AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Subassembly - Generic Pavement Not Showing Its Parameters
Jan 15, 2013When i am creating a assembly, the sub assembly parameters for the generic pavement structure is not showing (such as the lane width or crossfall) Other sub-assemlies show these parameters. Is this a bug or is there a way i can turn this on.
I can change the parameters on the properties.

I have successfully created a Shear wall Family for the core of a building I am modeling.
I've stacked one on top of another and linked it as a project file with a Global "Room Bounding" checked into the main Project File . Geometrically it all works perfectly and even looks right with a concrete fill linestyle. But sadly the instance doesn't appear to realize that it is meant to act like a wall when it comes to adding rooms!
Revit :: Show AutoCAD Colors In Generic Annotation Family?
Mar 22, 2013I have an AutoCAD dwg file that I would like to import into a Revit generic annotation .rfa file. It's a logo file that we're trying to use for a titleblock. It was originally made into a dwg from an EPS file. I would redraw in Revit but when I try it I get the 'line is too short' error. So it goes.
My problem is this- when I set a RGB value in the AutoCAD file, then import it into Revit with the option to preserve colors, it doesn't show the same color I assigned. I know there are some issues with converting ACAD colors to Revit colors.
Revit :: Create Parametric Seating Row With Generic Line Based Family
Nov 12, 2013I am trying to create a parametric seating row with a Generic Line Based family.
If you check the file for the Length (default) parameter, I am multiplying it by the Arm Distance (600mm) so that the pattern repeats while I stretch out the line.
=Chairs * 600 mm
I want to add a parameter for the Arm Distance linked with the actual seat so that if I make the chair wider the pattern would adjust accordingly.
=Chairs * Arm Distance3
This way I could adjust the chair width and Line Based family all at once. However, I am finding that when I add "Arm Distance3" to the equation the Line Based feature stops working.
Revit :: Generic Labels Inside Families To Display Parameters
Jul 10, 2012I have some generic labels inside families to display parameters. These work but they seem to randomly disapear.
I thought it was only happening when families were joined as when I unjoined the offending families the labels were visible again but then after closing and opening the view some of the labels have disapeared again.
If I copy this family to a new location the labels will be visible.

Jul 2, 2013Creating a particular object for use in a revit project. I have attached a group of images.
In short, it is an arched wall that is made up of a series of masonary objects (6types), each with the same dimensions, the only difference being they have different openings. The objects just need to be represented as a solid masonary for now. The individual objects need to be shuffled around the arch to test different configurations.
Would the best approach be to develop the objects as generic model families?

Jan 17, 2012I'm trying to create a custom view title family for the office (see attached). We'd like to have a label for Drawing Type (ie. "Building Plan" in the attached image) in the view title which would appear in the properties tab under identity data, next to the standard Title on Sheet, View Name, etc.
In the project, I am able to create a project parameter which appears as desired in the properties tab, but am unable to add the parameter inside the family when creating it. It seems impossible to add this parameter to the standard view title family template (alongside Detail Number, Sheet Number, etc.).
I tried it using a Generic Annotation family, but in the project, Revit does not recognize that family as a view category family and therefore you cannot choose this family when setting your view type.

Jan 18, 2013The line color of my family is not showing up. It is just a symbol and it should be red, but it shows up black. I went to the overides in the project and nothing was overridden, so I went ahead and changed the imported families override to red just to see if it would change and it still didn't change. How do I fix this? When I open the family, the lines are red, just not in the project.

When inserted in a room with the floor without slope, the family works fine, but when inserted on a space with the floor modified for slope porpouse the family is not visible. Nov 3, 2011I need to modify a curtain wall mullion profile and a plumbing fixture for a model created by another firm. I see the family (e.g Rectangular Mullion) on the project browser window, but I cannot locate the actual rfa file.
For the the Plumbing fixture, I can click on the fixture, and select "edit family", but it saves a new family instead of telling me where the orginal rfa is located.
Obviously, since the model is from another firm, the rfa file is not located on the server where our firm typically stores family files. It's not on the C:// Program Data/ Autodesk/ RAC2011/ Imperial Library...

Nov 29, 2011I am creating a folding door model and would like to use a parameter called EXERIOR WALL OFFSET. I have used this parameter before but am having trouble getting it to work within my family. The only difference is that I created one frame/jamb instead of 4 seperate profiles. The question is, why can't i get the jamb to move within the wall using the exterior wall offset parameter? It seems to move the sash/panels just fine but the jamb is constrainted somehow.

Aug 29, 2011I have two models in Revit 2011 that have items that are not showing in any views. I restored a backup and tried to copy and paste between the two models and it warns me that there are duplicate items in the same area. Once I get this message all remaining components of that type show up.
I made sure the items weren't hidden or turned off in the model and the views.

Jan 29, 2014I'm trying to align a nested family to a reference line in my host family so that it rotates around a certain point.
I've created the reference line in my host family, locked the end point to two reference planes and then gave an angular parameter to the angle between the ref. line and the ref. plane.
I then inserted the nested family and aligned it to the ref. line. The problem is that when I flex the angle, i get a "Constraints not satisfied" error..
What could be wrong?
I'm using a generic face based family for both host and nested families...

Jan 30, 2013I would like to embed a tag as generic annotation within a family so that I can control the visibility of the tag based upon a type shared parameter within the family. However, when I rotate or mirror the family the text and labels within the tag change positions, go backwards, flip upside down, no matter what combiniation of "Keep readable" and Rotate with "Rotate with component" I try.I would like to have the tag look, regardless of which direction the family is facing. How to either:
1. Make the embedded generic annotation maintain the correct orientation
2. Control a tags visibility based upon a shared parameter within the associated family?

I successfully made the section by importing the cad file into a generic mass, but I cant seem to get the lineweights to show up.
I've tried setting overrides and object styles for generic models, but it doesnt register the cut line, only the projection line style.
I also tried importing as an IFC, which also converts the file to generic models, but no dice.
Revit :: Generic Models Schedules To Get Length Of Object
Jul 11, 2013I am using Revit 2013 and I am wondering if there is any easy way of getting my generic model schedules to get the length of the object without having to manually type it in?!
I have attached 2 images to explain what I am talking about. I have created my own countertops and decided for scheduling purposes it would work best to have them as generic models. As you can see from the "Counter Top Properties" image that it has the length of my countertop in the program, but as the "Counter top Schedule" Images shows I can not choose "Length" as an available field. I had to create a parameter for the length ("Length of Unit"), which is just a dimension parameter, and I have to type in manually what the length is. Is there a way to get my schedule to get that length dimension automatically without having to manually type it in!?

Nov 30, 2012I have recently modified the CC of a part family so that different materials for the same part can be chosen. When I exit the editor and place the component I can see the choice of the materials in the dialog box - no problems (See 1st attachment" But when I go to another users PC they cannot see any of the new materials in the "Place content center" dialog box!?!
For information, we are running Inv. 2011 with Vault Professional 2012
The CC libraries are stored on the server and we have one custom library to which I have publish the modified part family.
The custom CC has been fully synchronised with the Vault server.
The materials.xml containing the new materials used in the part family has been downloaded to the users local workspace.

Jul 20, 2012I linked an excel (2010) file with an inventor (2011) .ipt and none of the parameters are showing inside inventor. I was leaving the file external but I embed it also as a trouble shooting step and nothing still. I have no spaces in excel sheet. Is there something special i need to be doing inside excel or inventor?

I want to group three of these windows and schedule the group as Mark #2 - not three separate #1 windows. How do I set up the three windows together to become a single window schedulable for the entire opening of the three windows grouped together so that the opening would read 9'-0" wide?
