AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Latitude And Longitude Precisions
Nov 5, 2012I have a customer who needs to have a precision of 5 decimal places for Lat and Long. Currently the style can be set to 4 (0.0001).
Any way to get 0.00001?

Point number, Lat, Long, Pole tag, Dams_ No, Height, Yr Installed, QSEC.
I have created a new point format with Point number, lat, long and the last 5 colums i created with User-Defined (data type is String)
When I import the point, it said doesn't match with point format.
Is there a way to create points using latitude and longitude. i have some borehole to be located on my project and the location information was given to as latitude and longitude.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a file in autocad with something like 24,000 points of objects that include the x,y coordination in autocad... so i export all the point to a text file because i want to have all this point in my database of my site (i am using Google maps to see all the point on the map) but, the problem is that the x,y point is not in the correct format like the Google maps need... an example for some point:
181447.163751433,643530.564881084
But i need it to be with latitude and longitude... any formula to change this xy point to longitude and latitude and i will do it with c# or there some other way to do it?
When I look at the LatLong choices while in the "Select Global Coordinate System", I see a longer list than I expected. Which of these choices is most consistent with the Latitude and Longitude system Google Maps uses?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThere seems to be a bug somewhere in the way Lightroom 4 is exporting GPS information. The GPS data is fine in the .xmp file and in Lightroom 4 (shows up on the map okay)but when I export the RAW file to a JPG then the GPS info in the file properties (Windows 7) reads like a 2 or 3 long integers (for example -2147483648; etc). This may be normal but when I import the file into Photoshop Elements 10, the GPS info appears as zeros and when I upload the jpg to flickr, the GPS info is absent.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI wish to input the GPS data (latitude, longitude) manually in the ways:
- Insert the value directly into the GPS field on the image (in map mode). It is pretty hard. In fact, I try to copy/paste value but I failed. I wish to be able to simply add manually GPS data to a picture.
- Move the map to a point giving llatitude, longitude. Maybe add a field close to "search".
I've mapped a grid onto a sphere. The latitude lines look fine. But the vertical longitude lines come out wiggly!
I've tried different sizes of the grid graphic. I've tried rendering preference quality and rendering the file.
My laptop Dell Latitude E5420 is not recognising my camcorder. I tried with two of my mini DV camcorders, both of them are not recognised. When I connect through the IEEE1394 port on the laptop, it doesn't respond at all. In UL VS or any other video capture programs, the camcorder is not recognised, but only my laptop built in web camera is recognised.
Tried with changing IEEEE1394 host controller with Legacy in the Device Manager, but doesn't work.
I imported Google earth surface (at eye alt 600m) to civil 3d 2012 and created an alignment of length 181m.
When I exported same alignment to Google earth , it showed the length as 190m ( the difference increases with increase in length of alignment) And also the profile view of the alignment in the Civil D & Google earth varies.
I want to create a Layer Filter that excludes both Civil Layers and Xrefs.
I have created one that excludes Civil objects (Excel Civil.jpg) but when I add a filter for excluding xrefs as well the Civil objects appear in the filter again indeed all the layers are included again (Excel Xref.jpg) if I invert the filter nothing is displayed.
Is it possible to export created surface from civil to revit architecture? If yes , How? And if its not possible - maybe i can somehow import cogo points to revit?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to work on a previous file in my office, and when it opens on mycomputer, it does not display as it should.
In general, the purpose of the project is to reinstate the side slopes of a road abutting a river. Cut & fill sections have been generated on 20m station increments along the road corridor/surfaces in order to calulate cut and fill as well as to reference the design to flood levels.
When I open the file, all of these sections (and there are alot) have relocated themselves to various locations in model space, none of which are aligned with the viewports that are being used for printing.
Could it be software and/or hardware incompatibility with the computer they were originally created on? (I believe it was created with C3D 2010, or C3D 2011 - I am currently running 2012)
Just curious as to whether people use much colour in their production drawings, particularly for hatches...?
Working for Local Government, we tend to utilise colour hatches to show all kinds of information.
Generally, we have found that colour hatches are a good way to clearly show different areas and materials such as pavements, paths, landscape areas etc. Hatches can then be used to quickly ascertain areas for estimation and our construction team like them too as the plans tend to be easier to read.
The usual arguments about reproduction of plans and slowing down of computers doesn't seem to be an issue for us. Most photocopiers are in colour now anyway and we just make sure that even in black & white the plans are readable.
The way that Civil 3D deals with hatching doesn't seem to slow things down for us either.
Currently using Civil 3D 2013 & 2014 SP1
Right now, the only way I know of being able to see Civil grading objects (surface contours, spot elevations, slopes, etc) while using plain vanilla AutoCAD is to explode everything and export to a lower version.
I'm trying out a trial of AutoCAD 2013 to test things, and my Civil drawing shows up as boxes/text when xrefed into another drawing without doing the task above.
I'm looking for a more efficient way to see grading using AutoCAD (not Civil). Civil is expensive, and I'd like to downgrade the drafters who don't know how to use the Civil functions (and never will), but still need grading to show as a dynamic xref in the background of the drawings they're working on. Problem is, if I have to explode and export my drawing every time I want to update the grading xref in their drawing, it wastes more time than I'd like.
Is this the only way and I have to live with it, or am is there an easier way that I haven't dug up yet? I know I'm not an expert at Civil, so I may be going about this all wrong.
Is there a way to search for a text style in a civil style? I have a text style that our company is trying to get rid of and I would very much like to not have to go through our 72 company styles.

