I'd like to export AutoCAD file from a model built in 3Ds Max to get some engimeering drawings(as below) But the dwg file export from 3Ds Max is always with the wireframe(as the last one)
View 4 RepliesI'm not looking to RENDER wireframe, I'm looking to export a model as ONLY a wireframe out and bring it into After Effects.
Essentially, I am trying to bring an .obj into After Effects using the plugin Element 3D. While I'm aware I can simply import the model as-is into Element 3D and use the wireframe texture that Element 3D comes with, I was wondering if it's possible to just export a model out of Maya in it's wireframe state. I wasn't 100% sure if the wireframe state was just a view or not.
I need information on how to create a 3D Solid Model from wireframe and surfaces using AutoCAD 2013.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm working on 2013 AutoCAD along with V52.03 HydraCAD and have been trying to export a model to Navisworks. Currently I have Navisworks Freedom 2013 on my system. AutoCAD doesn't recognize "nwdout" as a command, it says unknown command. Does this have something to do with the Navisworks Freedom that I have on the machine instead of Navisworks Simulate?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got a very complex 3D AutoCAD model (exported as DWG) that's come from an external company that use Micro station. Ultimately I'm trying to link it into Revit, but I'm having problems doing this. What I'd like to do is convert the 3D faceted model into a wireframe ONLY model, ie. remove all the faces. (I've got another wire frame model in Revit already so I know this will work) I know you can change the 'view' by using SHADEMODE but I'd like to actually remove the faces from the model all together leaving only the lines on the 'edges'. So the Wireframe view of Shade mode is exactly what I want but I need to get those faces out somehow.
I've tried exploding it all, but that only gets rid of a few faces ...thought exporting to DXF might do it but hasn't.
I need to export a layout to a new model -as a new drawing-. I did ths after bind all the X-ref files and explode them all then with "Export layout to new model" command from the right click menu on Layout tab. But the file is slightly big, the file has more than about 105 layout , the AutoCAD gets hang and after about 10-15 mins it shows a dialogue box contents"Unhandelled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click continue the application will ignore this and attempt to continue" I clicked on "Continue" and a file has been created with 0 bites.And that file cannot be opened.

I have never done any 3d modeling in autocad before it took me a few days just to get the wireframe of a staircase done! I have tried to render this object in viewport but it disappears after I click on it or move around, therefore I cannot see it in my paper layout. How do I make a rendered object stay? Also I want to plot this on 22x34in and 11x17in paper, how would I go about getting a high quality rendered image. I am using autocad 2010.

Also is there a way to export model space from one workbook to another. In that one is the standard company file and I want to build a sepearte workbook for my purposes (making specific paper spaces etc...) but I want to use their model space for the model space of my workbook. Also if possible to export would this exported model space make changes when changes were made on the original copy?
My firm is starting a project....the Structural side is going to be don in Revit 3d and our Mechanical side uses Autocad w/Cadworxs for our 3d package. Is it possible to export the Revit steel drawing and import that model into Autocad as an xref?

i'm currently learning maya 2011..my problem is that sometimes when i use the split polygon tool or the edge insert tool and some others A PART OF MY MODEL goes into wire frame mode not the whole model and even if i undo it still doesn't work..in the perspective viewport under shading i have selected 'smooth shade all'.

