Revit :: Itemize Every Grid In Project And Then Export To Text File
Oct 25, 2011I'm trying to itemize every grid in the project and then export it to a text file. Grids are not an option under the schedule/quantities or material takeoffs. I'm not sure where else to start.
I'm using Revit 2012.
Revit :: Rotating Model For Project North
Sep 26, 2012I created a project with multiple linked Revit files in it and I'd like to rotate the models in their own files to be "North/South". I understand choosing between True North and Project North, but I can't tell which I'm supposed to rotate because when I rotate the actual model and bring it into the host file, it's not accurate. Am I to bring it in to the host and then rotate and move it into position and then publish the coordinates? I have tried that, but then when I go back to the linked file and import a AutoCAD background drawing by it's origin's, it doesn't line up.
Is there a tutorial online somewhere that describes the process for rotating a linked project file in its own file to be North/South and then import it to the host file and establish (publish) coordinates so everything works? Do I just need to re-export to AutoCAD to modify the origin point for the DWG file?

Mar 1, 2014I already have a revit model of a building with the areas identified like "room A", "room B", etc. I exported it to FBX and opened with Unity but the information about the rooms was not there (I am assuming FBX format does not save that information)
I might be wrong but I beleive IFC format saves this information. The problem is that Unity does not import IFC files and the file seems way too complicated to make my own parser to read it. I was wondering if there is a lib or something that I could use to visualize the 3D model without losing the rooms identification.
Revit :: File Path Does Not Show On Project File
Jan 16, 2014I added a FILE PATH label on my titleblock but when I load it to my project file it does not show. Why it does not show, I added a new lable for CLIENT NAME it showed fine. Just to test it out I changed the lable of the second one to FILE PATH and the first one that I did to CLIENT NAME. When I loaded it to my project, the second label dissappeared and the first lable now shows.

Aug 11, 2011Often as a sole user of Revit when I open a project I have been working on I get the following message:
"This file is already open for editing by another user. You will be unable to save any changes before that user closes the file."
Since I am the only one working on the project there are no other users and as far as I can tell no other files open. Any insight into what has triggered this message?

Nov 4, 2013I need to be able to combine two revit project models into one .IFC export per floor. Initially I was able to accomplish this by binding the linked subcontractor’s model into my project model and then exporting each floor as an individual .IFC file. Within the past couple of weeks my sub-contractor has nested face based families into some of the more compex casework families. These new families are throwing up errors during the binding process that result in the content being deleted. Ultimately looking for understanding these warnings and how to resolve them so that I can continue with the work flow that was initially in place. How to streamline this process in the long run. I started looking into plug-ins or supplemental software that might enable me to merge .IFC’s generated from two different sources. I haven’t had much success.

Oct 11, 2013I am trying to set up a METRIC project (that I want to make template) that uses meters instead of millimeters.
So I created a new project, without the use of any template. I copied from the default Autocad templates folder the Model and Sheet templates to the new project folder and I set the units, scale and grid to meters and changed the path in project properties to these files.
Everything seems to work fine, except creations of sections/elevations.
I edited the SectionStyles (Metric).dwg file in default styles folder and It works fine.
But I donțt want to change that file in the default folder, but to change the path of the section styles in the project. The only way I could do that was to change it in the tool palette - right click on callout.
So how can I make the SectionStyles to load from a specific location for a project without having to right click on every callout that I want to use and change it manually?
There are some other things to do/change for making the project template that I want? (I am referring to the units setup).

Jan 16, 2014Using Smoke EXT1 and a previous user archived his project using the old school method; media and setups seperatly instead of just selecting the project as a whole.
I've draged the media into a library and restored that easy enough but can not find the details of how to recover the setups from the tar file in the archive. It does not show up in the media pannel at all, just an emply folder. How to get these setups loaded into a project?
