Note: The image should be associated with the family.

Jun 19, 2013For face based family, if I insert it on the Floor, the Front of family will face South.
If I insert it on the ceiling, the Front of family will face North For ceiling based family
If I insert it on the ceiling, the Front of family will face south. Why face based family faces differently?

Revit :: Unable To Locate Family Files For Model From Another Firm
Nov 3, 2011I need to modify a curtain wall mullion profile and a plumbing fixture for a model created by another firm. I see the family (e.g Rectangular Mullion) on the project browser window, but I cannot locate the actual rfa file.
For the the Plumbing fixture, I can click on the fixture, and select "edit family", but it saves a new family instead of telling me where the orginal rfa is located.
Obviously, since the model is from another firm, the rfa file is not located on the server where our firm typically stores family files. It's not on the C:// Program Data/ Autodesk/ RAC2011/ Imperial Library...
Revit :: Creating Folding Door Model - Exterior Wall Offset Family
Nov 29, 2011I am creating a folding door model and would like to use a parameter called EXERIOR WALL OFFSET. I have used this parameter before but am having trouble getting it to work within my family. The only difference is that I created one frame/jamb instead of 4 seperate profiles. The question is, why can't i get the jamb to move within the wall using the exterior wall offset parameter? It seems to move the sash/panels just fine but the jamb is constrainted somehow.

Feb 23, 2012It would be really nice to be able to save a family as a previous version. There are so many things we've created in Revit Arch 2012 that we can't use when an older drawing comes up again. I know we should upgrade the .rvt to the newest version, but that's not how it works where I work. In my backwards company we do things the hard way, so for people like us, it would be nice to just save the .rfa as Revit Arch 2011 or 2010 etc. even if some of the stuff doesn't transfer, the attributes would.

Apr 4, 2012I do not see a way to control visiblilty of a raster image (jpeg) in a family (titleblock) that is in a project. I want the ability to turn off a stamp before plotting. R-2012. Raster images in model categories did not work. Adding a parameter in the titleblock family under 'Lock Proportions' did not work. (Other elements that use these same parameters to turn on/off visibilty were available there.)

May 21, 2012I'm trying to create a titleblock family that has an image or dwg of my site. The easy way to do this is save a new family and import a cad file or jpg of the site plan.
However, I'd like to avoid creating a new titleblock family for each project with a new imported site image.
I thought I would be able to just make the image's "Loaded from file" address an editable field that could be updated in the project info like all the other parameters, but it doesn't seem to be possible.
Revit :: How To Align Nested Family To Reference Line In Host Family To Rotates Around A Certain Point
Jan 29, 2014I'm trying to align a nested family to a reference line in my host family so that it rotates around a certain point.
I've created the reference line in my host family, locked the end point to two reference planes and then gave an angular parameter to the angle between the ref. line and the ref. plane.
I then inserted the nested family and aligned it to the ref. line. The problem is that when I flex the angle, i get a "Constraints not satisfied" error..
What could be wrong?
I'm using a generic face based family for both host and nested families...

Revit :: Family Dialog Box Does Not Open
Nov 9, 2011Recently, My revit does not load families. The process I use is the following:
In the Build area of the home ribbon, I select the Component button. I going to the Place component ribbon. When I select Load Family form the Mode portion of the ribbon, the properties box pops up. It is locked at this point and I cannot do anything but hit escape. The program functions just fine in all other aspects. I have used a vanilla project to see if the project I am working on is corrupted and I get the same results.

It has a curve. basically what I have done is created the line work on plan but now I want to use that curved line to create my family. which I am thinking I can create a profile and then sweep it on those lines. The problem is I can get the line work to the family.

Dec 16, 2009I'm trying to edit the keynote family with no luck. We are updating our standards and getting into using the keynote system in revit. I have added the correct keynote to most of our standard materials and its working great. I then opened the keynote family and changed the justification of the text to justify the way we do notes. I also changed the line style of the leader lines so it matches our other notes.
All went well. I get stuck when I try to change the gap between the leader tail and the text. I can't find anywhere to actually edit the line/arrow in the family that would let me change how that works. If you see my attached image the one on the top is our standard note and the other two are the keynote family.
How to set / change that gap?

Dec 13, 2012I know I must just be missing this somewhere, but I would like to shut off the geometry inside a family that's associated with a specific parameter. This is while I'm editing the family.
Specifically, the family I'm creating is for an appliance that has the option of an arched, or rectangular opening. Once I associate the geometry for the arched opening with a parameter, I'd like to shut that off, so that I can create the rectangular opening. Similar to how the family behaves once it's brought into a project.
Right now, I'm just kind of using the temporary hide functionality to shut them off, but if I turn them on, then have to go back to make edits, I have to select the individual geometry all over again to hide it. I've also noticed that some geometry, even when hidden, can still be selected.

Nov 3, 2006I've done a bit of photo retouching on faces before: removing skin blemishes, changing eye colour, etc. I've only ever made subtle changes though; I saw a before and after of a photo retouch job on a model that went into a magazine (can't find the link now) and the difference was staggering! Does any one know of a tutorial or reference guide that takes you through the techniques? I know it's a huge topic but I know my way round Photoshop and I'm keen to know the techniques rather than a step-by-step guide.

Oct 31, 2011I started my head model with a sphere ad I moved vertesis to shaped it, created lips and weld it onto the face, created two spheres that makes the eyes. I added a skin texture, the weldings of vertesis looks planar ang blocky thatn round and I cant seem to make it appear like a pro one. Its even hard to animate. I just wish I can overcome this, im stuck.
