VideoStudio :: Camcorder Not Recognized In Dell Latitude E5420
Oct 25, 2012
My laptop Dell Latitude E5420 is not recognising my camcorder. I tried with two of my mini DV camcorders, both of them are not recognised. When I connect through the IEEE1394 port on the laptop, it doesn't respond at all. In UL VS or any other video capture programs, the camcorder is not recognised, but only my laptop built in web camera is recognised.
Tried with changing IEEEE1394 host controller with Legacy in the Device Manager, but doesn't work.
I usually download my DV tape from the Panasonic analog camcorder to my JVC DVD recorder. However, I wanted to try downloading from the cam to the PC. I connected the cam to the PC and started VS Pro X3. When I click on "source" I get the message: No video device driver installed or device is not connected. The device (cam) is connected and the 1394 port is wrong properly. Then the video driver is needed. Where do I get this from-do I need to reinstall VS?
I currently have a Sony HDR-CX160 camcorder, which does not have a firewire port. I also have a 3 month Dell XPS8500, which does not have a firewire port. I am running Windows 7 64bit. When I hook up my camcorder via USB, Windows DOES recoginize it. It is not recognized by Corel, not in the Capture Video, Import form Digital Media,, Import from Mobile Device or Stop Motion. (my webcam does show up) It does not show up in the pull down tree. I understand that you can use Windows Movie Maker, or the supplied Sony PMB software to download it, but I paid for Corel to be able to do this. Why I would like Corel to be able to do this is that you need a"live" camera to be able to use the Stop Motion Capture, not something that has been recorded before.
Following Lesson steps in the Marc Bech book (Picture Yourself) Lesson in Stop Motion. When I go to 'CAPTURE' > 'STOP MOTION', I get the message "No Camcorder Device is Available"
The camcorder is a Panasonic HDC-SDT750 and it connects to my computer without problem and is recognised by Windows (7) MY Computer is a Hewlett Packard S5206, Windows 7 64 bit.
I am using VSX5 and have downloaded the latest version of Hewlett Packard's video drivers and the latest version of Direct X.
It has been a while since I have used VS Pro x3 and am just starting a new project but when I go to capture footage the only options I am getting are as per the attached screenshot,

