How I can edit the default appearance of a Linear Dimension Style. Basically I want to change the default placement of the actual value over the arrow.
I´ve attached two pictures that shows what i mean.
I need to edit the tick mark in dimension style or make a new one, in revit 2011.

At the moment I cannot delete individual dimensions and am required to delete all dimensions in that string and start again.
I have AutoCAD 2011 now and I am not sure where the Dimention style edit (to show in all dimention lines I am using) is...what I have to do now is to change each line EVERY time I dimention any thing.
the other thing is how to scale the drawign in viewport. In older versions it shows easily. Where is it in this one!?

View 9 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to edit the percision for an aligned dimension. I know that the aligned dimension requires walls to be parallel. But what if two walls are .000000002 degrees off from being perfectly parallel? Would that really be enough of a difference to make thealign dimension tool unuseable? Is there a way to change the percision for the aligned dimension to read fewer decimal places? I have a rather large project that is in the later stages of CD's and really don't want to have to recheck the alignment of every wall.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a drawing that was converted into cad and it seems like every dimension has its own style. When I copy use the move comand or try to change the dimension the text changes from being above the dimension line to centered and the text gets closer together horizontally. When I compare a copied dimension to the original it has all the same properties including the text pos vert still being above text. The actual dimension style hasn't changed at all but what is showing up on screen is different.
Here a image showing three dimensions with the same properties, the top 2'-10" is what it should look like, the bottom is what it looks like when I copied it and the 1'-2" is when I make a new dimension.
Cant seem to get my lookup table to adjust the linear dimension. Please see attached the block.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow I can get AutoCad to store my preferred "linear dimension" properties (i.e. arrow size, line weight etc).
Currently the standard setting are not what I use and every time I open a new drawing I have to go into amend a new linear properties and also any new linear dims I create has the standard settings.
I usually create one then "match" it's properties but it's still a bind creating the first one correctly.
I'm using AUTOCAD 2011 x64 (E.208.0.0)I get the dimension linear tool;I specify the first extension line origin clicking somewhere;I specify the second extension line origin clicking somewhere; (ortho mode on)
Then I pull the mouse pointer to the direction I want the dimension go and I type 1, because I want the dimension lie down at a distance of 1 unit from the draw (a wall for example).
If I check the distance from the draw to the dimension line (not to the text) using de "Inquiry > Distance" tool I do not have that 1 unit I have typed, instead it retrieve a value like 0.9822, and this value varies on a random way, every time its different.
When measuring the distance between points the distance is correct. However, when I click dimension and linear the text shows a smaller value. They should match.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAutodesk Inventor 2010 .idw Drawing Detail - Where is the default setting for "Full Dimension Line" so that I can set it to always be on when placing a linear diametric dimension? I would prefer to turn it off on the few occasions when dimensioning a diameter on a Detail View that does not include the center line rather than each and every diameter on a section view. This is necessary because a diameter symbol does not show up in the diameter dimension unless the full distance line it is selected, which is not always possible. I am aware of the Application Option setting that allows Linear Diametric as a preference, which becomes the default for all dimensions, and it is user specific rather than document specific.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working with a template, that doesn't allow me to change the dimension style. In the project the Use Style Library is set to Read/Write. I have created my dimension style, at this point just a copy of the ANSI standard with a text size difference. I went to my template and set that syle as my default, and saved it. Now the fact that it doesn't automatically update the drawing I had alreadycreated is a nuisance, however if I creat a new drawing, the style has reverted to a different standard, that is not even the ANSI default. If I right click a dimension and change the dimstyle to what I saved it does update, but if I try to change the style again it defaults to a random dimstyle, AND changes the style even if I hit cancel. So... the question is how to make the changes stick?

View 3 Replies View RelatedEach time I open a drawing, on my arrow dimension I get a style override which is always scaled at 96. Even if I delete the style override, when I close the drawing and open it again, it's back. It's always on the "arrow" dimension, never any other dimensions. I don't know why it's been doing this, it just started one day out of nowhere. Is there a way I can get rid of it? I'm using AutoCAD 2005.

The standard dimstyle we use is called "MP2013" , we are finding that somehow ACAD is adding something resembling a "$" sign at the end of the dimstyle and the properties are out of whack. We cant work out what brings it on but its been happening for a week or 2 now.

why every time I use the DAL shortcut, I get a dimension style override appear? Yet it doesn't do it when i use DIMALI or the DIMALIGNED button?
I've searched extensively for a solution to this yet I can't find a solution that works. The >Drawing Setup>Scale tab doesn't seem to exist in this version, and I've tried setting all the CreateDimOverride values in the registry to 0, but even that isn't working.

Is there any way when I am dimensioning something to make it read feet and decimals of a foot for instance.
Instead of it reading 5’-6 9/16” it would read 5.546875’?
I tried a few different things on the dimension style and I can get it to read out in decimal inches (it would be 66.5625” with the example givin) but not feet.
The reason I need it is for a program that we run where we must enter the measurement in decimal feet

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a huge problem with my Autocad 2013 for MAC, everything is running nice and steady except for one detail, everytime I open the dimension style format to make a new dimension style, autocad freezes (only autocad, rest of my mac keeps working normally) and I cant work anymore, I have to force quit the program and re-open it, but the dimension style I created gets lost. is there something i can do? i already tried by uninstalling it and reinstalling it and this problem doesnt go.
