View 6 RepliesI have created a big and complex Revit model, in Revit 2013. It's now time for me to print the sheets - I want them in PDF and DWF. But I really have some problems doing that. When I print to PDF it takes about 20 minutes for it to print 1 drawing - and it will not be complete - elements are missing compared to the original view. Often Revit stops working - and it's the same story when I try to save a DWF.
I think the reason why I have the problem is because of the complexity of the building's geometry. Have modeled it by importing SAT. files from Rhino - to create the form. The result is great but the file is now 370 Mb. I'm trying to link the model in to a new Revit project to minimize the file, and hopefully get the drawings printed in PDF and DWF. In the the new project I can't see the sheets from the linked file though.
Is there a way to link the sheets to another procjet?
If I have several sheets of several floors, and I want the views in each sheet to be positioned at exactly the same position. How do I best accomplish that?
You can use the "Guide Grid" to place the views on a sheet. Then you can align the view (using the grid lines) to this guide grid. In the other sheets, you can use again the same guide grid, just select the guide grid name in the properties of the sheet.
Additional information about guide grid is available in the Revit help, search for "Aligning views on a sheet" or "Guide Grid".
how I can change the revisions to multiple sheets quickly, instead of going into each and every sheet and manually changing the revision?
Surely Autodesk has a fast and simple way to do this.
We are looking for an easy straightforward way to print / export an entire set of sheets to pdf.The sheets have different papersizes and we want them to be named with the sheet number + name, and possible a prefix by choice. We have Adobe Acrobat X installed as pdf printer. So far we managed to print an entire set to pdf with these somewhat annoying issues:
1. The naming adds the word "sheet" between the chosen prefix and number-name.can we get rid of this?
2. The prints seem only to follow the actual Revit Print-setup, on papersizes.Which means that we need to have print-sessions on every paper size used in a project.Strange that in Revit the paper print-setup, doesnt follow the sheet definitions.(?)Is there a way within Revit to solve this to a more automated workflow?Or do we have to implement third party plugiins / solutions?
Sometimes when I print multiple sheets to a Combined PDF file Revit goes through the process and combines all of the sheets in one PDF file but then it continues to re- print the PDF file as many times as the number of sheets.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen creating plan and profile sheets with multiple alignments in the view, what is a common practice in civil 3d?
- Data shortcut all alignments that are in the view into the plan and profile model
- Create a dwg that has all the alignments data shortcutted and xref that into the plan and profile dwg
- Create a dwg for each alignment and xref into an overall alignment dwg via attach and then xref the overall into the pp sheets dwg model.

I new to using the view frame groups we do allot of double plan view 11x17 sheets using an alignment on top of MrSid aerial drawings. It is very time consuming to setup the viewports along the alignment doing the old fashion method of copying the page setup and sliding the model space along the alignment for the next sheet. I understand the plan profile and cross section methods of creating multiple sheets and how the viewframe group works for those type of sheets. I'm just not sure how to create a dwt template for one plan view on top of another plan on the same sheet with to viewports. I know I'm not the only person that creates road cl double planviews when your not concerned about a profile.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm currently Building a Library Technology Hub that has 3 story atrium. I'm trying to create a 3d camera view that shows the multiple levels that open to the atrium. However, only the 1st floor and mezanine floor (within 1st floor ceiling heights) are in my 3d view. The rendred view shows as if I have a solid ceiling across the entire 1st floor. I am almost positive that this is an issue with my camera settings since my 2nd and 3rd floors are cut around the atrium opening. I have clicked on almost every option in my properties menu and am at a loss!
Just btw, I'm an intermediate level, self-taught revit user (I have used it on a daily basis for about a year now). I'm no guru, but I'm quite savvy on making things work like I want them to.
I have attached a test render of the space. the "ceiling" should be open above my mezanine, and extend to desk at the right and the lounge seating at the left. However, it has rendered as a single plane.
