VideoStudio :: AVCHD Lite Video Files Editing With X3

Nov 29, 2010

If the Pro X3 Service Pack includes dealing with AVCHD Lite video files?

It says "...the update provides: Updated camera support – broadened MPEG-4 capabilities add support for additional cameras, including selected cameras from Flip, Canon and more "

Just bought a Panasonic Lumix DMC-Zs7 wich shoots AVCHS Lite HD video and a lesser quality .MOV files as well. I wanna know if Prox3 can deal with these before I upgrade!! I have Prox2 right now.

VideoStudio :: Editing Video Using X3 - Render AVCHD Lite?

Mar 2, 2011

I am editing a video using VS X3 and am using both AVCHD 1080i and AVCHD lite 720p clips.

What would be the best format to retain quality when I render as a file and then copy onto a USB stick to play on my Bluray player? My player seems able to read most formats.

VideoStudio :: Creating Video Files In AVCHD Format

Oct 18, 2013

In order to create a video file in the AVCHD 1920X1080 format, I have the following options in the VSP X6:

AVCHD (1920X1080)
AVCHD (1920X1080, 24P)
AVCHD (1920X1080, 25P)
AVCHD (1920X1080, 50P)

What is the differences between those formats, so I don't know what to choose. My original clips are 25 frames/sec, does it means that I have to choose the 25P?

VideoStudio :: Convert AVCHD To AVI Before Editing In X3?

Feb 18, 2011

have a newly acquired Canon HF S21 video camera that captures footage in AVCHD. I plan on using Corel for capture and edit.

My question is for other AVCHD users. Do you use any tools to convert the files to .avi? And then edit those in VS X3 in order to aid the rendering process?

Someone refered me to Cineform Neoscene. It is a bit pricey, but here it is: [URL]

Is AVCHD really a problem in VS x3? If I convert to .avi, will I be able to render to a BD DVD later on and still retain the HD image as good as that on the original AVCHD footage?

VideoStudio :: Creating AVCHD Video

Feb 2, 2011

I am using VS2 and have been working on creating a "hybrid DVD" AVCHD video. I have a Canon HD video camera and an HP computer (w/regular DVD burner) with an i7 quad. Hybrid DVD is played on a Bluray player and HD TV. Everything is working well with editing the clips etc... Rendering has gone well with no real problems. I recorded video at the highest setting 24 Mbps. When I click on properties for a (m2ts) clip in the timeline it indicates 21,0000 to 22,000 Kbps that seems normal. I than go directly to the burn step (Create disc>AVCHD) and proceed to burn the disc at 4X. When I click on the middle icon (thumbwheel) these are the properties:

MPEG files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 29.97 fps
Upper Field First
(HDMV-NTSC), 16:9
H.264 Video
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 18000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 384 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)

These settings seem normal to me. Also, the "do not convert compliant......" is checked.

This is what I am not understanding. When the 18 minute HD project is brought into the burn disc module, it shows only 1.45 GB of data and after the disc is burned, the video file properties found on the disc show a total bit rate of 11,768. As a test with the same project, I did a (create video file>same as first clip) and created a mpg file that is 2.75 GB in size with a total bit rate of 21,649 which seems normal. I understand VS has a max of 18K but shouldn't I be able to create a hybrid disc with a data rate close to 18K. The video at the lower bit rate plays and look ok using my BR player but I wanted to find out if I could create a higher quality video on disc.

I have read probably every post relating to what I think my problem is and after trying a couple of things, I cannot increase the total bit rate of the video on my hybrid disc.

VideoStudio :: ProX4 AVCHD Video Blotchy During Motion On DVD

Apr 7, 2011

I'm about halfway through my 30 day trial of VS Pro X4, and starting to feel a little more comfortable with the software, but a few things are still puzzling me. Granted I've only scratched the surface of the SW capabilities so far.

I took the plunge and got a new Panasonic HDC-TM90K HD video recorder to replace my old 8mm analog Sony. I've only had the opportunity to use it several times, so far so good.

The Panasonic camera comes with HD Writer AE 3.0 software. Pretty rudimentary compared to VS Pro X4; does the basics, trimming, titles, transitions etc. Not bad, it works, but definitely not as sophisticated as VS Pro X4. However I need software that can capture the 8mm tapes I'm converting, which the Panasonic SW cannot, really don't want to learn/use two software packages so hence trying to focus on VS Pro X4. See thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=41255 for my question re: mpeg compression.

Using the Panny HD Writer SW I was able to capture and burn AVCHD DVD's from the Panny camera SW without issue, not too difficult considering this is my firt time doing all this stuff. AVCHD DVD's play just fine on my Sony Blu-Ray.

I tried capturing the same video content from the Panny camera with VS Pro X4 and could not. VS Pro X4 is stating there is no camera attached. I believe the Panny SW is hijacking the USB connection first and hence is controlling the connection to the camera. I tried looking for some services that the Panny SW has running and closed the auto-run of the Panny SW, but still no luck. I haven't tried uninstalling the Panny SW, that's next.

