Revit :: 3D Camera View That Shows Multiple Levels That Open To Atrium?
Nov 4, 2013
I'm currently Building a Library Technology Hub that has 3 story atrium. I'm trying to create a 3d camera view that shows the multiple levels that open to the atrium. However, only the 1st floor and mezanine floor (within 1st floor ceiling heights) are in my 3d view. The rendred view shows as if I have a solid ceiling across the entire 1st floor. I am almost positive that this is an issue with my camera settings since my 2nd and 3rd floors are cut around the atrium opening. I have clicked on almost every option in my properties menu and am at a loss!
Just btw, I'm an intermediate level, self-taught revit user (I have used it on a daily basis for about a year now). I'm no guru, but I'm quite savvy on making things work like I want them to.
I have attached a test render of the space. the "ceiling" should be open above my mezanine, and extend to desk at the right and the lounge seating at the left. However, it has rendered as a single plane.
I'm creating 3D architectural models; primarily interior views. I use the ANIPATH command quite frequently and I'm good there.
However, I have not been able to render a still camera view that shows the lighting and resultant shadows. Whenever I attempt to render a still from a particular camera; I set it to realistic. It shows the 3D objects with materials; however not the lighting.
I've been using ACAD for about 15 years now, and consider my skill level upper-intermediate.
So far, the only successful still renderings I've been able to do are those directly associated with the typical ortho views: i.e., NE, NW, SE, SW, front, back, etc. But no avail on rendering from the camera point of view.
Ive created a dwf with multiple sheets (an electrical set, in this example). I sent it to a client who marked it up in Autodesk Design Review and sent it back to me. I inserted it (insert/dwf markup) and it comes into the revit14 drawing file just fine but all the comments are on the SHEET and not in the view. This is very inconvenined becuase I must open the view, make the change, exit the view, edit the dwf comment and repeat over and over. How does one get/force the person doing the markup to work within the VIEW?
Why Camera Views is different from all other views in Revit. It is simple not possible to add a view reference, or a tag etc. to reference to a camera view.
Of course I can put in a 'dead' symbol to show where it is in plans, but that's simply not the same...
I am modifying topography to include multiple building pads at varying levels and also including sloped pads. I am having a non-consistent problem at the common boundary of some pads. A small sliver of topography sometimes 'sticks through' the common boundary. The height it sticks through seems arbitary, sometimes to the height of the original topography when cutting and sometimes much higher. I have used the copy/paste aligned commands to ensure the boundaries are exactly common but this does not work.
I have read that some users cut the topography globally and then build up the various levels and ramps using floors and the variable floor thickness command. This seems a bit cumbersome and I imagine would cause problems when cutting sections etc.
I have a building file with a site linked in. The site file has the retaining wall etc.
In the building file I have created some camera views and when you adjust the eye height the linked wall is distorted. note the correct alignment in perspective-01 and the distortions in *-02 & *-03.
When I try to open multiple raw photos from cs6 mini bridge, after selecting them, none open up. If I do one it works fine. I also tried the review mode and only one opens.
I can open one JPEG at a time, or multiple Raw images in ACR.
Have checked other sources including Barbara Brundage "The Missing Manual" but whilst it does not specifically say you cannot, likewise there is no indication that you can.
I'm new to Revit and could understand the explanation of how to show a door as open in the 3d view. How I can show my 3d doors as open. Also I am using Revit Building 9.1.
When I open any NEF file from a Nikon D7000 the fluorescent lights appear bright red. As I work with the image and eventually open the image into the normal Photoshop Elements 11 editor, the lights appear proper. Is this a known issue?
I just started aca12 today and i have a substantial query:
i've set up my project and levels. i have -1, 0, +1 levels with certain thickness each. i've noticed that the levels are separate dwg files. and each of them has 0.00 elevation for walls and elements that i put in.
a. now, i'd like to know how to put all the levels together, say, in 1 single display, so that i can make 3d view of the whole building? b. btw the level names can be different from constructs' names, am i right? c. why when i choose ,,copy constructs to levels'' nothing happens on those levels. i don't see any new elements there? instead of them i get 3 copies of the same level, like ground floor (1) ground floor(2) etc.
Question 1: If I create two levels layers and, adjusting the center slider, I enter 1.5 of lightening on one and .5 darkening on the other, and then flatten the image do the two equal and opposite adjustments cancel each other without altering the image?
Question 2: Assuming the answer to Question 1 is yes, there's no alteration to the image -- if I adjust the first to 1.5 and the other to .6 does this create the same effect and using only one layer with an adjustment of 1.10?
