Nov 2, 2011This includes door opening/cased and opening-elliptical art. When I put them into my drawing they show up in the preview but do not insert into my drawing.

Revit :: Load Family Dialog Box Does Not Appear?
Jul 18, 2013In Revit 2013 I attempt to load an item from the Family but I find that the “Load Family” dialog box does not appear. how to get it to cooperate? Even starting a new project the load family dialog box does not appear. I have done: 1) system restore, 2 ) repaired install, 3 ) re-installed, 4) uninstalled and reinstalled from scratch but still the problems persists on this machine. all other office PC’s with Revit 2013 behave.

Dec 12, 2013When I save a selection in the family editor I can't seem to find the load selection button on the manage tab like you would in the project environment. The whole panel selection is not there. If I make a selection of at least two elements I get the load selection button on the modify tab. Is this as design or as forgotten?
At this moment it seems I first have to make a selection in order to load another selection.

Revit :: Family Will Not Change Type After Load
Feb 21, 2012I'm going through a tutorial on families (Paul Aubin) and have created a shelf w/ nested brackets that works as expected when flexed in the family editor. Any project I load it into shows it at its default configuration, but when I select it in the project and change it's type in the properties box, the configuration does not flex - it stays as inserted. It also shows my parameters in the properties box as individually modifiable.

Jan 29, 2014I have placed showers within various apartments. These apartments are groups. I have made a change to the family, (realigned a reference plane to be equal between two points). Now I reload the family into the project and no matter what I try, I cannot load it into the project without getting the ungroup error.
Prior to the warning, it states i need to delete a number of dimension references. Which I allow, then the group error appears telling me I still have constraint problems.
I thought it would be fine to dimension to families in groups, but it appears their is the potential for problems.

Jan 29, 2014I'm trying to align a nested family to a reference line in my host family so that it rotates around a certain point.
I've created the reference line in my host family, locked the end point to two reference planes and then gave an angular parameter to the angle between the ref. line and the ref. plane.
I then inserted the nested family and aligned it to the ref. line. The problem is that when I flex the angle, i get a "Constraints not satisfied" error..
What could be wrong?
I'm using a generic face based family for both host and nested families...

Oct 7, 2011We are using Tube and Pipe with custom valves, flanges etc published to and taken from Content Center. Quite frequently we have to mock up a vendor supplied valve until we get the final model from them (usually near the end of the project) the mocked up valves can change in design over the course of the project, which means submitting and re-submitting different versions of valve with a slightly different name each time.
To try and keep things tidy (and prevent confusion with other users) I've tried to delete existing families and replace again with the same name, but Inventor T&P/CC won't allow this, and usually get the error message about family name already existing.
How can I truly delete the family and have no trace left on CC/Vault/working folders etc? Is there a workflow I should be aware of for such a task?

Jul 5, 2013I've attached a simple RVT file with a family inserted and the front view active. I need to rotate the family 90 degrees but Revit reports the following error:
"Can't draw because Work Plane is at a very sharp angle in this view. Go to another view or redefine the Work Plane."

I want to group three of these windows and schedule the group as Mark #2 - not three separate #1 windows. May 21, 2013I downloaded a grab bar family that I thought looked very good. But then I tried to place it on the toilet stall portion (I also downloaded stall partition families). When I tried to place the grab bar, it wouldn't place -- I believe because the grab bar is WALL BASED.
So now the question is how do I go about placing a grab bar (or anything else) that is not wall based so that I can use it with the stall portion? I had tried to use face based but couldn't get that too work.

Revit :: Family Dialog Box Does Not Open
Nov 9, 2011Recently, My revit does not load families. The process I use is the following:
In the Build area of the home ribbon, I select the Component button. I going to the Place component ribbon. When I select Load Family form the Mode portion of the ribbon, the properties box pops up. It is locked at this point and I cannot do anything but hit escape. The program functions just fine in all other aspects. I have used a vanilla project to see if the project I am working on is corrupted and I get the same results.

It has a curve. basically what I have done is created the line work on plan but now I want to use that curved line to create my family. which I am thinking I can create a profile and then sweep it on those lines. The problem is I can get the line work to the family.

Dec 16, 2009I'm trying to edit the keynote family with no luck. We are updating our standards and getting into using the keynote system in revit. I have added the correct keynote to most of our standard materials and its working great. I then opened the keynote family and changed the justification of the text to justify the way we do notes. I also changed the line style of the leader lines so it matches our other notes.
All went well. I get stuck when I try to change the gap between the leader tail and the text. I can't find anywhere to actually edit the line/arrow in the family that would let me change how that works. If you see my attached image the one on the top is our standard note and the other two are the keynote family.
How to set / change that gap?

Dec 13, 2012I know I must just be missing this somewhere, but I would like to shut off the geometry inside a family that's associated with a specific parameter. This is while I'm editing the family.
Specifically, the family I'm creating is for an appliance that has the option of an arched, or rectangular opening. Once I associate the geometry for the arched opening with a parameter, I'd like to shut that off, so that I can create the rectangular opening. Similar to how the family behaves once it's brought into a project.
Right now, I'm just kind of using the temporary hide functionality to shut them off, but if I turn them on, then have to go back to make edits, I have to select the individual geometry all over again to hide it. I've also noticed that some geometry, even when hidden, can still be selected.

Jan 18, 2013The line color of my family is not showing up. It is just a symbol and it should be red, but it shows up black. I went to the overides in the project and nothing was overridden, so I went ahead and changed the imported families override to red just to see if it would change and it still didn't change. How do I fix this? When I open the family, the lines are red, just not in the project.
