View 3 RepliesI am facing the following problem:
I’ve got a 3D model with some blocks inserted. These blocks won’t show up in 2D or 3D sections or elevations.
When I leave only the blocks on and freeze the rest of the drawing, no section is created at all (“There are no solids or surfaces that can be projected”).
None of the geometry is on the Defpoint layer. The objects are printed and DO show up in the live section preview.
I want to create sections and plans showing interior finishes. As walls are all of the same structure I used the split face tool. When applying 'paint' to the face it only gives me the options of materials not fill patterns i.e. hatches. How do I get it to apply hatches or is there a visibility setting that i need to change.

It asking if I want load it. Well! The next step has 20 something options but nothing to do with Windows or Doors. How to get out of this Nightmare?

2nd question. is there a way to control how many steps the surfaces are tessellated? The outline is not very smooth!

I'm trying to set up a height label for sections and elevations. I then want to update it with a shortcut.
I already tried it with a field that shows me the y coordinates, but it won't show me the "+-"0.00 sign, when I put it to zero level. It only writes "0.00".
How do i get templates which I have created, to show on the sections, when the sample lines were not drawn perpendicular to the alignment.
I am getting the template to show only at those sections which are perpendicular to the alignment.
I have everything needed for plotting of cross sections. Alignment, profile, assembly.
The "Corridor Section Editor" shows everything as it should be. Existing Ground, Final Grade, Labeling, etc. When "Create Multiple Views" or "Create Section View" only existing Ground shows. All layers are on.
I have a corridor with two baselines, one on the south side of the road, and one on the north side. The south baseline appears correctly in the section view. It is an asphalt bike trail with a ditch to the left side. The north baseline was not appearing at all. The assembly was just a ditch with nothing else. I changed the north baseline to use the same assembly as the south to troubleshoot. The pavement comes in, but the ditch still does not appear.
I can see the ditch feature lines on my corridor (see attached), but they are not appearing in the section view.
i am designing a footpath. I have got my corridor and assemblies all right. but when i plot the cross section, the pavement thickness and hatch pattern is not showing.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIt is almost seeming like you should not try to creat these views in templates to get a jump start on projects. but for the life of me I am not understanding how you can get level lines to appear elevations that have already been create. or in new ones?is there away to successfully get these back?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSeveral buildings are linked and share coordinates. How can the host file be used as the datum base Finish Floor 0 and all the other buildings relate, even though at different elevations of floor levels? Right now the sections show FF 0 for all of them and they are at different heights.

Is there any way to selectively hide an edge in an elevation?
AutoCAD 2010
AutoCAD LT 2013
Revit Architecture LT 2013
When I open a number of templates, I will see a Basement Plan, however when I go the the Elevations I do not see a Basement Level. How do I add the Basement Level to the Elevations ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been away from Revit for awhile. Isn't there an easier way to edit lines in elevations without creating dozens of masking regions to hide model lines from walls, roofs etc.?I thought in older versions, (I'm currently on 2012), that you could just select lines to make them invisible.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to generate counter elevations from my Revit Model. I am designing a coffee bar area and have developed a Revit family for a "U" shaped counter. In trying to set up my elevation, I notice my elevation views of the inside right or indise left of the "U" shaped counter are blocked by the opposite leg of the counter.
Also, I am trying to generate an elevation of my rear support counter and it seems to be blocked by the bottom of the "U" shaped counter. I have attached a sketch of the plan view of where I have set up my elevation views.
How do I edit the points in the toposurface programatically? Like the elevations all increase 2 times the original one.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a topography model that I've been working with for a while now, and all of a sudden the spot elevation stopped working. I have one spot elevation that works, that i can move around and it'll change to the right plus height. But as soon as i try to make a new one it just says -0.05 no matter where i put it except for if i hover over a stair, then it displays the correct plus height.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to make spot elevations not be sticky?
When I am annotating spot elevations in a site plan on a steep slope with retaining walls, the spot elevations keep snapping to points that I don't want them to. When I get close to a point I want to annotate, the spot will jump to another point that is close, such as the bottom of a retaining wall, and I want to annotate the grade at the top of wall.
Snap Off doesn't work.
Is there a setting buried in Revit that can be changed to control this? My guess it that it's built in and can't be changed...
Background: infrequent user who is in AutoCAD withdrawal but forcing himself to move to Revit.
I've just started a new project. I've imported a survey done in AutoCAD and converted it to a Topo surface.
The surface appears in two of the Elevations (East and North), but not the other two. I have two empty views. I've turned off Crop View. When I did this and a Z A, I was able to find the East and North elevations and move the views over to them. However, I can't find the elevations in the other views.
I downloaded a pocket door from Revitcity.com and noticed that whoever created this family had one of the "controls" that flips the family on the elevations. When I am in elevation view my controls are grayed out. Just wondering how to place a flip symbol on the elevations?! I would love to be able to switch the swing of a window or door on the elevations!!
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to show my detail views in my elevations?
In autocad we use a little line with the detail number, but I can't find anything like that in revit. I've attached an example.
I have adjusted my North Elevation (using View Graphics) exactly the way I’d like it to look in elevation, and would now like to apply those same visibility adjustments to my other elevations. Is there a way I can save that view as a template and apply to other elevations, or do I instead need to create a view template, make all the adjustments to that template, then apply the template to the elevations?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had a few exterior elevations (actual design elevations not 3d) of a building that looked great and had nice shadows and materials and everything was wonderful until today when I turned off a couple section marks and a level mark and then the back turned black and the dialog box in Graphic Display Options does not show the background section anymore? Now I can't even get rid of the black background!!
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow to get the brick hatch pattern on my elevations to line up between levels. I have a two story residence with one wall the front that has brick all the up to the roof (the rest of the house has cement board side on the second story). My problem is that the brick pattern on the second floor wall does not line up with the brick pattern on the first floor.
I tried to just extend the first floor wall up to the roof, but I did not like how it wrapped around the corner of the second floor to tie in with the siding. Surely theres is a way to set the hatch patterns origin like in ACA so that all the bricks line up nice and pretty. Also would lining up the brick pattern on the quoins, which are, whatchamacallums... in-place-edit components?
I have a small problem, trying to print from R 2013 some pdf's of a long section of a building...aprox 30 m.With a scale of 1 to 20 ,,,the pdf just looks bad and unclear when you get to zoom a little bit in it.What am I doing wrong, although I use settings like highg quality pdf and so on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe just upgraded a project from 2012 to 2013. After upgrading, there are two floors which do not show up as cut in any sections (they displayed correctly in 2012). The two floors in question appear in the section, but not as cut elements (no cut pattern) and it is showing edges of the floor that should be well behind where the section is cut. One floor is 8" concrete and has been made to slope using the modify sub elements command. The other floor is a variable thickness floor modified in the same way to be the earth below the concrete floor since the topo is not nimble enough to follow the shape of the concrete floor.
I tried remodelling the floors. No luck.
I can model it in a separate file, cut sections in that file and have it display correctly. If I insert or paste that into the main model, it goes back to displaying incorrectly.
Our structural engineer had copied the lake floor into their model which is linked into ours, so I deleted the lake floors in the structural model, reloaded it and then remodeled the floors again. And it worked... in only one of the dozens of sections that show the lake floors! So that's one more than before...
In one of the attached images you can see the sloping lake floor and the earth floor below it as it should appear and in the other image you see them both in elevation rather than section. The 3d image shows the lake floor and the surrounding "earth floors". The center of the lake floor is 7'-0" below the outermost perimeter of the floor.
