I have a structural model linked into my architectural and I cannot seem to cut the link in sections. All I can see is the 'elevation' of the link whilst my architectural cuts. I have the link set as by host view and the view extents correct.
View 4 RepliesIm using sing Designer Pro X9, I have a large photograph and I would like to make links in different sections in the photograph so when the cursor goes over a section a popup layer with text would appear and go away when cursor is moved away again. I have tried putting layers over it but I cant get more than one layer to work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a small problem, trying to print from R 2013 some pdf's of a long section of a building...aprox 30 m.With a scale of 1 to 20 ,,,the pdf just looks bad and unclear when you get to zoom a little bit in it.What am I doing wrong,although I use settings like highg quality pdf and so on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe just upgraded a project from 2012 to 2013. After upgrading, there are two floors which do not show up as cut in any sections (they displayed correctly in 2012). The two floors in question appear in the section, but not as cut elements (no cut pattern) and it is showing edges of the floor that should be well behind where the section is cut. One floor is 8" concrete and has been made to slope using the modify sub elements command. The other floor is a variable thickness floor modified in the same way to be the earth below the concrete floor since the topo is not nimble enough to follow the shape of the concrete floor.
I tried remodelling the floors. No luck.
I can model it in a separate file, cut sections in that file and have it display correctly. If I insert or paste that into the main model, it goes back to displaying incorrectly.
Our structural engineer had copied the lake floor into their model which is linked into ours, so I deleted the lake floors in the structural model, reloaded it and then remodeled the floors again. And it worked... in only one of the dozens of sections that show the lake floors! So that's one more than before...
In one of the attached images you can see the sloping lake floor and the earth floor below it as it should appear and in the other image you see them both in elevation rather than section. The 3d image shows the lake floor and the surrounding "earth floors". The center of the lake floor is 7'-0" below the outermost perimeter of the floor.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am laying out a simple structure. Bearing wall to bearing wall is 35’, with a few non bearing walls between the bearing walls. I will be using a truss to span from bearing wall to bearing wall. What would be the best work flow for the drywall ceiling material. The ceiling seems to require a core element. I cannot seem to manage drywall alone. If I create a ceiling with 2x4 core and drywall finish and create a ceiling over the whole area the ceiling seems to auto dim to the ceiling finish and not the core 2x4. Then there is the issue of the clean up at the top plate were the wall and ceiling finishes meet

How can we show the Horizontal sections in sectional view and how can we split the horizontal section such that the drop is vertical.
I know that one workaround to show vertical drop is to use plan region on the Horizontal Plan View. But is there a better way? If not is autodesk looking forward to incorporate this in further releases?
I want to create sections and plans showing interior finishes. As walls are all of the same structure I used the split face tool. When applying 'paint' to the face it only gives me the options of materials not fill patterns i.e. hatches. How do I get it to apply hatches or is there a visibility setting that i need to change.

For instance I have a wall section with insulation in it and have placed detail components (2x4's) as top and tie plates. When I tag the insulation it shows a question mark, I edit the question mark to the desired insulation note no problems. However when I go to tag the top and tie plates they come in with the same note as the insulation. When I edit the note for the top plate it changes the insulation as well. How do I keep this from happening?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have an issue here where a user has N/S/E/W elevations of a building or radial type layout. Then there are sections derived from these elevations. If you open up the section pointing north and south you can place radial dimensions on the view needed. If you go into the section pointing east/west you cannot. It starts the command, just doesn't allow you to pick anything. I will post a sample file in a sec.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAn architect sent me his revit file, it contains the full model and all the floor plan views and drawing sheets. He has floor plan views set up for each floor and some enlarged views as well. On each floor plan view each room has a tag that contains room name and room number and every door has a tag that contains the door number.
When I create a new file and link in his file so I can then start working, doing what we need to do, adding devices, etc. The problem is, the architect's room tags and door tags dont link in, and if they do I cant see them. I've gone through every possible combination in the visibility/graphics options to no avail.
Room and door info linking in should be a basic function of revit; how could autodesk expect mech, elec, plumbing engineers to create drawings that have zero room and door info?
If it matters, I'm working in Revit 2010.
ive recently started to work with DBLink and access 2013 to make take offs mainly. Today i made a small project to test some ideas and found an inconsistency between the material areas and the area of the element, a wall in this case, to which the material is apllied. I think they should be the same, or at least very close, but that´s not the case when i export to access. I've attached a image with a material takeoff schedule from revit and the correspondent query from access (element type name, element area, material name, material area, material volume, material area/element area). The revit one seems correct, but in access the material area values are very different. Initially i thought it would be due to units difference, like the material area were in sq cm and the element area in sq m, but the relationship between them isn´t 10, as you can see in the calculated value. Then i added the material volume to the schedule and query and the results on access are even more strange, i can´t even imagine where this values came from.

We are new to Revit, and have done a couple of projects in Revit. We have separate models for arch, mech and elect (no struct, this is done outside our office). We currently link models to each other as needed, the architect will link mech and elec. The mech eng. will link arch and elec and so on. Mention the use of a blank model onto which you link all models. I never got a chance to ask the individual how they use it or how it would benefit the process.

I wanted them to create a drop-down list of materials within the family to allow a user to select from the list of materials. This is accomplished by using a nested family - the inserted family has the materials defined. The drop-down list appears just fine in the properties, but we aren't able to apply it to the extrusion. I have tried inserting each family type and using the Label parameter, but Revit won't allow the link.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm messing around with tables and data links, practicing. I copied a range of cells in Excel, and did paste special to create a linked table.
Now I can delete the table object, but I cannot delete the link, cannot detach it.
When in Data Manager if I right click on the data link and click delete I get the error message "The data link is being used and cannot be deleted".
I have tried detaching, and the detach does not seem to take.
Now also, the table will not update from the source xls.
Win XP, AcadLT 2011, Office 2010. Using compatible setting for saving spreadsheet, for Office 2007 (not xlsx).
If I create a linked table by starting with the Table icon, choose "from a data link", choose the excel spreadsheet, etc., then I am able to later update the table from the spreadsheet, detach, delete the link, etc. But I can only delete the link if the table is not selected when I open the Data Link Manager.
But the one that was created following the directions from the Autocad video, with the copy, paste special, that link will not detach nor delete.
Does Revit DB LInk 2013 is compatible with Access 2013?
