I working on a project in Revit Architecture and I have the Mechanical (MEP) and Structural (Structure) models linked into my model. I need to reference a detail in the structural model/sheet set. Is there a way to do that without creating a false callout tag with linework?
View 1 RepliesI am doing the structural frame of a house with curved walls and I needed to use the Model in Place command to create a curve shaped column. I defined it's category as Structural Column, but it takes the fill pattern of the wall. When I isolate the column, it has the same fill pattern as the column from the library. I need that the column will be displayed as the other structural column.

Is there a way for the same label to flip along the main horizontal reference plane of a section tag?
We do not use the traditional circle head and when the head needs to rotate or flip the 'pointer' lands on top of the label.
I think I have exhausted all combinations of checked/unchecked boxes for 'Keep readable' and such.
How do I convert Detail Lines to non-plotting Reference Lines or Reference Planes? (or to a reference line that would not plot in the future?).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a complex building which has floors that 'shift' meaning the floors are at different angles.
I have used sheets to create elevation pages using the elevations revit creates but as there is no shading it is impossible to tell that there are different layers to the building at different points (I have added photos to show this) It looks ok if I use the 3D model instead as that uses shadowing but I can only put one view of it in the sheet.
I either need to find out how to add shadow or how to add more views f the 3D model to show the buildings shape.
I've got a 3D structural model I'm building and will insert 3D mechanical models that I have previously made. I just xref'd the client survey in such that 0,0,0 on my structural model lines up my drawing with the survey.
However, even with the xref frozen and off, when I go Zoom Extents, I zoom to the extent of the xref when I'd prefer to zoom to the extent of my live drawing. I've xclip'd the reference to only include an area slightly larger than the live dwg I'm working on, but no dice.
I think it's functioning correctly, so how do I do a zoom that takes me to the extent of my live dwg and ignores the size of the xref under it?
I was following a tutorial when he created a structural plan where he'd place his footings. when i tried it on my Revit Architecture 2014, i found out that i didn't have that feature. is there any way i can turn it on?
i'm not sure if he's using revit architecture because he just refers to it as Revit 2014. i made a floor plan below the 0 mark but things will be tidier if i could make structural plan views.
In my 3D View my walls disappear when I de-select the structural box. Although drawn as regular walls they are store front panels so carry no load other than their own weight. My Visibility Graphics dialog box seems to have limited options for this. Am I missing something? How do I get them to re-appear in my 3D View for rendering without switching them to a structural wall?

View 6 Replies View RelatedWe are using structural steel framing familiies which are sloping in section. Where the view range cuts, the framing does not and the entire member is visible including above the cut plane.
The members are set to cut in plan in "Visiilbity Settings." The view is set to "Fine."
1) Why structural columns don't show up in architectural plans. The only way I can see to coordinate the structure with the architectural elements is to use structural plans.
2) How to make structural columns visible in architectural plans? I've tried the visibility graphics but everything seems to be turned on by default.
I'd like to change the line thickness of these structural columns, but changing the view graphics doesn't override.
View 3 Replies View Relatedhow to change the demolished and temporary appearances of non-structural elements such as railiings, plumbing fixtures etc?It is straigh forward to use phase overides to change the appearance of Walls etc that are either demolished or temporary, but however you change these appearances non structural elements stubbornly remain with a dotted blue outline. I want demolished railings and other non-structural elements to appear with a red hidden line style but have been unable to find out how this can done.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow can I move a detail view to another sheet in a drawing in 2009? I have only been able to copy the detail and it's parent view to the 2nd sheet and then suppress the parent view on the 2nd sheet so that only the detail view is visible.
However, when I go back to the first sheet and try to suppress or delete the detail view, it also deletes / suppresses the detail circle from the parent view.
Revit Architecture 2014? I've been trying to use the structural beam system, but when I select the joist I cannot select the start/end extension in the properties dialog box. I would like to know why is that?

The labels must also indicate the appropriate drawing cross reference. (basically a circle with a arrow, text inside circle showing drawing cross reference). My question is - is there an automated way/library to insert such labels or do I have to create each of them from individual elements and make a block?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using project navigator and I want to use the intelligent title marks created by the Mode Space View drawing that is created when I use the Detail Boundary.
I have purchased a 5 hour block of support time on this and after 4 days they have not found a result for me and are looking to developers at this point.
My issue is this. I xref in the floor plan that I want to use to make some enlarged floor plan details out of. I have a custom high detail display configuration set for this view drawing. I use the detial boundary tool that adds the detail boundary and tag and then created my model space view with an intelligent titlemark that will then reflect the number and sheet when inserted into a sheet drawing.
The problem is trying to get this MSV to reflect what I see on the floor plan. As of now it just brings in a enlarged detail of the area but it's all the same color with no hatch detail.
I can change the result of what I get by selecting the “model space view” that I created and then going to properties and changing the “display controlled by” on the display tab of the properties of that object. If I change that to “Drawing default setting” then the result is set to whatever the drawing default settings are. It looks like the “default settings” for a 2D Section/Elevation object are “General” Display Representations.
how to get my custom “Bew_High Detail” display representation to be the default Display Representation of the “2D Section/Elevation” object then I think I would get my desired results.
Background: Our company has decided to switch from drafting in AutoCAD to Inventor (which we already use to model) and we have started looking at making our templates intuitive using iProperties, parameters, and functions to reduce manual entry of part information in turn to reduce human error. None of us have any experience coding besides a bit of LISP.
Problem: Perhaps it is a pipe dream, but one thing I would really like resolved is we have no connection between the Parts list information (specifically item number and quantity) on the assembly sheet and the part detail on another sheet. Our custom part detail title block pulls the material information and "Inventory Part Number" from custom iProperties we have set up at the part level, but we still need to reference the parts list in the other sheet and then manually enter the item number and quantity. Is there a way to use the "Inventory Part Number" property (which shows up in the parts list on a different sheet) to populate our custom block?

I'd like to create a 3D view of an element to be able to use in different projects. The best logical way I can think of would be to create such element in a project just for that purpose, create 3D views with annotation and then somehow import only those 3D views to the project i'm working on...
I think it can't be done this way but it shows what I want to achieve.

I'm trying to make a layoout on Revit. I have done sections and plans made on Revit and all is ok. But when I try to create a rectangular detail, such as in Plan, which contains a CAD file, I noticed that since the center of Revit is not aligned with the center of the dwg, the detail is moved and takes up a very large rectangle . When I try to drag the window "detail of Plan" within the table layout, the rectangle occupies the entire sheet.
