Revit :: Contours Not Showing
Nov 2, 2011When constructing my contours in the site plan, they are not visible. The graphic visibility shows they are visible. When I go to the 3d views the contours are visible.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Composite Surface Of Existing Surveyed Contours As TIN Pasted Into Existing Aerial Contours
Nov 15, 2012Some background: We have a composite surface of existing surveyed contours as a TIN pasted into existing aerial contours that we received from a client. We used polylines to generate our proposed contours, and then generated a proposed surface from that. We've made a blank surface, pasted in the existing surface, and are trying to paste in our proposed surface... only the existing contours outside of the proposed suface no longer line up correctly once we do.
We've tried applying the method laid out here: [URL] ........ (and the link referenced in the bottom) but are still having trouble getting the surface to work. We've tried offsetting as little as 0.25' and as much as 5' with the feature line draped over the existing surface, but it seemed that the greater the offset, the greater the discrepancy.
Just to make sure we even tried that correctly - should the breaklines that we add be standard or non-destructive? (I've tried it both ways with little success either way, so I don't know if it matters much in this instance, but perhaps for future reference it would work.)
I've attached a screen shot of our surfaces. The pink and green lines are the proposed contours, the white dashed are the existing. The outer red line is offset 0.25'. As I've mentioned, we've tried offsetting various amounts with decreasing success.
Revit :: Cad Link Not Showing Up
Aug 9, 2013I inserted a CAD link "this view only" and I cannot now get it to turn on in any other view. I used this option so I would not have to hide it in every view. Now do I have to delete it and start over inserting it so it shows up everywhere?

The wall foundations are shown cut, but I cannot get the isolated foundations to show cut. I verified by wall sections that both foundation types are definitely passing through the cut plane.

Jul 24, 2013A new phenomenon today after updating R14 yesterday with the 'rvt2014ur11' patch, though this might not be connected. My revision clouds, after finishing the edit and clicking the big green tick, disappear! The revion number and note is added to the bottom of the sheet but no revision cloud. As annotation objects visibility is on, there is no annotation cut off on a sheet view and they do not show up when the 'Reveal Hidden Elements' is chosen.

Aug 5, 2013This is quite weird because revit architecture 2013 is showing this error. In order to see beam in my architectural layout, we are changing the cut plane value in the view range. With this step I can see the beam but not the cut pattern of the beam..very weird. Also, one more thing, just to check I copy pasted beam modeled in revit 2011 in revit 2013 and I could see the cut pattern. So is something wrong with 2013 beam revit family?

May 9, 2010I have inherited some Revit files, all of which have a ground floor and ceiling plan (hence an associated level).
The levels do not show the in elevations (or sections for that matter). It is not a view setting, I have checked this, nor are they hidden by category or element. I have added new levels and these are visible. The levels exist, I just cannot view them or select them.

Feb 21, 2013I have a file that I have applied different floor finishes to different rooms based on flooring patterns and hatches - they are not visible in the floor plans . Funny thing is if I make a seperate room outside the project in the same view and assign it flooring patterns - it does show up all the floor finishes. The only reason I can think of is phases. I have attached images for reference.

When i create a section from East to west (horizontal) then the level appears fine. I've tried creating many sections and this is always the case. If i select a level in the section and click on select all instances in entire project the number includes the additional level but i can't see it. It is not hidden in the view, not on a different workset or anything unusual...

Feb 11, 2014I am using Revit 2013 and have built a material library for the company I work for. It has been working fine up until about an hour ago. Now when I try to open up the material library I created it says "No assets in this library". I can't figure out why there is nothing there. And I don't want to have to recreate all my materials I already created! I can still find the file in my folders and it says theres 3930 KB of information in the file. I included a picture of what my Assest Editor and Asset Browser show when I try to open my library.

Jan 18, 2013The line color of my family is not showing up. It is just a symbol and it should be red, but it shows up black. I went to the overides in the project and nothing was overridden, so I went ahead and changed the imported families override to red just to see if it would change and it still didn't change. How do I fix this? When I open the family, the lines are red, just not in the project.

Jun 6, 2013I'm placing lighting fixtures in an RCP, and after I place the light and select it, I only get temp dims in the vertical direction on screen, not the horizontal. Before I click to locate the object, the temp dims in both directions show up, but as soon as I click to place, only one tmep dim shows up.
If I place an aligned dimension from a wall face to the center of the light, and then selct the light, the dimension is not activated to adjust the distance. If I want to move the light, I have to drag it - I cannot input the distance into the dimension.
This makes trying to center a light in a room, or a set distance froma wall, next to impossible and extremely annoying and ecessively time comsuming.
Revit :: Border / Rectangle Showing Up In Room Tag
Jul 26, 2013I have a rectangle (looks like a label border) showing up in my room tag. It's a simple tag taken from the OOTB room tag family. I'v re-edited the family, checked the parameters and values. All label borders are off, but this one looks like its either part of a separate, invisible label or a separate rectangle that I can't find to delete.