I am working with revit since 08, and there was this little annoying bug - in the middle of working process some levels become super slow - adding walls becomes a big task. At the beginning everything works great, but (I suspect) at some point I add curtain inside the room, something goes wrong and the level becomes slow.
It does not work even if I remove curtain walls or purge unused or duplicate window or make separate plan view - if floor area with several basic walls is visible level becomes slow.
Whenever i open up a CR2 file in photshop the screen that pops up is meant to be grey but instead it shows up black with most of the txt showing, i can still use the sliders to fix the picture but it doesnt feel right
I am running LR 4.2 attempting to shoot in tethered mode to my Nikon D300. The laptop is a Lenovo W510 running windows 7 pro x64 with Intel i7 processor with all microsoft and lenovo updates installed.
When I plug in the camera via the USB port and start LR, the tethered mode shows 'No Camera Detected". If I unplug the cable from my laptop and plug it into my Dell Desktop running the same version of windows and the same version of LR, it recognized the camera and will shoot tethered mode just fine. However, the real need is to shoot tethered to my laptop.
I have been through the idiot troubleshoot list on Adobe's website and tried every combination of restarting known to man. I know the camera is in the right USB mode since it works just fine when plugged into my desktop. So, I can eliminate any problem with Nikon, USB cables, LR versions/camera compatibility. The only variable is the Lenovo vs. Dell and possible USB driver issues. Windows does recognize the camera when it is plugged into the laptop, but LR doesn't see it.
Can't open file from Nikon D7100 in Camera RAW Plug-In,i have Photoshop CS5 and plugin is upgraded.Format NEF from Nikon D 7100 is not in this plug-in photoshop.
I am looking for a way to export the structured BOMview from Inventor to either Excel or Word. That’s all good and I can do that but I struggle to find a way to include “All Levels” of the structured BOM view. At the moment I use a “For Each item in BOMview” loop to cycle through the BOMView items.
I have also set the StructuredViewFirstLevelOnly property to False. The For Each loop does not pick up any items inside sub-assemblies.
What would be a nice way to drill down and get an item output like this:
I have a building with 2 levels & I have one stairwell. My 2 levels are in a shell.dwg - (first floor level & second floor level). I have a simple stair & landing, which is an element. I insert that element into the first floor level. Everything is fine there, but when I set up a view drawing with the shell (construct) & stair (element in construct) for the second level the stair is diplayed as if it is going up from the first floor level - I need it to show going down from the second floor level. Is there way to show that with one stair?
What we have done in the past is to not have levels, 1 construct for first floor & another for second floor - creating a stair styles for each floor. But when you do a model you have stairs on top of each other (not really using the software like we should). So my question is how do I have 1 stair for 2 different levels & show it correctly for each level. When I set my cut-plane height for first floor level - looks great, but when I set it second floor level - either it remains the same obviously or when I uncheck the override display config. in other on the display tab in the style the stair disappears. I'm trying a new way of creating models/plans & I can't think on how to create the stairs correctly. What am I missing in order to look correctly in plan view without making 2 stairs.
I'm not sure if this is possible in PS, but I was hoping someone could confirm it one way or the other.
Is it possible to have the screen divided in PS in some way so that you can work in one section fully zoomed in, but in the other section see the 100% zoom?
When i work on small UI elements etc, I often need to work with highly magnified stuff, but I often don't know how it works when viewing it at 100%, so end up zooming in/out all the time to check.
I closed the 'levels' dialog box on the left hand side of the screen (underneath the 'properties' dock and for the life of me cannot figure out how to get it back.
I have inherited some Revit files, all of which have a ground floor and ceiling plan (hence an associated level).
The levels do not show the in elevations (or sections for that matter). It is not a view setting, I have checked this, nor are they hidden by category or element. I have added new levels and these are visible. The levels exist, I just cannot view them or select them.
Do I have to use the Stack Walls family in order to have my walls line up on top of each other between the levels? My walls are all slightly off in 3D view and look messy..
I have created new levels e.g T.O.F. & T.O.G. but they will not show up under the existing Floor Plans section in the Browser. All I get is a new section Titled: ???! How do I get these new levels to show with the rest of my levels under the floor plans category. Using Revit Ultimate 2014.
I need to swap my level 1 and level 2 of my building's floorplans. What is the most efficient way to take the walls etc. from level two and place them on level 1, and take whats on level 1 and place them on level 2? I am swapping the floorplans.
how to create a wall that infills the gable between two levels of the same roof. There is no internal wall below this location - so this would be some sort of lightweight studwork and panelling rather than brick.