Any intelligent way of referencing the sheet with the parent view? E.g. i put a detail or section view on Sheet 2 from a parent view on Sheet 1 and want to reference from what sheet the view is taken from.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf you have a large project and many outside walls have large sections that are the same can you create exterior dimensions on a number of different levels that are tied together. In other words they are the same annotation done once for all those levels without cutting and pasting or doing the same dimensioning on the different levels, which is very error prone and the chances of different dimsions showing on different levels that are supposed to be the same is very large.
I am thinking of something like bing able to x-ref the dimensions like you can do in autocad. Is anything like this posssible in Revit?
No problems so far when I check the "Export views on sheets and links as external references" but when I do not check that box some dimension strings move ridiculously far away from the location as seen in Revit. This project is huge and we do not want XREFs for every single sheet (DWG file). Each view on the sheet is exported as a DWG block. I could modify each view with this problem, but it beats the point of exporting. Attached is a sample file.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe usually print our sheets to PDF from REVIT. However, whenever a sheet has a 3D view with shade and shadow the PDF file has what appears to be a bunch of rasterized tiled boxes. Of which the borders of these boxes show up through the 3D image.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using AutoCAD Civil 3d 2012. I have succesfully created a View Frame Group (VFG) from an alignment and then created Plan Profile sheets from that View Frame group. I did create the sheets in a separate file from the View Frame group (that is an option when you create the sheets). It appears that if I change a View Frame using the grips, the corresponding sheet viewport doesn't change based on the edits to the view frame. I must manually update the sheet plan viewport to align with the edited location of the view frame. Is there a way AutoCAD will do this automatically or does it just not do that? Do I have to create the whole sheet set again or can I just recreate that one sheet? I don't want to do that since create the sheet will create a new profile view.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have to two sheets layed out in one drawing in Auto CAD 2012, a tilte sheet and the building plan. How can I send that to one PDF file (one PDF file with both sheets) using the 'DWG to PDF.pc3' option?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am a AutoCAD LT 2012 user. How do i publish transparent stamp in multiple sheets?
This "plot transparency" check box only appears in "PLOT" printing and not in "PUBLISH"printing.
In my company they draw out multiple pages of construction drawings in 1 file. They do all their sketching off to the side and then bring the finish detail onto the sheet that will be plotted out later.
They then start a new sheet below it and continue onward until they have 20 plus drawings in one DWG file.
What I want to do is print each drawing individually to whatever plotter or printer I set up. I can't batch file as I understand it because there are so many pages of a print in 1 drawing. Because all the DWG file has multiple pages I have to go thru several windows to get each page plotted out.
Is there a script or batch file that I can use that I can set up the plot and then for example highlight the page I want to send to the printer then go to the next print, highlight it and it gets sent to the printer without having to set up the plot again?
We use Autocad 2000 so I am working with a basic set up here without a lot of frills the later versions have. I am trying to get them to seperate the pages but that isn't working for the earlier drawings they have done.
I would like to be able to add a single revision to all sheets at once. For example when doing a major issue of all sheets for building approval. In this case I don't use revision clouds but use the "Revisions on Sheet" function in the properties for the individual sheet. Hence the problem, having to individually select every sheet one by one and add the revision to each sheet. Is there a way to multiple select all or some sheets and just do it once? I've tried doing this through a schedule but that doesn't let you select and change a revision either. Is there an add-in that could do this perhaps?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have several users utilizing the same printer. To prevent sheets from different jobs from mixing, and a large quantity of pages sitting in the printer, each print job is queued in the printer until the sender requests that it be printed at the printer. With Revit, the problem is that each sheet is sent as a separate print job, meaning that a 300 sheet print jobe requires me to stand at the printer and request that each one be printed (300 requests). In AutoCAD, the PUBLISHCOLLATE variable sends all sheets in a publish operation as a single job. Is there a way to do this in Revit 2011?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe most annoying in the style sheets, view manager since x3 is still existed in the x6 as style sheet sets having unnecessary styles which i have not created besides color styles & view manager as well. Are they not considered anyhow ?
