VideoStudio :: Choppy Video When Panning After Render?

Jun 3, 2013

I'm using VS x5.

Basically, I have a Sanyo HD camera which I've used to capture quite a bit of holiday footage. I've edited some together but when I output the project to either mp4 or mts the picture is choppy when panning.

The camera was set to 1080p @ 30fps (there's no option of 25fps even though the camera was bought here in the UK) which I have matched by choosing the "Custom" option when creating the movie. I've matched the bitrate (16789bps on the source) but this ends up being 15540bps on the output file. (??) According to the properties on the source file it's 29.97fps which I have also matched in the Custom settings option.

I understand I should expect dropped frames if I was trying to output the file as PAL compliant, but I've got VS set to NTSC so I don't think this is an issue.

The source file is mp4 and looks fine when viewing the panning scenes.

PC Spec:

Intel quad core 2.4Ghz
4Gb RAM
ATI Radeon 5430 Graphics card

VideoStudio :: Choppy / Jerky And Jumpy Video In Edit X5

Jun 24, 2012

I’ve been using very happily been using x2 for a number of years to make a lot of movies from my standard definition camera, I’ve loved the programme, and it has generally been able to do everything I wanted, and made for an enjoyable editing process. However, the camera has finally given up and I’m now going down the HD route, and the old x2 version just keeps crashing with any new clips. So I have recently downloaded the trial version of x5 (5 days of trial left), with the intention of trying it out and then purchasing it.

Unfortunately however I have found it to be jerky and jumpy when editing clips together, particularly when using the overlay tracks, the more overlays the worse it gets. This happens when I want to watch the edit, and while the sound runs ok the video just freezes on a frame then jumps ahead a few seconds and freezes etc etc. Impossible to watch and edit to really.

I am using the smart proxy to get the files to a manageable size, and I can see the separate proxy files in explorer. Smart proxy enabled. I have all the acceleration on that can go on (the ”Enable Hardware Encoder Acceleration” is greyed out so I can’t tick it). When I share/render the movie it comes out just fine, so it’s only with the editing process that is jumpy. I have really enjoyed x2, and could get good results really quickly, and I enjoyed the editing interface and process with Corel VS, but am now thinking I might need to change to a different video editing programme.

Computer- HP Elitebook 8560w
Everything is just running off the laptop’s hard drive. I’ve installed The CVS x5 Service Pack 1

The project has only two clips – the first from a canon d550 as below

640x480 MOV
24 bits, 1848 frames
25.000 fps
73.92 secs

And the other from the net as below

MPEG-4 file

H 264 High Profile Video
989 frames
24 bits 640x480 4:3
30 fps
605 Kbps data rate

VideoStudio :: Capture MPEG4 Files In Timeline - Sound And Video Choppy

Jun 5, 2011

I downloaded the trial version of VideoStudio 4 Pro to try it out and I like the interface and the ease of use. My problem is that when I capture MPEG 4 files in the timeline and go to replay them, the sound and video are very choppy and the replay skips the whole way through.

I converted the MPEG 4 files to wmv, and the video was smooth but I lost some of the image clarity in the converting process. I don't think it's my computer because the MPEG 4 files play nicely on MediaPlayer - just not on VideoStudio.

VideoStudio :: Render Video At 60 Frames Per Second?

VideoStudio :: Cannot Render A Frame-based Video

Apr 15, 2011

Why I cannot render a frame-based video when selecting (Share/Custom/MPEG Transport-stream)? My goal is to create an AVCHD video and burn it to a DVD (4.7G). My video is 16min long and the calculated bitrate is around CBR 15,000 kbps. If I use the (Share/ADVCHD/1920) option, I don't have any control over the settings. I have already deinterlaced my video using Neoscene. That is why I want to create a frame-based video.

Below is my workflow.

