Revit :: Editing Lines In Elevations?
Mar 8, 2012I've been away from Revit for awhile. Isn't there an easier way to edit lines in elevations without creating dozens of masking regions to hide model lines from walls, roofs etc.?I thought in older versions, (I'm currently on 2012), that you could just select lines to make them invisible.

I have a dwg attached and it contains several closed polylines. when i am in subregion menu i use the pick line tool pressing the tab to pick all the loop. I can pick some loops but not all. I cant see any difference between the closed polylines. why i cant pick all the loops? Is there another way to pick a lot of segments at one. Manually is very difficult . All the polys have a lot of segments

Jan 28, 2014I'm having trouble getting the visibility of walls within toposurfaces to display correctly. Please see the two attached images, showing a wall extending into a sloped grade. I have a plan view which in some areas shows the wall above grade, and in other areas shows the wall below grade. The red line through image 2 shows the approximate cut line of the plan view shown on image 1. The problem is that the toposurface pattern extends through the interior of the solid wall, in areas where the wall is buried below grade. The plan view display is set to Hidden Line, not Wireframe, and the wall is not set to display as transparent. I want the wall's geometry to cut out the toposurface - you'd see the concrete hatch on the wall, but not the fill pattern of the topography.

Aug 13, 2013Several buildings are linked and share coordinates. How can the host file be used as the datum base Finish Floor 0 and all the other buildings relate, even though at different elevations of floor levels? Right now the sections show FF 0 for all of them and they are at different heights.

Feb 10, 2014I am trying to generate counter elevations from my Revit Model. I am designing a coffee bar area and have developed a Revit family for a "U" shaped counter. In trying to set up my elevation, I notice my elevation views of the inside right or indise left of the "U" shaped counter are blocked by the opposite leg of the counter.
Also, I am trying to generate an elevation of my rear support counter and it seems to be blocked by the bottom of the "U" shaped counter. I have attached a sketch of the plan view of where I have set up my elevation views.

Mar 5, 2013I have a topography model that I've been working with for a while now, and all of a sudden the spot elevation stopped working. I have one spot elevation that works, that i can move around and it'll change to the right plus height. But as soon as i try to make a new one it just says -0.05 no matter where i put it except for if i hover over a stair, then it displays the correct plus height.

When I am annotating spot elevations in a site plan on a steep slope with retaining walls, the spot elevations keep snapping to points that I don't want them to. When I get close to a point I want to annotate, the spot will jump to another point that is close, such as the bottom of a retaining wall, and I want to annotate the grade at the top of wall.
Snap Off doesn't work.
Is there a setting buried in Revit that can be changed to control this? My guess it that it's built in and can't be changed...
Revit :: Imported Site Not Appearing In Elevations?
Oct 21, 2013Background: infrequent user who is in AutoCAD withdrawal but forcing himself to move to Revit.
I've just started a new project. I've imported a survey done in AutoCAD and converted it to a Topo surface.
The surface appears in two of the Elevations (East and North), but not the other two. I have two empty views. I've turned off Crop View. When I did this and a Z A, I was able to find the East and North elevations and move the views over to them. However, I can't find the elevations in the other views.

When I am in elevation view my controls are grayed out. Just wondering how to place a flip symbol on the elevations?! Dec 5, 2013How to get the brick hatch pattern on my elevations to line up between levels. I have a two story residence with one wall the front that has brick all the up to the roof (the rest of the house has cement board side on the second story). My problem is that the brick pattern on the second floor wall does not line up with the brick pattern on the first floor.
I tried to just extend the first floor wall up to the roof, but I did not like how it wrapped around the corner of the second floor to tie in with the siding. Surely theres is a way to set the hatch patterns origin like in ACA so that all the bricks line up nice and pretty. Also would lining up the brick pattern on the quoins, which are, whatchamacallums... in-place-edit components?

Jul 12, 2012I have a large building project with multiple linked files (building split into blocks plus furniture etc models) with shared co-ordinates. All are working fine except one which happens to be a furniture and equipment model. When sections and/or elevations are placed in either the host or the linked file the views do not corrospond with the cut line of the section or view line of the elevation, for example if I place an elevation within a room the elevation looks as if it has been placed in a different position some metres away. When the files are linked within each other using the shared co-ordinates they place themselves in plan and elevation perfectly. I am trying to create room elevations to show furniture/equipment layouts and this is making it impossible!

Feb 14, 2013I have a relatively simple mass modeled in Rhino that I imported to a Revit Mass Family (via .sat file). I then placed walls, roofs, structure on the face of this mass. However I would like to be able adjust this mass, either in Rhino or Revit and the walls and structure adjust accordingly. Now however, if I reload the mass into my Revit family, and then reload the family to my model, and then attempt to Update to Face, the error "Faces defining this Element cannot be reacquired." and my only option is to delete the offending wall/roof etc.
Is this just a limitation in Revit/Rhino, or am I totally doing it wrong?

I've tried to cut geometry, and edit the family (rim) itself, but I need to edit it in an elevation view and not floor plan.

For example, with AutoCAD you can enter the size of the arcs that you want to use when you use the revision cloud command. Is there anything similar in Revit?
I have done some searching and am surprised at how little mention there is about both the strange look of the clouds produced by the Revit tool and their lack of flexibility. Everyone focuses mainly on being able to associate clouds with deltas and a Revision Schedule, which I admit is important also.
Revit :: Editing Cells Within A Door Schedule
Apr 19, 2013So I've created a door schedule and added all the parameters I needed. But to get the "room name" to list and be associated with the door tags I had to choose either if the doors were going to a room or from a room, so I chose to, however, some of the doors swing are leaving the room so instead of tagging them with the corridor we want them associated with the room. But I can't edit the column the room names are in. If I click on a cell it gives me a drop menu on the side of what I can choose for that cell and it doesn't have the listed room that I need. It does not let me just type in the cell is there a way to fix this?! The blue highlighted name shows my option of what I can list as the room name or I can leave it blank, it lets me click inside the cell as if I could just put text in it but it actually doesn't show anything that I type.

How do I keep the formatting stable in the text editing. I have columns separated by tabs. Every time I click to edit the text Revit re-arranges the paragraph. I can't keep the format stable so the columns read correctly. I never had this problem with CAD.
I feel like a Beta tester right now trying to produce permit documents on a program that isn't finished yet.
