I can open one JPEG at a time, or multiple Raw images in ACR.
Have checked other sources including Barbara Brundage "The Missing Manual" but whilst it does not specifically say you cannot, likewise there is no indication that you can.
I've searched for the Camera Raw setting that is available from the Photoshop (not PSE8) menu but it is not even available in Photoshop Elements 8 that I've been able to see. Where this setting is?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been using Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) with my Canon EOS 30D, an 8 MP camera, for a while now. I would make non-destructive changes to the raw file (.CR2) in ACR where the changes would be stored in an adjoining .xmp file. Jpegs of the unedited and edited camera raw files would be created so I have a before and after versions of the images that can be viewed anywhere.
Now I have a Canon EOS 5D Mark III, a 22 MP camera and the raw files are much larger. I’m looking at using camera raw on jpeg files for some for my more casual photo shoots in order to save disk space. From what I have read, I can use ACR on jpeg files and that the changes would be stored in the metadata in the jpeg file. Is there a way for the changes to be stored in an adjoining .xmp file so that the original jpeg file is not modified, much like it is done with the .CR2 files?
I am using Adobe Photoshop CS5 on a Windows 7 machine. All software is up-to-date.
Also, I have found that Adobe’s camera raw handing is different than the raw handling of the photos using Canon’s software (DPP). Is there a way to make ACR closer to what Canon’s software does?

I really like Adobe Camera Raw. Is there a way to set the default open options to ACR? I'd like to particularly have jpgs and Tiffs open with ACR.
I'm using PSE11 on Windows 7. My ACR version is 7.1.
Why does an image that has been altered by Lightroom cause the RAW Converter to open when trying to view it in Photoshop. Perhaps this might work; if I import, enhance and convert a RAW image in Lightroom to a jepg image it will open in Photoshop without issue. However if I then alter the jpeg image in Lightroom, update the Metadata and try to view it in Photoshop it cause the Photoshop's RAW Converter to open. Is the alter image's information held in a side car file (xmp) that can'r be read by Photoshop? If so would I need to re-export, (convert), the image again in Lightroom to embedd the changes thus making sure it could be read by all the various programs that are available to view images. As is I send photographs to newspapers and print houses it is important for me to know if they would be receiving fully adjusted images or only the adjustments that were made prior to converting from RAW to jpeg. Just in case...I am new to Lightroom.

They all state to go File>Open, then browse to the jpg you wish to open, select Camera Raw from the file type and select the jpg. The problem is when I initially open an image it asks for the color profile. I want it Adobe 1998 RGB, the same as my master TIFF files.
How can I just do this process by the folder for all images within it.?