Two video sources:
.mov(1080p) from ContourHD 1080p camea
.mts(1080i) from Canon Vixia HF S100

1. Trim .mts files in CSV PX3
2. Trim .mov files in Contour S/W
3. Convert trimmed clips to .avi with Cineform Neoscene
4. Edit in CSV PX3
5. Planned to render in AVCHD, 1920x1080p, 29.97 fps, 15000 kbps

VideoStudio :: Cannot Render Video - Unspecific Error

Nov 24, 2013

I have been using X5 for almost a year and everything seems find until lately when I up graded my system to window 8.1. I have assemble a 40 min video but when I tried to use 'share' to output to MP4 iphone/ipad HD,the rendering go halfway then the VideoStudio crashed with an error 'The program has encountered an unspecified error' and a DMP file and ask me to contact Corel support. My project only has 1 video tack, 1 voice track and 1 music track and the project file is 17,426 KB. If I disable the voice track, then the project can render successfully. Since the voice track is recorded using VideoStudio voice over with WAV format, I went back and convert all voice into mp3 to smaller size but still crash when render halfway. My system should have enough resources to process this 40 min video.

Window 8.1 pro 64x
16GB ram
CPU i7
Hard drive 2T.

I have assemble 40 min video with heavy voice before in XP and it render without any problem. Is there are issues between VideoStudio and window 8.1 64x ? Is there a limit to VS project size, or voice track size ? I read some of the posts and you recommend to manfully uninstall the software and reinstall the software. I am reluctant to do this, not at least after I can output my project to mp4, because it might wipe out my setting, templates, libraries, and even my project file. Do you know of any tool so I can read the DMP file ? I don't understand what good to have a DMP file when my software have passed the 30 day or 1 time support warranty?

It has been very frustrate to spend all this time to assemble a video and at the end cannot produce a sharable version. I was about to upgrade to X6 but now I have to think twice if this issue is not resolved. What good are all thees fancy new features in X6 to me if I cannot produce a sharable version of my project ?

VideoStudio :: Video Format To Create DVD (Render VSP)

Jul 30, 2012

Given that it seems to be a good idea to render VSP projects to a single video file before attempting to create a DVD through Share Create Disc, I am wondering what is the most optimal type of video file to initially render the VSP into.

The video from my camera comes in a ACVHD 1080/60i. My target final disc is either 1) standard DVD, or 2) Blu Ray. I have been rendering the VSP into a 1920x1080 AVCHD format.

VideoStudio :: X2 - Render MTS Clips Into AVI Video / Catastrophic Failure Error

May 9, 2011

I'm trying to render MTS clips into an AVI video

Project Properties -

NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)

Lower Field First
DV Video Encoder -- type 1
DV Audio -- NTSC, 48.000 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo.

When the rendering completes, a "Catastrophic Failure" error code comes up. When I try to play the video in VLF, I get the following message

"AVI Index

This AVI file is broken. Seeking will not work correctly."

If I press "don't repair", the file plays, but the indexing bar does not run along the bottom of the player. Obviously something is wrong, but I can't seem to work it out.

The input files are as follows:

Video Type: H.264 video, upper field first
Attributes: 24 bit, 1920x1080, 16:9
Frame rate: 29.970
Data rate: variable, 16,800 kbps max

Audio type: Dolby digital
Attributes: 48000 hertz

Bit Rate: 256 kbps

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, with no luck.

VideoStudio :: Audio Choppy After Rendering?

The audio sounds choppy and I cannot figure out why Im getting it. I'm experimenting with Corel VS to learn how to use it. IF I use audio files ripped from a CD I get choppy audio after the project is rendered to a wmv hd 1080p file. It sounds fine during the preview playback in the project though.

Music that I have downloaded from the web does not do this. I assume I am doing something wrong when extracting audio from disks? I am just using Windows Media Player to RIP the CD's with. Should I use something else?

VideoStudio :: Import Sequence Of Animation Images - Choppy Playback

Nov 29, 2013

Though I am a long time CorelDraw user I've recently download VideoStudio Pro trial. The problem I am having is importing a sequence of animation images (360 total at 30frames/sec) The images where render and exported from Lightwave3D (jpg)

The only way I found to import the images was through the capture button and that worked fine. Once that was done imported VS editor and exported to several formats...

the problem is the sequence is choppy and not smooth it is a wee bit choppy the 30 frames/sec imports fine but the final play back is not smooth as it should be. If I export directly to video from Lightwave the playback is smooth. I'd render direct from LW but LW is is a wee bit wonky at time when writing direct to video format. LW prefers direct to image then you would composite in a 3rd party program

I tried VS video at 60 frames, 15 frames that made no difference at all the same unsmooth playback

How do I import a sequence of images at 30/sec so then export so that the playback is smooth.

