposed trail in my city, and I've been tasked with making some kind of model or render of a section of it. I'm at a loss for how to even start, unfortunately. In the end I would like to have an accurate 3D model of a boardwalk section of the trail with surrounding terrain. I have Sketchup, Google Earth, and Revit at my disposal.
My first problem is topography. When I import the CAD drawing to Revit it seems there is some topographical data, which will be needed to realistically build the boardwalk on top of. I was able to get the terrain of the area into Sketchup from Google Earth, but then I don't know exactly where to build the model.
I've attached an image of a floor I created in the outline of the boardwalk. The area in question begins at the two handicap parking stalls (represented as the two blue towers for some hilarious reason) and ends at the second square (a viewing platform). My preferred method would be get an accurate topograhic site in Revit, build the boardwalk, and then place surrounding vegetation so I can get some renders.
EDIT: I've attached "Screenshot 2" which shows I found I was able to create terrain in Revit by selecting a layer of the CAD file. However that layer is suspended above, and my placeholder floor is underneath. Now I just need to get the floor (representing the boardwalk) to go along the terrain.
AutoCAD 2013 :: 3D Model Of Helical Gear
Feb 2, 2013I have created a 3D model of a helical gear. The process followed was to use the profile of one tooth, which by the way is a true involute shape, then displace that profile and rotate it the amount needed to equal the face width of the gear and to match the helix angle. There is also a profile located at the midpoint of the gear. The profiles are all closed polylines.
I then used the LOFT command to create a solid tooth. It looks exactly like it should. I tried to use the SWEEP command but that rotates the profile 90 deg. from the path. Extrude won't work because the path is a 3D line in space.
I then invoked the POLAR array and put 28 teeth around the center of the gear. That too looks exactly as I would expect it to.
BUT - when I try to UNION the 28 teeth into one solid, AuotoCAD 2013 stops working. And that occurs the moment the cursor touchs any part of any individual tooth. If I try to UNION the array by dragging a window over it, it stops when the window gets about halfway over the model.
The computer is a Lenovo S-30 workstation with 8 Gig of ram, an nVidia 2000 with 1Gbyte of video memory and dual 1Tbyte hard drives.

Mar 15, 2013I have a 3d model of a bridge and I would like to cut transverse sections at every pier but would like to get linework just at the spot to create plans and would like for it to be linked so if you update pier it will update section? Is this possible or something very close? Let me know what are the best ways to do this.

I can use layouts tabs, I can change the background color to same as model tab and all its ok.
However I'm unable to set scale to have text and annotation with a "human" size (that is, thinking on my screen and not on the paper).
Maybe this is a newbie question but I'm lost....
What is what I must to set ? I dont want to use layout to print, but to view my drawing with custom layer settings.

Oct 30, 2013I am trying to cut sections from an inventor model in AutoCAD. On numerous occasions I am running into an issue where the section cuts are not shown correctly. I have figured out how to correct this issue when cutting sections in inventor, but the issue is accruing in AutoCAD as well. I have attached an image showing an example of what I am talking about, you can clearly see that there are bolts and plates that should be displayed in the section cut which is shown above.
