Photoshop :: CS6 Processing Of Canon Camcorder AVCHD Files
May 22, 2012
Trying to process MTS outputs from my Canon Camcorder. Files run in WMV and Windows Live Movie Maker (needs to wait while the files are uncompressed). WHen opened if PS CS6 files is present. When playing, frame rates drop to as slow as 3 fps. I have a quad processor and as I have indicated, the files play at normal speed. Have tried saving but have seen that the saved file is also dropping frames.

I shot some footage in AVCHD with the Canon XA25 and I would like to edit it in Premiere Pro CC. In the Media Browser though, there's no thumbnail and the clip is just called "private" - In FCP7 I can just open the log and transfer and easily convert to ProRES. Is there a way to easily deal with clips from this camera in Premiere?

Earlier this year I purchased a Panasonic HDC-DS800 high definition camcorder. After years of editing ATI files, I'm going to use my VideoStudio (X4) to edit AVCHD files.
To get the files from the camcorder to the computer, there are 2 options. One is to go directly to the SD card on the camcorder through the My Computer option. This gives me .MTS files, which I can transfer to my hard drive.
The other option is to use the software supplied with the camcorder, which is HD Writer AE 3.0. This transfers to my hard drive .m2ts files. Along with the .m2ts files, it also transfers (or creates) .tmb files, .pmpd files, and .cont files.

At the "Share/Cerate video file/AVCHD" step, among the other types appears the following:
AVCHD (1920X1080P)
AVCHD (1920X1080)
Since I am dealing now with HD movies, what is the difference between those types, so I am not sure what should I choose.

I'm importing AVCHD files into my timeline in Premiere and have a files that's spanned over three MTS clips. Files originate from a Sony FS700 camera.
The files show correctly but all the material is tripled on the timeline. Files 00012.MTS, 00013.MTS, 00014.MTS are all shown on timeline repeating the same material (on camera this material is spanned throughout these files). All the material is there and all is ok, but it's just imported three times on the timeline.

I am at my wit's end here! U completely reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) and fully updated my drivers, software, and directx. I Installed VSX3 and I cannot render my AVCHD files from my Sony SR11. I get a dump error that points to the AVCHD dll file. I have used that last 5 versions of VS and my AVCHD files were fine with 11 and 12.
Are there users on here that are successful with Sony AVCHD files on Windows 7?

I use proxy files for my AVCHD editing. One of the options in the compression settings relates to " quality vs speed". Imo Proxy files are working files which content is not used for the final rendering. what the meaning / consequence is of the quality vs speed choice?

This has been on-going since the introduction of LR 4 and it continues to be an issue with the release of 4.2. Prior to LR 4 I was able to import and view my AVCHD files w/out a problem.
When will the importing issue with AVCHD movie files finally be resolved?

I have tried a couple of things to try and get Premiere to see the AVCHD files. I have copied the all the files over from the Canon Xa10 individually and the "Private" folder and then tried to import. Still couldnt see them. It seems like its not a supported file type. PP should be able to do this shouldn't it?
I currently am running Premiere Pro CS5 with Windows 7 64Bit

If the Pro X3 Service Pack includes dealing with AVCHD Lite video files?
It says "...the update provides: Updated camera support – broadened MPEG-4 capabilities add support for additional cameras, including selected cameras from Flip, Canon and more "
Just bought a Panasonic Lumix DMC-Zs7 wich shoots AVCHS Lite HD video and a lesser quality .MOV files as well. I wanna know if Prox3 can deal with these before I upgrade!! I have Prox2 right now.

I've purchased a sony VG10E camcorder that has sourced capture at 25mbps. I have been using premiere pro for years and now find render for the imported 1 hour source AVCHD files takes over a day ! (and still changes original source material ). I've heard that the latest video studio smart renders AVCHD.
Can this provides untouched source file reproduction after editing using my sony 25mbps quality?(i'd expect untouched to remain same, while touched/transitionss etc will require render).

In order to create a video file in the AVCHD 1920X1080 format, I have the following options in the VSP X6:
AVCHD (1920X1080)
AVCHD (1920X1080, 24P)
AVCHD (1920X1080, 25P)
AVCHD (1920X1080, 50P)
What is the differences between those formats, so I don't know what to choose. My original clips are 25 frames/sec, does it means that I have to choose the 25P?

My camera films in AVCHD 1080, 25fps. I currently use VideoStudeo x6. i have been using it for a while and when i export for youtube videos, i find its only quality video when you change the youtube video to HD. Is there a way to set the video, so its still crisp and clear at 360p/480p, as i find its always distorted at these levels, although the footage is amazing in hd. What are the exact project properties i should set and the file export settings.
I am fully aware of the settings for youtube, however is it because iam filming in AVCHd i cant get that clean crisp look at lower levels on youtube? as the best setting for youtube are mpeg files. for reference please check this video i did: [URL]......

I've recently upgraded my computer to Win 7 and then to PS CS6 Extended. Now when I process RAW files in ACR 8.1, I get an "Out of Memory" error if I do more than 70 ~ 80 - 24 mb files. Also, it's running really slow. It's taking nearly 50 seconds to process 1 - 24 mb file where PS CS3 and ACR 4.X it took only 17 for the same size file.
Computer Specs; 3.40Ghz, 4GB RAM (max for the motherboard), 120 GB HD "C", 40 GB Scratch Drive, Win 7
What I have done is made sure that the scratch drive is listed first for cache in both PS and ACR, then in ACR, set the cache to nearly 500,000. (I think these numbers are correct, I'm not at the offending computer now)So the questions are; do I need to make any changes to specific setting? Does PS CS6 and ACR 8.1 require more RAM?

I select the files in Bridge which are cropped, and the action I've created resizes to web resolution and saves as a JPG.
But when the files are processed, the images are not cropped, but full frame.

I've got a batch process set up, and want to run it on all opened files. I set the destination to "Folder", because I want to use the batch process's naming facilities. When I run the batch, it closes the files it works on. However, I want to perform subsequent batch actions on the files, so need them kept open. There's no Close function included in the batch action as far as I can tell.

Yesterday this was working; today it's not. When I try to process multiple files I get this error message: "Could not complete the Process Mulitple Files command because the disk is not available."
I'm on a Mac - 10.6.8. The disk is not full. I am trying to convert Open TIF files to JPGS. And like I said, this was working for me yesterday.
Here's what I've tried as far as troubleshooting:
1. Going to your username>library>preferences and deleting:
com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 paths
Adobe Photoshop Elements 10settings
repair permissions and try again.
2. restarting the editor while holding down command+shift+option, keeping the keys down till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. I did.
3. restarting the computer
4. shortening the file names
5. moving the destination file
Still no success.

I tested yesterday creating a video using "same as first video". All inserted files were AVCHD. The created video file, typed mpg, was missing audio no matter what I tried: tried mp4, avi, etc. I then turned off Smart Render in the options that pop-up when creating the video and it worked ( I have Smart Render turned off in the Preferences, BTW). This appears to be a bug or am I doing something wrong? In any case I am happy with this "work-around" Al

OK, so Sony in all their wisdom decided to hide nearly all the metadata from AVCHD videos in .modd and .moff files, which almost nothing seems to read. I don't suppose there is any way to access that data in Lightroom itself, and then embed in the file's metadata, or at least put it in the LR database??
I have also searched for a third party solution, and no beans. Sony Play memories Home can read it, but then can't do anything with it!
In a related issue, LR does show that there are the two sidecar files, but then fails to move them when the AVCHD files are moved.
It was disappointing that LR 5 didn't improve video features at all.