VideoStudio :: Panning Shots OK In Camera LCD But Very Jerky On Computer?

Apr 17, 2012

I've just bought a fluid head tripod and have been practising with it and getting some fairly smooth results. I've been shooting at a resolution of 1920x1080 at 30fps in MPEG4 AVC/H.264. When I watch the video in the LCD display on the video camera or plug my video camera (Sanyo Xacti FH1) into my 40 inch TV the results look smooth. But as soon as I download them onto my computer and watch them in VideoLan or QuickTime, the results are awful. The picture jerks several times a second throughout the panning shots. I have imported some of the clips into VideoStudio Pro X4, and made smart proxies of them and some but not all of them run smoothly but when I create an MP4 HD file in VS4 the results are just once again awfully jerky. My computer is only a couple of months old: AMD Athlon II X4651 Quad Core and Radion HD6700 series graphics card with 4Gb of ROM running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. What I can't understand is why the panning looks so smooth on the camera and on my TV (so it isn't due to the small size of the camera's LCD) but as soon as I download it to the computer it looks so awful. I'm aiming to put up some film clips of archaeological sites in Crete on YouTube and I am due to go round the island shooting video but I can't possibly put results like these on the Internet. What could be causing the difference between what my camera shows and what my computer shows?

VideoStudio :: Panning And Zooming Multiple Masked Videos

Nov 7, 2011

I thought I would just check with the experts before I go down a road that may be a dead end.

What I am trying to do can best be described if you happen to have watched some of the Harry Potter movies, where they walk down a staircase that has all the historical paintings on the wall. Unlike standard paintings, these ones take on a life of their own and have movement inside the frame.

I would love to do something similar, albeit in a simpler fashion, by having a large static image on the main track, containing several picture frames, and then pan and zoom around this static image looking at all the moving images (videos) in the picture frames.

One thought I had was to create a very large images (4000 X 3000) containing all the picture frames. Then, in the overlay tracks I would place all the videos that would represent the moving paintings. The videos would be lined up with the picture frames using the picture-in-picture effect, and then I would pan-and-zoom around the static image viewing all the videos as they played simultaneously in the overlay tracks.

I fear there are several problems with this strategy, the central issue being that when I pan-and-zoom the main track, the overlay tracks wont pan-and-zoom with it.... Perhaps I could move the videos around the screen in sync with the pan-and-zoom, but that seems pretty difficult.

Is what I am trying to do even practical in VS Pro X4?

VideoStudio :: Jaggies When Panning - Can Shutter Speed Have An Effect

Nov 1, 2013

I have recently upgraded to a HiDef video camera and at first was recording at 1080i (interlaced) and now changed to record at 1080p (progressive).

I have noticed when viewing (on my PC) some of the clips I recorded that there are 'jagggies' along the edges of objects.

I have found that this is a result of 'interlace' and possibly panning too fast. My camera displays a warning "camera is panning too fast" if in fact I do pan too fast but this was not the case as when recording with panning I usually pan so slowly that I often have to increase playback speed during editing AND also the clips I viewed were on people walking in the same direct at the camera, hardly panning too fast. With that said I am thinking (and hoping) that it was a result of using 1080i (interlaced).

This begs the question - Can shutter speed have an effect. The reason for the question is that I have noticed that my new camera (seems to) automatically sets the shutter speed faster and leave the aperture wide when there is a lot of light (I can see that by changing to MANUAL mode and noting the aperture and shutter speed.

If this is the case then should try using a NEUTRAL DENSITY filter to force the camera to use a slower shutter speed? I used to have to do this with my old MiniDV camera to prevent overexposure in brightly lit scenes (the shutter speed never seemed to change without me manually doing so).
