View 3 RepliesIn regard to using the three eyedroppers in the levels dialog box. I am crystal clear on how to most accurately find the lightest and darkest areas to click on with the white and black eyedroppers.
Its the middle one that I need help with. I have been told in the past that I should click on the area that SHOULD be gray, rather than what IS gray. Is there a little more of a precise way of arriving at which area to click on rather than just guessing like "Hmm, I think maybe his pants should gray".
Or what about when an image has nothing whatsoever to do with any gray. I know this middle eyedropper may not be critical, but I just gotta think there is a better way to do this rather than guessing. If a photo has just red, blue, yellow, green, pink, orange & gold, what "should be" the grayest? Obviously there is something I don't understand about this tool.
I know the title sounds weird, but I am having trouble keeping my levels from reverting back to their default look when saving as a jpeg or attempting to flatten or merge my layers. I can attach a link to the PDS if you would like to take a look at it. The layer that is losing its levels settings is called "Stars". I don't change my levels often, so I am sure its something I am just missing. The levels are just changes on a single layer, as stated above its the layer called "Stars".

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working with revit since 08, and there was this little annoying bug - in the middle of working process some levels become super slow - adding walls becomes a big task. At the beginning everything works great, but (I suspect) at some point I add curtain inside the room, something goes wrong and the level becomes slow.
It does not work even if I remove curtain walls or purge unused or duplicate window or make separate plan view - if floor area with several basic walls is visible level becomes slow.
I have inherited some Revit files, all of which have a ground floor and ceiling plan (hence an associated level).
The levels do not show the in elevations (or sections for that matter). It is not a view setting, I have checked this, nor are they hidden by category or element. I have added new levels and these are visible. The levels exist, I just cannot view them or select them.
Do I have to use the Stack Walls family in order to have my walls line up on top of each other between the levels? My walls are all slightly off in 3D view and look messy..

I’m wondering why the option “aligned to selected levels” is not active as I copy and paste from one level to another.

Is there a way to list what items are constrained to levels? i need to remove a couple of annoying levels but have a feeling that walls, roofs, families, etc may be constrained to the levels that I need to delete.
I tried doing a multi-category schedule but I think I need to do one for doors, windows, etc. I thought I read somewhere that this feature was available in Revit 2012.
I can't figure out how to get my levels to show fractions of inches. I can add a dimension from level to level and see the fraction, but the level itself insists on rounding to nearest inch. View scale makes no difference.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are developing a multistory housing project that will have 5 unique unit plans. What I would like to know is the best approach to implimenting the unit plans in revit?
In autocad, we would create an xref of the unit, then xref as needed on base plans. Thus the ability to place multiple xrefs of the unit on various levels while maintatining the ability to make one change to the original unit plan and have it update thru out the project....How would we do this in Revit?
How to I change the Comma to a Period in Levels or Dimensions?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn starting a new project, I renamed "Level 1" to "Street Level" and "Level 2" to "Level 1". Next I added two additional levels in the drawing, "Level 2" and "Level 3".
My Project Browser shows only Level 1, Site, and Street. Why do the Levels 2 and 3 not show under and how can I get them to.
Having some very strange issues with area boundaries used in groups.
I have tested it in RAC 2011, 2012 and 2013 and they all seem to be doing similar things.
grouping them and pasting them is fine - even between levels and even schemes. when i edit them items are excluded on sketch close and even disappear from one scheme to only appear in the scheme that i edited them in. the area still remains in both but only boundaries in one scheme.
How to get the brick hatch pattern on my elevations to line up between levels. I have a two story residence with one wall the front that has brick all the up to the roof (the rest of the house has cement board side on the second story). My problem is that the brick pattern on the second floor wall does not line up with the brick pattern on the first floor.
I tried to just extend the first floor wall up to the roof, but I did not like how it wrapped around the corner of the second floor to tie in with the siding. Surely theres is a way to set the hatch patterns origin like in ACA so that all the bricks line up nice and pretty. Also would lining up the brick pattern on the quoins, which are, whatchamacallums... in-place-edit components?
We are looking for a way to document the free height, between two floor slab on two different levels, on our floorplans. We would like to use some sort of tag. And not just text.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI started a new project. I linked a revit file. I copy monitored key levels from the linked file. The color of the level heads is black and this indicates that there are no associated plan views. My question is, what is the best way to create plan views from the copy monitored levels?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm currently Building a Library Technology Hub that has 3 story atrium. I'm trying to create a 3d camera view that shows the multiple levels that open to the atrium. However, only the 1st floor and mezanine floor (within 1st floor ceiling heights) are in my 3d view. The rendred view shows as if I have a solid ceiling across the entire 1st floor. I am almost positive that this is an issue with my camera settings since my 2nd and 3rd floors are cut around the atrium opening. I have clicked on almost every option in my properties menu and am at a loss!
Just btw, I'm an intermediate level, self-taught revit user (I have used it on a daily basis for about a year now). I'm no guru, but I'm quite savvy on making things work like I want them to.
I have attached a test render of the space. the "ceiling" should be open above my mezanine, and extend to desk at the right and the lounge seating at the left. However, it has rendered as a single plane.
In Revit 2013 I attempt to load an item from the Family but I find that the “Load Family” dialog box does not appear. how to get it to cooperate? Even starting a new project the load family dialog box does not appear. I have done: 1) system restore, 2 ) repaired install, 3 ) re-installed, 4) uninstalled and reinstalled from scratch but still the problems persists on this machine. all other office PC’s with Revit 2013 behave.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently, My revit does not load families. The process I use is the following:
In the Build area of the home ribbon, I select the Component button. I going to the Place component ribbon. When I select Load Family form the Mode portion of the ribbon, the properties box pops up. It is locked at this point and I cannot do anything but hit escape. The program functions just fine in all other aspects. I have used a vanilla project to see if the project I am working on is corrupted and I get the same results.
Opened the Elevation Tags dialog (manage Additional settings) duplicate the 1/2" Square type call it External Elevation Tag. did the same to 1/2" Circle call it Internal Elevation Tag.

Is there any way to turn on a command dialog box for Revit architecture 2012?Whenever I try to perform any knd of command from the "ribbon bar", I don't know the status of the command until I ht cancel and see what the command may or may not have done.
I noticed that, whenever I enter a command (such as "place a component"), I have to hit "cancel" TWICE to get out of it. Seems strange; I would expect to see an "end" command, instead of "cancel" (which implies exiting without doing anything). Or maybe I'm just going nuts trying to learn Revit.
I am modifying topography to include multiple building pads at varying levels and also including sloped pads. I am having a non-consistent problem at the common boundary of some pads. A small sliver of topography sometimes 'sticks through' the common boundary. The height it sticks through seems arbitary, sometimes to the height of the original topography when cutting and sometimes much higher. I have used the copy/paste aligned commands to ensure the boundaries are exactly common but this does not work.
I have read that some users cut the topography globally and then build up the various levels and ramps using floors and the variable floor thickness command. This seems a bit cumbersome and I imagine would cause problems when cutting sections etc.
Why does Revit not allow the copy and pasting of text from, for example, the Formula box in a Family Types Dialog? There are other instances when this also manifests itself but I'm struggling with formulas currently and need to get on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever we sync or save our Revit files a dialog appears in the center of the drawing window. The dialog is titles Family and shows the Type selector pulldown.
It won't dock, and if you move it it moves back. This is occurring on all versions of Revit 2012, 2013, 2014. I have seem other users as well with the same issue.