I have used old tape type camcorder (sony) for 7 years and used firewire cable(1394) to capture the video into my desktop. capturing file format was AVI(DV type 1). It's pretty big size of files but I like this type of file format because there were no compression so that I can keep an uncompressed original DV files. When I captured(download) the video from camcorder, I usually turn power on the camcorder after connect into desktop, then VideoStudio automatically recognized my old SONY camcorder so it's always ready to capture the videos.
BTW, I purchased new HD camcorder (JVC, model jvc gz-e10). I did connect same what I did tape camcorder, but neither my computer nor VSX5 can't recognized to capture. (It just only detect as movable device, i.e. SD card...)
How to capture this video clip from HD camcorder using VideoStudio program? Inside of SD card, captured files have "mts" file extension.
I have been using VS for quite a few years firstly with VS6 and currently have X3 (depending on a few things I will probably upgrade to X4).
Up until the present time I have been capturing on my PC at home via fire-wire from my current camcorder (Canon MD 235 which of course uses mini DV) . I want to purchase a new laptop to give me some mobility and also be able to edit produce DVD's on the move, looking around virtually no current laptops (unless I go well beyond my budget (around £500)) have fire-wire or even an express port to use a expansion card with fire-wire.
I realize that I will probably have to step up and get a newer more up to date camcorder over the summer and what I am trying to understand is the difference in capture formats. I like the look of some of the low end Hard drive/flash/SD card camcorders around, but how do you import to PC, is all done by USB?
In what formats is the video imported and how easy in comparison to say Avi files and is it easy to edit video using VS and produce a DVD from the resulting files?
I am using Video Studio x2 and I am trying to edit video from my HD camcorder. The video that I am trying to edit is in MPEG4 format and at a rate of 30fps at 1280x720. I have tried to change the properties within Videostudio but when I try to watch it or do anything else, the programme crashes and I have to start again. In the past I have to down grade the format to DVD, and then it works, but at a cost. Does VSx2 support this format or do I have to upgrade the programme to support HD editing? I am using a Laptop with a intel core 2 prossessor and a 1024mb Nvidia Geforce graphic card, which I feel should be enough.
I have just installed VS X5 and when attempting to capture/import from my Panasonic HDC-TM 700 camcorder am unable to do so. I get two messages either "Use a display environment of 1024* 768 or more", or "There is no capture driver installed on this system". Neither of which make much sense.
I was previously using VS X4 with no problems importing. Should I assume that the necessary driver is on the DVD or do I need to download another driver. I have HD Writer AE installed.
I just purchased an Aiptek GO-HD hi-def camcorder that outputs movies in 16:9 1280x720 H.264 MOV files. I can't seem to get these to work with VS10 or VS11. It either locks up when rendering to a DVD (VS10), or the DVD that it makes has extremely choppy video and audio and is unusable (VS11).
When I try to capture a video from camcorder-(HI 8 Tape) it starts to copy the stops and says tape is copy protected. Then program freezes. It worked last week and this is since svc pak 2 today.
Using VideoStudio X4. After initial problems with installation it has now installed fine and is working well. However, when capturing video from my Panasonic NV-GS400 mini dv camcorder the film does not show in the preview window. It did at first but now does not preview. I have not changed any settings nor have I changed anything in my method of capture. The film does capture ok - capture in avi format - its just a little unsettling not being able to see it during capture. I watch it on the pull out screen of the camcorder so I can tell when to stop capture etc.
Also, when capturing, the film runs for a few seconds then stops and then starts again and the capture begins from the second start point. I never had the problem with Ulead 9 but did have it with ProX2 but wondered if that was just a glitch because I was running it on Windows 7 and it had not originally been developed for that. Apart from that the program works well even when rendering HD footage from my new Panasonic HDC-TM700.
I am using the trial version of vx4. All is ok until I go to the create dvd page. The burner drive has no device listed. Create to disc is shaded out. I am able to burn discs with other programs.
On my trial version of ProX5, when I went to use the DVD label burn feature, I complete the label, when it asks me to save it I do with a file name but my new text and image aren't saved when I look at it again within the project and after I save the DVD label it shows as a .UPL file that Windows 7 does not recognize.
The 720p avi files on my toshiba camileo s20 are not recognized by my VS pro x2. VS will not capture them either from the camera or from the sd card. It does recognize the files on the sd card and shows a thumbnail, but when I try to capture them it says it cannot do so.
I can capture the files using windows 7 moviemaker but the avi files are still not recognized by vs even though windows movie maker has no trouble with them and treats them like any avi file. I have made a dvd with windows mm using those files.
VS does handle sd avi files from my JVC camcorder but no joy with the Toshiba. I have both the 1 and 2 updates for vs x2.
I have a file in autocad with something like 24,000 points of objects that include the x,y coordination in autocad... so i export all the point to a text file because i want to have all this point in my database of my site (i am using Google maps to see all the point on the map) but, the problem is that the x,y point is not in the correct format like the Google maps need... an example for some point:
181447.163751433,643530.564881084
But i need it to be with latitude and longitude... any formula to change this xy point to longitude and latitude and i will do it with c# or there some other way to do it?
There seems to be a bug somewhere in the way Lightroom 4 is exporting GPS information. The GPS data is fine in the .xmp file and in Lightroom 4 (shows up on the map okay)but when I export the RAW file to a JPG then the GPS info in the file properties (Windows 7) reads like a 2 or 3 long integers (for example -2147483648; etc). This may be normal but when I import the file into Photoshop Elements 10, the GPS info appears as zeros and when I upload the jpg to flickr, the GPS info is absent.
When I look at the LatLong choices while in the "Select Global Coordinate System", I see a longer list than I expected. Which of these choices is most consistent with the Latitude and Longitude system Google Maps uses?
Is there a way to create points using latitude and longitude. i have some borehole to be located on my project and the location information was given to as latitude and longitude.
I wish to input the GPS data (latitude, longitude) manually in the ways:
- Insert the value directly into the GPS field on the image (in map mode). It is pretty hard. In fact, I try to copy/paste value but I failed. I wish to be able to simply add manually GPS data to a picture.
- Move the map to a point giving llatitude, longitude. Maybe add a field close to "search".
I need to work with latitude and longitude, I believe there is a way to do this in autocad 3D Basics, but I can not remember how. How I could change the units to accept lattitude and longitude?
I am trying to create a Pipe Network table where my structures are located by Lat and Long. In the Table Component Editor under Properties I have a selection for 'Structure Northing' and 'Structure Easting' but I'm looking for the Properties Latitude and Longitude. How is it possible to add Lat and Long to my Structure Table?
Problems with 3D objects. PS freezes every time I create a 3D object and try to come out of 3D mode or save the file.
Updating driver for ATI Mobility Radeon HD560V display adapter.AMD website auto-suggested and installed HD 4650 (?) driver. That made PS work a bit better, but other stuff started freezing (Chrome, Bridge)Went to Dell site and reinstalled HD 560V. Had to uninstall and reinstall Catalyst Control Centre.

I've got two Dell 2408WFP 24" displays due to arrive Monday and I was wondering if any of you owners out there have any suggestions for me. I understand I'll have to calibrate these puppies and definitely bring down the brightness.
Do you have any other comments or suggestions for a new owner and it's use with Photoshop?

Trying to process MTS outputs from my Canon Camcorder. Files run in WMV and Windows Live Movie Maker (needs to wait while the files are uncompressed). WHen opened if PS CS6 files is present. When playing, frame rates drop to as slow as 3 fps. I have a quad processor and as I have indicated, the files play at normal speed. Have tried saving but have seen that the saved file is also dropping frames.