I restored a backup and tried to copy and paste between the two models and it warns me that there are duplicate items in the same area. Once I get this message all remaining components of that type show up.
I made sure the items weren't hidden or turned off in the model and the views.
Revit :: Toposurface Pattern Showing Through Wall
Jan 28, 2014I'm having trouble getting the visibility of walls within toposurfaces to display correctly. Please see the two attached images, showing a wall extending into a sloped grade. I have a plan view which in some areas shows the wall above grade, and in other areas shows the wall below grade. The red line through image 2 shows the approximate cut line of the plan view shown on image 1. The problem is that the toposurface pattern extends through the interior of the solid wall, in areas where the wall is buried below grade. The plan view display is set to Hidden Line, not Wireframe, and the wall is not set to display as transparent. I want the wall's geometry to cut out the toposurface - you'd see the concrete hatch on the wall, but not the fill pattern of the topography.

Revit :: Louvre Family Not Showing Up In Elevation
Aug 16, 2012My concern is regarding a louvre family i am placing on walls in a multi-storey commercial project. They are viewable in 3d mode and Floor plan view but when i switch to elevation, all i get are holes in the walls where the louvre should be sitting. This louvre family is from Breezway and i am getting the same result with all Breezway family members i have downloaded.

Some shows some do not, only the shade color. i am exporting or printing to pdf these 3d images under consistent shade mode no shadows. I tried flipping wall orientations, didn't work. Apparently when v viewing afar the patterns do not show, when zooming in to the view they show up. but the savifn the current 3d viewing with the patterns partly showing yields the same output prints.

Revit :: Don’t Get Proper Buttons Under MODIFY Tab Showing Up
May 28, 2013I’ve installed Revit 2014, but mainly using 2013. When I installed 2014, the button on the 2013 ribbon started acting funny.
When I select an element, a wall for instance, I don’t get the proper buttons under the MODIFY tab showing up. I have to hit the show/hide button on the drop-down menu that controls the visibility of the ribbon & buttons to get the EDIT PROFILE button.
And it doesn't end there; when I get into EDIT PROFILE mode, the proper buttons are not showing up again. Again, I have to do a show/hide with the drop down menu, and then the proper buttons show up and I can edit the wall.
If I then select another element, such as a roof, I have to go through the same two-extra-step process to edit the roof.
I just re-installed 2013 yesterday because I’ve been having issues with 2013 crashing on a daily basis, and then not opening at all. Yet the same problem still happens. I un-installed 2014, and the problem still happens. After I un-installed 2014, I did a repair on 2013, and the problem still persists.
I spoke to my Tech Support, CAD-1, this morning and they told me it’s possibly an issue with 2014 over writing some .NETFRAMEWORK files for 2013 (or something like that). They saw the problem on my system but couldn’t resolve the issue.
I’ve called Autodesk Tech Support, and of course the made a ticket and “will get back to me.” (I’ve not had much luck w/ Autodesk Tech Support in the past, and have a bad taste in my mouth because of it)
Revit :: Label Family Not Showing In Modified Floors
Aug 23, 2011I have an issue with a label family made to represent the room dimensions. When inserted in a room with the floor without slope, the family works fine, but when inserted on a space with the floor modified for slope porpouse the family is not visible. Does the floor slope modify the visibility of the family? See the attached image, where the shower has the floor modified and the family is not visible.

Revit :: Assigned Levels Not Showing In Project Browser
Jan 29, 2014In starting a new project, I renamed "Level 1" to "Street Level" and "Level 2" to "Level 1". Next I added two additional levels in the drawing, "Level 2" and "Level 3".
My Project Browser shows only Level 1, Site, and Street. Why do the Levels 2 and 3 not show under and how can I get them to.
Revit :: Showing Cut And Fill - Site And Section View
May 22, 2013I'm working on an assignment at present which needs to depict the site cut, fill and batters on both site and section view.
I'm trying to achieve something like this: [URL] ....
I have toposurface happening in both the existing and new construction phases, and have modified the new construction one.
I can get it to show the existing and new ground levels in section view when I change the phase filter, but I can't seem to be able to change the hatching to represent cut and fill. I even tried detailing it in, however I can't seem to get lines to snap to the section cut toposurface.
