Revit :: Can't Edit Link Tag
Nov 25, 2013When I tag a Revit Link with a multi category tag I can't edit it. I need to give it a number so it can appear in my schedule. I have checked the "include elements in linked files"

Feb 25, 2012I have two parts, one uses some parameters from another one by link.
Now I have copied both and need to update ties between copies since a copy still has a link to original part.
Seems like there is no possible to just change or edit a link from one part to another in Parameters window.
Instead to update a new link I should clean all borrowed parameters in all sketches, delete the folder, make new link and set all parameters back. is it possible to change or edit the link in some easy way?
AutoCAD 2010 :: Where Is EDIT DATA LINK On The Ribbon
Apr 11, 2012I'm using the ribbon in 2012. I've got a drawing index sheet I want to update, and what I need to do to get to the Edit Data Link command is switch to the Classic interface and select the table in order to display the Table toolbar with Edit Data Link button.
I cannot find this anywhere on the ribbon, and the same button icon as Edit Data Link on the Table toolbar runs Data Link Manager from the Annotate tab, Tables panel on the ribbon, which is not what I want.
Where is this on the ribbon? And how come identical tool buttons run different commands in different workspaces?

Dec 14, 2011Why isn’t my DWG link from one RVT visible when I link it into another? I.E. I link my site dwg into my Arch central and want the Site to be visible when I link the Arch into other files. I want the Arch to hold the Site link but be able to see the site when the arch in linked into other models. I could have sworn I have done this in the past but can’t get it to work now for some reason.

Aug 9, 2013I inserted a CAD link "this view only" and I cannot now get it to turn on in any other view. I used this option so I would not have to hide it in every view. Now do I have to delete it and start over inserting it so it shows up everywhere?

Apr 30, 2010An architect sent me his revit file, it contains the full model and all the floor plan views and drawing sheets. He has floor plan views set up for each floor and some enlarged views as well. On each floor plan view each room has a tag that contains room name and room number and every door has a tag that contains the door number.
When I create a new file and link in his file so I can then start working, doing what we need to do, adding devices, etc. The problem is, the architect's room tags and door tags dont link in, and if they do I cant see them. I've gone through every possible combination in the visibility/graphics options to no avail.
Room and door info linking in should be a basic function of revit; how could autodesk expect mech, elec, plumbing engineers to create drawings that have zero room and door info?
If it matters, I'm working in Revit 2010.
Revit :: DB Link Inconsistent Values?
Sep 18, 2013ive recently started to work with DBLink and access 2013 to make take offs mainly. Today i made a small project to test some ideas and found an inconsistency between the material areas and the area of the element, a wall in this case, to which the material is apllied. I think they should be the same, or at least very close, but that´s not the case when i export to access. I've attached a image with a material takeoff schedule from revit and the correspondent query from access (element type name, element area, material name, material area, material volume, material area/element area). The revit one seems correct, but in access the material area values are very different. Initially i thought it would be due to units difference, like the material area were in sq cm and the element area in sq m, but the relationship between them isn´t 10, as you can see in the calculated value. Then i added the material volume to the schedule and query and the results on access are even more strange, i can´t even imagine where this values came from.
I´m using revit architecture 2012

Jun 11, 2013We are new to Revit, and have done a couple of projects in Revit. We have separate models for arch, mech and elect (no struct, this is done outside our office). We currently link models to each other as needed, the architect will link mech and elec. The mech eng. will link arch and elec and so on. Mention the use of a blank model onto which you link all models. I never got a chance to ask the individual how they use it or how it would benefit the process.

This is accomplished by using a nested family - the inserted family has the materials defined. The drop-down list appears just fine in the properties, but we aren't able to apply it to the extrusion. I have tried inserting each family type and using the Label parameter, but Revit won't allow the link.

Nov 12, 2013My titleblock seems to be corrupted and I can't edit it. I need to edit some text on it (highlighted), so when I am on the sheet view in the project I select the titleblock and click 'edit family.'
When I load it into the project I get this error. I would happily create a new titleblock, but I this is used in many places, so I need to edit this one. I tried to upload my Revit Error Report, but this forum is saying it is not a valid extension.
Revit :: Edit A Roof Assembly
May 15, 2008I am trying to edit a roof assembly. My top layer is a roofing membrane. I give the roofing membrane a thickness and try to save and I get an error message saying that it needs to be 0" thickness. I set the thickness to 0" and I get an error message saying that it needs a thickness. How do I get pass this Catch 22?

Revit :: Edit The Keynote Family
Dec 16, 2009I'm trying to edit the keynote family with no luck. We are updating our standards and getting into using the keynote system in revit. I have added the correct keynote to most of our standard materials and its working great. I then opened the keynote family and changed the justification of the text to justify the way we do notes. I also changed the line style of the leader lines so it matches our other notes.
All went well. I get stuck when I try to change the gap between the leader tail and the text. I can't find anywhere to actually edit the line/arrow in the family that would let me change how that works. If you see my attached image the one on the top is our standard note and the other two are the keynote family.
How to set / change that gap?

Feb 25, 2014I would like ask if I create wall from mass by using wall by face. However, the walls have slope and they are not connected to each other.
(Please see the picture) When I would like to edit wall only option shows in modify is update to face. Do they have any way to edit this wall as normal?
AutoCAD LT :: Data Link Manager Can't Delete Excel Link
Dec 26, 2011I'm messing around with tables and data links, practicing. I copied a range of cells in Excel, and did paste special to create a linked table.
Now I can delete the table object, but I cannot delete the link, cannot detach it.
When in Data Manager if I right click on the data link and click delete I get the error message "The data link is being used and cannot be deleted".
I have tried detaching, and the detach does not seem to take.
Now also, the table will not update from the source xls.
Win XP, AcadLT 2011, Office 2010. Using compatible setting for saving spreadsheet, for Office 2007 (not xlsx).
If I create a linked table by starting with the Table icon, choose "from a data link", choose the excel spreadsheet, etc., then I am able to later update the table from the spreadsheet, detach, delete the link, etc. But I can only delete the link if the table is not selected when I open the Data Link Manager.
But the one that was created following the directions from the Autocad video, with the copy, paste special, that link will not detach nor delete.
Revit :: Edit Profile On Curved Wall Is Still Not Possible?
Apr 14, 2011For a very long time I have missed to able to edit profile on a curved wall. It seems so basic and yet it has not been possible. So I was very pleased when it was pronounced that this basic option was finally possible in Revit 2012. Alas it is not. I am so very dissapointed because this is a basic feature wich should have been fixed years ago.
Any simple method to edit profile on a curved wall without having to attach wall top and buttom to invisible layers of floors and roofs ect.
Revit :: Edit Group Box Disappeared - 2011?

Sep 11, 2012Have created a roof with a gable on each end. Edit roof footprint to change the two gable end roof slopes to a hip roof. When I finish the edit, I get a "Can't keep wall & target joined" error message...which affect all sides of the roof. I have done this many times before without ever getting this error message.
The roof being edited is on the two-story portion. There is a gable roof on a lower level on one side.
