Revit :: Make Spot Elevations Not Be Sticky?

Jul 12, 2013

Is there a way to make spot elevations not be sticky?

When I am annotating spot elevations in a site plan on a steep slope with retaining walls, the spot elevations keep snapping to points that I don't want them to. When I get close to a point I want to annotate, the spot will jump to another point that is close, such as the bottom of a retaining wall, and I want to annotate the grade at the top of wall.

Snap Off doesn't work.

Is there a setting buried in Revit that can be changed to control this? My guess it that it's built in and can't be changed...

Revit :: Spot Elevations Stopped Working?

Mar 5, 2013

I have a topography model that I've been working with for a while now, and all of a sudden the spot elevation stopped working. I have one spot elevation that works, that i can move around and it'll change to the right plus height. But as soon as i try to make a new one it just says -0.05 no matter where i put it except for if i hover over a stair, then it displays the correct plus height.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Make Sure Annotated Surface Labels Spot Elevations From 3D Design Drawing

Dec 19, 2013

How can I make sure the annotated surface labels spot elevations from my 3d design drawing which is being xrefed into a new Precise Grading Breakout Sheet plots screened?

The Label Style which I created for the annotated surface label spot elevations has all its properties set to be ByLayer for example its color and lineweight.  The Layer I assigned the Label Style was assigned to a layer with a color and plot style that should plot any object screened.  Color 8 and Plot Style Screened.

What other steps am I missing to assure myself that this Label Style will plot screened in my new Precise Grading Breakout Sheet?

I also made sure that the xref drawing in which this Surface spot elevation has the correct colors and lineweights and Plot Styles in my new Precise Grading Breakout Sheet.

Photoshop :: How To Make CS6 Panels Sticky

Jun 5, 2012

In the previous versions of Photoshop I've used (CS3, CS5), when I opened multiple panels (e.g. History, Info, etc) they would all stay open for reference.  However with CS6 I've noticed that if I have, say, the History panel open, and also open, say, Info, then the History panel closes.

How can I change this behavior such that each panel I open will stay open and visible until I direct it otherwise?  It's frustrating to have to keep using Window->History (or whatever) each time I need to see one or the other.

Photoshop :: How To Make Lab Sliders Sticky In CS4

Nov 17, 2011

Tech- MacMini 2011, Lion, CS4

I edit color in LAB mode. In CS3 I would use the eyedropper tool to select a neutral point and then a levels layer to adjust the color while I was watching the LAB sliders in the color panel. Quick and easy.

Now the problem. In CS4 the color panel changes to greyscale when the levels layer is highlighted. How do I make the LAB sliders sticky? If I edit the color with simply a levels adjustment (not layer) it still works the old way I am used to. I toggled the dynamic slider preference to no avail and I can't find anything else I can change.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Spot Elevations Disappear When Saving Down From 2013 To 2007

Oct 19, 2012

I just completed my first topo using Civil3D 2013 (yay!) and now I want to send it to a client. However, when I save it as an ACAD 2007 file and go to open it using ACAD 2007 the spot elevations and all text and symbols associated with them disappear. I can't imagine that you have to have Civil3D to view a Civil3D file. Is there something I can do here?

I did not create a survey database with these points, just imported the .txt file from the field.

AutoCad :: Annotative Block With Dynamic Properties - Add Spot Elevations To Drawing

Jan 8, 2014

I created the attached block to add spot elevations to a drawing. The block has attributes allowing elevations to be manually typed in, but also includes many dynamic features for rotation, lengthening, mirroring, etc. The block was created as an annotative block.

The block and all of its features work perfect as long as the dynamic features (rotation, etc) are not used after additional annotative scales are added. I often times have a drawing set at 1:10 or 1:20 scale and need to do an enlarged detail at 1:5.

What I would like to do is have this block set at 1:10 scale and 1:5 scale and manually rotate it (ideally using the dynamic features) at different angles for each scale. Is this possible and if so, why is it not working with this block? This works flawlessly when using annotative multileaders, so why shouldn't it work with blocks or is this just too labor intensive for the software?

I have also tried attsync, etc. and often times when rotating at different annotative scales, the text attributes go "bonkers" for the opposing scale when applying attsync.

I've been away from Revit for awhile. Isn't there an easier way to edit lines in elevations without creating dozens of masking regions to hide model lines from walls, roofs etc.?I thought in older versions, (I'm currently on 2012), that you could just select lines to make them invisible.

Revit :: How To Get Brick Hatch Pattern On Elevations To Line Up Between Levels

Dec 5, 2013

How to get the brick hatch pattern on my elevations to line up between levels.  I have a two story residence with one wall the front that has brick all the up to the roof (the rest of the house has cement board side on the second story).  My problem is that the brick pattern on the second floor wall does not line up with the brick pattern on the first floor.

I tried to just extend the first floor wall up to the roof, but I did not like how it wrapped around the corner of the second floor to tie in with the siding.  Surely theres is a way to set the hatch patterns origin like in ACA so that all the bricks line up nice and pretty.  Also would lining up the brick pattern on the quoins, which are, whatchamacallums... in-place-edit components?

Revit :: How To Create Room Elevations To Show Furniture / Equipment Layouts

Jul 12, 2012

I have a large building project with multiple linked files (building split into blocks plus furniture etc models) with shared co-ordinates. All are working fine except one which happens to be a furniture and equipment model. When sections and/or elevations are placed in either the host or the linked file the views do not corrospond with the cut line of the section or view line of the elevation, for example if I place an elevation within a room the elevation looks as if it has been placed in a different position some metres away. When the files are linked within each other using the shared co-ordinates they place themselves in plan and elevation perfectly. I am trying to create room elevations to show furniture/equipment layouts and this is making it impossible!

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Make 2D Plines Take On Elevations Of Points At Their Vertices?

May 9, 2012

I know there are different ways to do this.  Would like to know multiple options so I can see which might be quickest for me.

I have points with elevations and 2D plines at elevation zero drawn between them.

I would like 3D plines instead.  This is the easiest way for me to transfer them to another drawing where I will make surfaces with them.  I don't want to have to transfer the points over.

I can redraw the plines as 3D plines but this is time consuming and seems unecessary.

I don't want to have to convert them to Feature Lines either.  I prefer they be 3D polylines.

Is there a simple command for this?  I already have a surface containing the points and lines as surface breaklines.

Is there a project objects to surface command that will make these 2D plines at elev 0 into 3D plines while assigning elevations (and vertices) only at the current vertices?

What about a simple series of commands to convert the 2D plines to 3D plines, then force the 3D pline to take on the elevations of the points at its vertices?  (I think this would be my preference, but don't know any of these commands or where to find them.)

Revit :: Spot Elevation Text Wrong In Rotated Dependent Views

Sep 27, 2012

I have just discovered that Spot Elevation text is mesbehaving in rotated dependent views:

If you have an orthogonal parent plan view, then create a dependant view from it, then rotate just that dependant view, then place a spot elevation - the spot elevation symbol respects the rotation of the view (ie its paralel to screen/view boundary), but the spot elevation text remains in the orientation of the parent view.  see attached image.

This does not happen if you rotate a normal Revit plan view; nor does it happen with a callout - both cases the symbol and the text are parallel to the view boundary.  I think this is a bug?