I use CAD programs to prepare models for simulations in other software and I would like to work with Inventor because my Department uses it. Till now I have been using Solid Works and with a little trick it is possible to export surfaces as a STL file. In Inventor I didn't manage to do this. So, is it possible?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an AutoCAD drawing (I did not create it) of a proposed trail in my city, and I've been tasked with making some kind of model or render of a section of it. I'm at a loss for how to even start, unfortunately. In the end I would like to have an accurate 3D model of a boardwalk section of the trail with surrounding terrain. I have Sketchup, Google Earth, and Revit at my disposal.
My first problem is topography. When I import the CAD drawing to Revit it seems there is some topographical data, which will be needed to realistically build the boardwalk on top of. I was able to get the terrain of the area into Sketchup from Google Earth, but then I don't know exactly where to build the model.
I've attached an image of a floor I created in the outline of the boardwalk. The area in question begins at the two handicap parking stalls (represented as the two blue towers for some hilarious reason) and ends at the second square (a viewing platform). My preferred method would be get an accurate topograhic site in Revit, build the boardwalk, and then place surrounding vegetation so I can get some renders.
EDIT: I've attached "Screenshot 2" which shows I found I was able to create terrain in Revit by selecting a layer of the CAD file. However that layer is suspended above, and my placeholder floor is underneath. Now I just need to get the floor (representing the boardwalk) to go along the terrain.
i got for a project some files (in the pic below) wich i actually can use for an 3D model ( geodate's). Problem is, i dont know how i can use/open them to generate an 3D Model. How to figure out which programm I can use this files or how i can use them in AutoCAD?

when importing it to Autocad 3D 2013 is shown as a colum instead of a 3D model.
I recently installed the SketchUp plugin in the hope that I would be able to easily and effectively transfer SketchUp models into AutoCAD and subsequently into Revit.
However, upon importing the SketchUp model, extra wireframe is added to the flat surfaces from vertex to vertex. This does not affect the CAD model as such as it appears that these lines are necessary for CAD to create the surfaces.
Though when imported into Revit from CAD, these surfaces are unable to be processed and the model becomes incomplete, also failing to identify the windows and doors that had been previously identified as the model had been taken from Revit, through CAD and to SketchUp with no problems and then all the way back again.
What is the next step of importing it back to Revit as I am unsure how to retain its levels (i.e Floor plans).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've recently installed AutoCAD 2014 and noticed when I try to select objects behind a solid (in wireframe) it will select the face of the solid and I am not able to select any objects behind that solid. In the past, while in wireframe, I wasn't able to select a solid unless an edge was selected. Now if I click on a face it will select that item, which is not allowing me to select anything behind it. Is there a variable to change the way a solid is selected while in wireframe?

When i go to open the new template the first thing i notice is that the thumb nail has a black ground , while the other templates that came with autocad have a white background !...when i open the dwt file it opens like a normal dwg file in model space not in paper space. the dwt file behaves as just a normal file .

Type DXFOUT to export to DXF file.Open the newly created DXF file and run PURGE > ALL, -PURGE > REGAPPS and AUDIT. SaveAs the DXF file back into a DWG file.
The problem is when we use dxfout, it will export to a DXF file but still open DWG file. It means we have to open that DXF file to fix. Cannot use 1 script to do that.
I try this script to save as to dxf, save as will open that DXF automatically and continue with purge, audit but the file size not change.

I think the problem is the different between saveas and export.
When I zoom in or zoom out the model, normally the dimension will follow the model too.But now in Autocad 2013, even the model size change, the dimension still remain unchange. why? Is there any setting I miss out? URL....
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a character model in Mudbox 2014. I exported the face, body and hands as individual .obj files, each at its maximum subdivision level. But in Mudbox 2013 the sculpting layers are all flattened on the main layer.
Is there an option to keep the sculpting and painting layers intact?

I'd like to export the model to 3ds Max Design, convert the solid model to a mesh and then bend the mesh to follow a horizontal radius of curvature. Once that's done I'd like to be able to convert it back into a solid and import it back into AutoCAD.
i downloaded the trial version of 2k9, on a win xp machine, with the main interest in trying out this new feature...unfortunately i have yet been successfull in using it as autocad either locks-up durring the export or end up with an "unhandled exeption...eDegenerateGeometry"...
i'm also attaching the details of such an exception (and i probably should report this to autodesk for their investigations)...
A customer is trying to export a model for use in Revit. When he goes to the Environments tab -> BIM Exchange and the dialog opens... He has no option for RFA files... Only ADSK. Not sure what is going on.

However, for each file attached the levels of the project from ACA are not recognized in MAX - all the levels are stacked ontop of eachother in the same place. I did not see an option in the presets for MAX to understand this.