I've begun creating my drawing template with all my layers and each layer has a plot style attached to it. The line weight is set to default. I am doing a test plot with a drawing that I have to see what it looks like. The pen table is set to my .stb table but when I go to preview, my linework doesn't show up.
I have checked my setting for my layers to make sure that they are set to plot.
In my plot dialog box, if I uncheck "Plot with plot styles" I can see the linework but it doesn't plot right (plots in color). Unchecking "plot object lineweights" doesn't do anything either. What am I missing?
How R is calculated in the C3D?
I’m wondering regarding the equation used to calculate the radius of the circular curve. Is it the one attached? How the horizontal curve is updated as the design speed is changed?Ja

To my knowledge this file has not been renamed and definitely not been deleted...Has been moved, but does that matter? The attached image is the error i get when trying to load .cuix as a partial in CUI dialogue box. I cannot load from CUILOAD, either.
I have verified that another cui of the same name is not already loaded.

I have publish in background turned off and I am using Civil 3D 2013
When it crashes I get the following Error message:
FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0xddadd6d8 Exception at 771d8359h
Why does Exporting to DXF (any version other than 2013) fail, every single time?
First, we always get this error during the save. The save appears to finish OK in spite of the error.
But when you try to open the DXF using DWG Trueview, we get this error.
If we export out to 2013 DXF, the resulting file can be opened, but this doesn't do us much good.

I have been trying to import/export information to create a flood map using hec ras. I succesfully (not without some pain), imported the geometric data into HEC RAS and did my analysis. I create the .sdf and try to import it to Civil 3D, but, while it appears to have imported succesfully, it does not show the water lines.
As a matter of fact, CIVIL3D indicates at some point that the minimim and maximum elevations are both 0.00m.
I checked the .sdf file, which I attach, and it looks fine to me. It has the information of the water level as it should.
I have AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010, and I want to export some sections to HEC RAS, but I can't find the tool that allows me to do that, how can I find it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI performed an analysis on a system, but when I play the video some of the pipe segments the water line jumps back and forth angling in different directions. Some of the pipes get full and then the water line just drops down to the bottom. I also cannot get the pipes to drain at the end, I tried running the analysis for a long time span and it just sits at the point that it wants.

when I created a Top surface, C3D showed me otherwise. I need a gap at an intersection. In the attached DWG the intersection corridor has been removed from view by isolate.
I used 2 seperate baselines to force the road corridor to have a gap at the intersection.
Looked OK .. except ..later .. when I created a Top surface, only the first baseline is used to create the surface, the second baseline is skipped : (
I obviously did not make a gap correctly. What is the correct way? Or.. is there no way .. must the designer create multiple seperate corridors when the road has gaps?

When I use this method needMaintainEdge does not make any difference. The edges are never maintained. However this works when using the command in Civil 3D. Is this a bug?
