I can't figure out how to get my levels to show fractions of inches. I can add a dimension from level to level and see the fraction, but the level itself insists on rounding to nearest inch. View scale makes no difference.
I have created new levels e.g T.O.F. & T.O.G. but they will not show up under the existing Floor Plans section in the Browser. All I get is a new section Titled: ???! How do I get these new levels to show with the rest of my levels under the floor plans category. Using Revit Ultimate 2014.
when i type a fraction in a label the fraction is alwas stacked i have to unstack the fraction but when i unstake the fraction the fraction show up like this 1 1#2. any thoughts about how to fix this? this only happens on one computer when a different user use that same drawing the fraction always show up unstaked 1 1/2.
Determine the roof pitch, then it has the typical triangle with 1/2 pitch and 1/4, 1/3, 1/6 and so on. I know rise over run like 5/12, but don't understand the fractions. How do I get 4/12 or 5/12 and so on from the fractions?
Is there a way I can see the pixel (not inches) dimensions in the document status bar without having to alt click it, and also see pixels in the info pallete.
How do I set it so that when I type fractions in a text box it automatically keeps them as non-stacked fractions rather than horizontally or diagonally stacked?
I'd like to show feet/inches with arch units even when i have a whole number measurement. right now the dim for 16' shows as 16' only. i want it to show as 16'-0"
I enlarged a photochrom image (which gimp converted to rgb) to twice its original size, but when I wanted to see its dimensions in inches the image scale showed 6.667 x 4.887, which is half the original size. This can’t be possible, the enlarged image is quite big. I set the resolution at 300, if that makes a difference…
is there a way to turn off different levels of shading in the subassemblies that show up? when i orbit my road, i cant clearly see what is going on, and would like to turn off some shading. see image, i want to turn off where the arrows are pointing.
When drawing using imperial units in Revit, it of course interprets values you input as feet until you press " to let it know you mean inches. As I am constantly going between Revit and AutoCAD, which does the opposite, I keep missing the " out of habit and wasting time repeating everything. My question is, is there a way to change the input from feet to inches so I can move more seamlessly between the two programs?
I found out that there is a way to show clipping areas in Photoshop when adjusting levels via an adjustment layer. While moving the slider, you hold down the ALT key.
I tried this in PSP X3 and it does not work. Any feature for seeing the clipping preview is available in Paint Shop Pro? It's a nice feature.
I am working with revit since 08, and there was this little annoying bug - in the middle of working process some levels become super slow - adding walls becomes a big task. At the beginning everything works great, but (I suspect) at some point I add curtain inside the room, something goes wrong and the level becomes slow.
It does not work even if I remove curtain walls or purge unused or duplicate window or make separate plan view - if floor area with several basic walls is visible level becomes slow.
I placed I-Joist on the floor plan and used the wrong spacing. Can I select the already placed joist and change the spacing from 12 inch OC to 16 inches OC? I know I can select the ones I want to change, but I do not see in the properties window where I can change the spacing. Unless I am overlooking it.
I closed the 'levels' dialog box on the left hand side of the screen (underneath the 'properties' dock and for the life of me cannot figure out how to get it back.
I have inherited some Revit files, all of which have a ground floor and ceiling plan (hence an associated level).
The levels do not show the in elevations (or sections for that matter). It is not a view setting, I have checked this, nor are they hidden by category or element. I have added new levels and these are visible. The levels exist, I just cannot view them or select them.
Do I have to use the Stack Walls family in order to have my walls line up on top of each other between the levels? My walls are all slightly off in 3D view and look messy..
when I am trying to synchronizing to central I get a message twice saying "inches to the fourth power." then another message saying "file not saved."so then I find myself having to exit revit and start over with a new local file.
I did notice that when one person had a view or sheet open that I needed to work on that is when the error came up the most. so when the three of us would complete a task we would have to synchronize right after that task e.g. if I had several lights to place on the RCP I would place one light and synchronize and then place another light and synchronize. If I tried to do too much or waited too long to synchronize the error would come up.
I need to swap my level 1 and level 2 of my building's floorplans. What is the most efficient way to take the walls etc. from level two and place them on level 1, and take whats on level 1 and place them on level 2? I am swapping the floorplans.
how to create a wall that infills the gable between two levels of the same roof. There is no internal wall below this location - so this would be some sort of lightweight studwork and panelling rather than brick.
Is there a way to list what items are constrained to levels? i need to remove a couple of annoying levels but have a feeling that walls, roofs, families, etc may be constrained to the levels that I need to delete.
I tried doing a multi-category schedule but I think I need to do one for doors, windows, etc. I thought I read somewhere that this feature was available in Revit 2012.
Why new rooms show up in lieu of existing rooms when"show previous and demo" are set for the phase filter? Every single other existing element including doors, walls, windows, etc. show in the "show previous and demo" phase filter with the exception of rooms.
Out of nowhere my AutoCAD commands such as line, offset, circle, etc will only work if i type in the amount in inches. I use feet / inches when i use these commands. It says specify second point... Not sure what this means. For example I want to offset a line 15'-8". It won't let me do that. If i offset a line at 146" it lets me do it.
We are developing a multistory housing project that will have 5 unique unit plans. What I would like to know is the best approach to implimenting the unit plans in revit?
In autocad, we would create an xref of the unit, then xref as needed on base plans. Thus the ability to place multiple xrefs of the unit on various levels while maintatining the ability to make one change to the original unit plan and have it update thru out the project....How would we do this in Revit?
In starting a new project, I renamed "Level 1" to "Street Level" and "Level 2" to "Level 1". Next I added two additional levels in the drawing, "Level 2" and "Level 3".
My Project Browser shows only Level 1, Site, and Street. Why do the Levels 2 and 3 not show under and how can I get them to.
Having some very strange issues with area boundaries used in groups.
I have tested it in RAC 2011, 2012 and 2013 and they all seem to be doing similar things.
grouping them and pasting them is fine - even between levels and even schemes. when i edit them items are excluded on sketch close and even disappear from one scheme to only appear in the scheme that i edited them in. the area still remains in both but only boundaries in one scheme.
How to get the brick hatch pattern on my elevations to line up between levels. I have a two story residence with one wall the front that has brick all the up to the roof (the rest of the house has cement board side on the second story). My problem is that the brick pattern on the second floor wall does not line up with the brick pattern on the first floor.
I tried to just extend the first floor wall up to the roof, but I did not like how it wrapped around the corner of the second floor to tie in with the siding. Surely theres is a way to set the hatch patterns origin like in ACA so that all the bricks line up nice and pretty. Also would lining up the brick pattern on the quoins, which are, whatchamacallums... in-place-edit components?
We are looking for a way to document the free height, between two floor slab on two different levels, on our floorplans. We would like to use some sort of tag. And not just text.
I started a new project. I linked a revit file. I copy monitored key levels from the linked file. The color of the level heads is black and this indicates that there are no associated plan views. My question is, what is the best way to create plan views from the copy monitored levels?
