Lightroom :: Tethering To Lenovo Laptop Shows No Camera Detected?
Sep 29, 2012
I am running LR 4.2 attempting to shoot in tethered mode to my Nikon D300. The laptop is a Lenovo W510 running windows 7 pro x64 with Intel i7 processor with all microsoft and lenovo updates installed.
When I plug in the camera via the USB port and start LR, the tethered mode shows 'No Camera Detected". If I unplug the cable from my laptop and plug it into my Dell Desktop running the same version of windows and the same version of LR, it recognized the camera and will shoot tethered mode just fine. However, the real need is to shoot tethered to my laptop.
I have been through the idiot troubleshoot list on Adobe's website and tried every combination of restarting known to man. I know the camera is in the right USB mode since it works just fine when plugged into my desktop. So, I can eliminate any problem with Nikon, USB cables, LR versions/camera compatibility. The only variable is the Lenovo vs. Dell and possible USB driver issues. Windows does recognize the camera when it is plugged into the laptop, but LR doesn't see it.

This is incredibly frustrating to have a $2,000+ camera that cannot connect to Lightroom. It really impacts the value of both Lightroom and my camera if they don't talk to each other.

Lightroom 5.3 on my new HP laptop with Windows 8. LR shows no camera detected. My Nikon D7000 operates in PTP USB mode only. Windows 8 is detecting it as a MTP USB device. How do I get Windows 8 to load the PTP driver when I connect my D7000 so I can shoot tethered in LR?

I am trying to tether the camera to Lightroom3 to no avail. I am operating under windows 64 bit edition and using the Nikon D90 with a usb cord. The lightroom version I am using is 3.6. I have downloaded other programs and shot tethering fine but they don't have the features Lightroom has to offer so they fall short. Windows also detects the camera itself but lightroom does not. The Nikon plugin is also on.

Setup:
Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bits
Lightroom 3.3(just updated to the latest version)
Nikon D700 / D3s (supported according to this)
Problem:
When I connect any of my cameras (D700 / D3s) to my computer and fire up LightRoom and try to do a Tethered shooting, I get a "No Camera Detected" on the tethered shooting bar.
Notes:
- The cable works and the Windows driver works as my cameras are detected by Windows, show up in the devices list and I can browse the CF card content from the computer, so it is not a cable problem. It might be a driver issue with lightroom...
- USB Mode: the D700 and D3 series only have PTP mode, no USB Mass storage (MSC Mode), so suggestions to turn on USB Mass Storage mode are just not going to work.
- Both the D700 and D3 are listed as compatible cameras for tethered shooting in Adobe release notes

I can't finda list of cameras that are supported in LR5. There is a list for LR4but not LR5. In particular I have three cameras that all work withtethering but I don't have any working software to use thisfacility.
Canon G10
Leica DIgilux 2
Both these cameras came with tethering software that was subsequently dissabled in software updates (Not firmware updates)
I also have the EOS-M and for reasons I don'y understand Canon won't let EOS utility operate the camera even though this functionality exists within the camera because CaptureOnesupports EOS-tethering.

I have a shoot next week that I want to use tethering from my Nikon to LR. Is there a way to get one of the camera profiles and the lens profile to be automatically assigned as I shoot and LR imports?
This will get me close enough for the client to preview.

I have tried everything to tether my original Canon 5D not the mark series. I love the camera and want to dedicate it to a project. I have to tether so I can see on screen, rename files etc. I connect it and 2 times it recognized the Canon5D, could shoot though. Ive tried everything trashing the preffs, etc. I am on Mac using 10.7.5. Ive even tried to use the Canon Utility to connect, the same problem. Ive seen some posts saying LR4.4 doesnt support the Canon5D anymore.
I would rather put the camera to use rather then buy another to dedicate to this ongoing shoot.

I'm having trouble tethering my Nikon D800 to Lightroom 4.4.
Attempts at tethering mostly produce "No Camera Detected" after File > Tethered Capture in Lightroom. There have been some occasions however when the camera was detected and tethering functioned for a short while.
These successful occasions happened using the same approach and equipment.I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit Version 6.1 (with i7) and both camera and Lightroom have been updated.

Seem to be lots of talk about tethering the D7000 but no one actually says it's working for them. Here is a short run down of what I have done to solve the issue.
Ensured Lightroon is up to date.Ensured my camera has the most current firmwareReset the Lightrooms "preferences" file.Tried different USB portsChecked that the D7000 is on the Adobe list for cameras that can be tethered in LRUSB cable is under a meter long and no USB hub is being used.No other software is running in the background that might control the camera
The camera can be tethered with Nikon's Camera Control Pro 2 with no issues. I am using Windows XP home as an OS. The computer has a AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core processor running at 2.0 GHZ with 3 GB of RAM. Pretty sure we are ok here.
I would really like to use this feature in Lightroom.

I plugged canon 1D mark IV with LR 4.3 for tether shooting. it works great. However, I realized that there is no image save on my CF card. All images were transferred to the computer via tethering. I really want to keep a copy of the card for logistics reason. I couldn't find any setting on LR preference regarding this.

I am on LR 4.4 using Nikon D800E.I had been using LR tethered with some intermittent locking issues since LR 3 with my Nikon D300.About 4 months ago, I purchased a Nikon D800E and started to use it tethered (as I had done with the D300) with LR 4.
It would lock up consistently and I would have to reboot the computer to regain functionality. This would happen so many times during a shoot, that tethering just became unusable.
After much testing, It turns out that the problem occurs when the camera's buffer reaches zero. LR consistently is unable to recover from this zero condition. Periodically it will allow one more shot after a bit (as if it tried to recover), but the shot in LR has an esclamation mark by it as damaged data. And at that point it will never recover without a complete computer reboot.
I'm shooting with a team in studio - I can't have LR be this flakey - It is not acceptable to not be able to reach a zero buffer condition while shooting (I'm using Profoto and it can recycle faster than the camera can send to LR). It is not usable in its current state tethered with a Nikon D800. Just not usable.
I had to switch to using Nikon's Camera Control 2 (which functions perfectly and never has trouble recovering from a zero buffer condition), until Adobe can fix this significant bug.
Come on Adobe - Fix your software so it functions.I also noticed that conveniently Adobe removed the functionality of their report a bug link.

I'm trying to get working tethering mode in LR4 with my Canon 7D and I have "No Camera Detected" in control panel of tethering capture and BUSY indicator is ON on my camera. It works just fine using EOS Utility: I can do shots, change camera settings and so on but I really want this feature inside of LR because of variety of features of LR.
System info from LR is:
Lightroom version: 4.3 [865747]
Operating system: (Build 9200)
Version: 6.2 [9200]
Application architecture: x64
System architecture: x64

I'm currently Building a Library Technology Hub that has 3 story atrium. I'm trying to create a 3d camera view that shows the multiple levels that open to the atrium. However, only the 1st floor and mezanine floor (within 1st floor ceiling heights) are in my 3d view. The rendred view shows as if I have a solid ceiling across the entire 1st floor. I am almost positive that this is an issue with my camera settings since my 2nd and 3rd floors are cut around the atrium opening. I have clicked on almost every option in my properties menu and am at a loss!
Just btw, I'm an intermediate level, self-taught revit user (I have used it on a daily basis for about a year now). I'm no guru, but I'm quite savvy on making things work like I want them to.
I have attached a test render of the space. the "ceiling" should be open above my mezanine, and extend to desk at the right and the lounge seating at the left. However, it has rendered as a single plane.