Default style set is ok and Styles is also ok to create our own but Why this nuisance of style sets which are having a lot of dump. Truly view manager is unnecessary docker i think but have lots of zoomed data.
I am creating plan sheets and using the sheet creation tool. The plan sheets I am looking to make have stacked view, similar to a plan and profile sheet, only they have the horizontal alignment in both views.
I have a template set up with two viewports, but when I try to create the sheets it puts the same view frame in both of the viewports. Is there any way to set this template up so that I can have, lets say, STA 100+00 - 110+00 in the top viewport and then STA 110+00 - 120+00 in the bottom viewport. I understand that I can move the viewports once they are created, but I would rather have that done automatically. I am not sure if what I want done is possible with Civil 3D.
is it possible to do an individual revision table for multiple sheet drawings. if you typed in description 'sheet 3 nut changed from m3 to m5......etc' then all the bunf would carry over to every sheet
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a drawing that is 14"x12" and have a printer that can only handle 8.5 x 11 sheets. I need to print it out full scale because I plan on using the drawing to cut something out. View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving now worked out a method of adding custom labels to sheets via a shared parameter file I want to know if there is an easier way of making these parameters fully functional in any project without having to set project parameters in the file.
The method is (assuming starting with New > Family > Titleblock or some sort of Sheet family ):
Create shared param .txt file (Manage>Shared Params>Create) - then browse for that new file to load (within Edit family sheets)Group>New then Params>new (make sure param names are unique and distinct from system parms for text labels) - set Type to TextThen addtext label (add param at bottom LHS > Select > Edit > Browse to open shared param file) then add your custom param to Label Params table. When the sheet is loaded into a project the custom labels will not be editable.
This is the annoying bit having to set up proect params in each project:Manage > Proj Params > Add > Shared Param > Select > Edit > Browse to shared param file > select each custom param in term > OK >Group Param = Title Text and set Category to Sheets. The custom parameter will now be editable (each shows as ? and not been able to find a way of showing a default label text.
Is it really necessary to do this (step 5) with every project file or is there a way of loading a custom sheet and setting project parameters automatically?
Also is there any way of adding (or editing) params to the System Family for drawing sheets. An example is scale where the sys param updates to the first loaded view scale, then if a different scale vies is loaded, changes to "As indicated". I prefer to quote the main scale. Additionally the System file date param is the current date. My preference is set the date to first issue and then list revision dates separately (which is a common company standard in the UK).
I am using the student version of Revit and have desparately been trying to create a document that would print to scale. I use PDF creator to convert Revit to pdf, but it always comes messed up by an inch or so...insted of 4.6, it prints 4.75 (or the other way around). I tried formating my title block in many different ways, including deleting the outer lines. Nothing works. There is no Arch D format in the family of titleblocks. I am a complete beginner, just started using Revit a couple months ago, with no knowledge of CAD or anything similar. When I look at the PDF creator page of my doc, it shows that the doc has been properly sized, but when the print place prints it out, it is off by 1" or so.
How do I format my sheet so it prints to scale in format 24" X36"?
Whenever I try to print sheets that contain shaded (or better) 3D views, these 3D views do not appear on my prints/Pdf's/DWFx's. I've tried different PDF-drivers and hardcopy printers that are in my office, but they all don't work.
Some things that maybe can narrow the cause down:
- Printing a single 3D view to a DWFx works
- Printing a single 3D view to PDF or hardcopy printer doesn't work
- Printing a Hidden Line view on sheets works on alle printers
- 2013; printing a sheet containing 3D views works. When upgrading the same project to 2014, the same sheet fails.
I have made some sheets in 1 revit file and made elevation views and put them on the sheets. Now I want to move those sheets to another file.
Is it possible or do you just have to make new sheets and views? It doesn't look like is works within 'Transfer Project Standards'.....
there i wanted to know a method to control my view frames range or how to do so in the sheets ,