I was however able to import the files from the Panny camcorder using the import function in VS Pro X4 by selecting the files I wanted. Imported files are the exact same size as the files imported in the Panny HD Writer AE 3.0 SW.

Was able to make a simple little video by adding a title, couple of transitions between clips etc, couple of chapter markers. All went fairly well. Then did "Share > Create Disc", used the default (only) disc template that came in the VS Pro X4 SW trial, selected AVCHD and burn disc, no issues, until I went to play the disc in my Sony Blu-Ray. Once the action in the video picked up and there was significant motion in the video the video started to break up, don't know the technical name for it, digital artifacts maybe? It doesn't look like the deinterlacing examples I've seen, which appear to be unaligned thin lines, this is more blotchy, like blocks of data not being filled in.

So then I tried it again and selected 2 pass conversion, this time it worked, which is good, but does that need to be done anytime your burning HD content to a AVCHD DVD?

VideoStudio :: AVCHD Video Exports As Laggy Out Of Sync Movie

Dec 8, 2011

I am having problems exporting my AVCHD file to my hard drive. The original file works fine in the preview window, but then exports as a very jerky video. The program I am using is VSX4 Ultimate, and there are no more updates available.

The video I am trying to export came from a camcorder SD card and has these properties:

File format: NTSC HDMV
Video Type: H.264 Video
Attributes: 24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 16:9
Data Rate: Variable bit rate (Max 26000 kbps)
Audio type: Dolby Digital Audio
Audio Bit rate: 256 kbps

Here are the project properties:
NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Upper Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 16:9
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo

My goal is to export the video to my computer and have it look as good as it does in the preview.

VideoStudio :: Burning H.264 Video File In M2TS Format To AVCHD DVD

Aug 20, 2011

I have a h.264 video file in .m2ts format, captured using a TV card, and I want to burn this to an AVCHD DVD. I've been trying to do this with VSX4. I don't want the video to be re-encoded because it's already in a suitable format. If I open X4, and then Create Disc and insert the video, the video plays fine and everything looks OK. However, when I click Burn on the final screen, I get a message saying that the video will take some time to render (oddly, since I've chosen the option not to convert compatible files, and VS seems to be taking notice of this choice because if I de-select it, the video size on the disc indicator increases). If I click OK, the rendering process seems to start but it jumps to 3% and then nothing happens. It just sits there.

I thought maybe VS had a problem with the video, so I tried inserting it onto the timeline, and I can edit and output it from there without any problems. But, I can't burn it to AVCHD DVD without re-encoding it, which I don't want to do because it will reduce the quality of what is already a compatible file.

VideoStudio :: Matching Project Settings To AVCHD Video Clip - X3?

May 28, 2011

I'm trying to match the project settings to an imported HD video clip (1920x1080 *.mts).I've been using videoStudio for years but only in 720x480 SD. I just got a Panasonic HDC-SDT750PP HD camera and want to make sure the video output file makes the most out of both camera and X3 but in project settings it only allows 720x480.

Does the project setting have any affect on the final video file? The properties of the video file says 1920x1080 24b H264 yet the source file extension is *.mts

My intention is to create a HD video file that I burn to a Hybrid DVD until I get a Blu-ray burner but what format to save the file in if the X3 project setting only goes to 720x480.

VideoStudio :: Panasonic AVCHD Files

Aug 22, 2012

Earlier this year I purchased a Panasonic HDC-DS800 high definition camcorder. After years of editing ATI files, I'm going to use my VideoStudio (X4) to edit AVCHD files.

To get the files from the camcorder to the computer, there are 2 options. One is to go directly to the SD card on the camcorder through the My Computer option. This gives me .MTS files, which I can transfer to my hard drive.

The other option is to use the software supplied with the camcorder, which is HD Writer AE 3.0. This transfers to my hard drive .m2ts files. Along with the .m2ts files, it also transfers (or creates) .tmb files, .pmpd files, and .cont files.

VideoStudio :: X3 - Editing 1080 / 50p Video

Oct 14, 2010

I upgraded to X3 and it will happily load 1920 x 1080 @ 50p x264/AVC files from a Pan HDC-HS700 just fine (and reports the details correctly but as PAL HDMV). As I play these back in native form on my HTPC (and they look stunning) I just want to EDIT them, then smart render them out in the same format.

This is where I seem to come unstuck, as if I choose "Create Video FIle --> Same as First Video Clip", X3 wants to pump it out as PAL, MPEG 720 x 576 @25fps! I can also not find or create a template that matches the specs of the format.

So
1) Can X3 handle 1920 x 1080 @ 50p x264/AVC out of the box
2) Is there a "tweak" like old versions where you can expose additional CODEC settings to handle 1920 x 1080 @ 50p x264/AVC
3) ....if not what alternative software does work with 1920 x 1080 @ 50p x264/AVC (as Pana's bundled HD Writer is very limited)
