I had a 3 year old imac with CS3 installed, which has failed. I have bought a brand new imac 27", but I was told in the store that this machine is too new to use CS3!
Is it the OS thats too new or the hardware? I'm happy to downgrade my ios to snow leopard or something like that.
We just bought a brand new iMac for the office (OS 10.8.2, 2.9 GHz Inetl Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3) also bought the new Adobe CS6 standard but PHOTOSHOP and INDESIGN keep hanging.
- I haven't been working on large files
- They don't hang when I use the type tool
- I've fideled around with the scratch disk thinking maybe it was the issue, and the first time it got better but then 2 days later it got drastically worse.
- I un-checked 'auto save file in background' on PS6
- I've uninstalled and re-installed PS and iN
- I've been to every forum
- I've sent crash reports
I just walked in to work, switched it on and I can't even get to General Preferences on PS6.
It only happens after Photoshop CS6 (fully updated i Mac and CS6 - see below image for specs) has been running for awhile. The screen, in dark areas of the display, will have screen flicker like stars twinkling on a night sky. Then the display will completely go black and then back on about every 5 seconds. The only way I can make it stop is to power the i Mac off and then start it back up. Then it's fine until the next time I start Photoshop.
It doesn't do it immediately when Photoshop starts. It's usually about 30 - 60 minutes after I've started it. Also if I open Photoshop and use it and then shut it down I don't have any issues...only after it has been running for a while.
I would like to purchase a Wacom Intuos 5 touch to do image retouching and processing, but I have it difficult to choose the size, medium or large.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy hard drive failed and a new hard drive has been installed on my iMac. I now have to reinstall Photoshop CS5. This is an upgrade version but I have the full version of CS3.
I can't get the installation disk to run from the DVD drive (I have installed other software from the drive today so this is not faulty). The disk is simply ejected. I am using OSX Lion. What am I doing wrong?
My Dell computer running WIN7 just died and we have replaced it with an iMac running Parallels/WIN7. I have tried to install my CS4 on the new machine and have the following problem. Disk 1 loads fine and goes to the end and asks for Disk 2. I insert Disk 2 and it won't continue the install. I have opened the disk and all files are in good shape.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSomeone would like a small 1 inch by 1 inch logo for invoices at 600 DPI. However I understand that illustrator doesnt work in DPI or PPI since it's vector. Would I have to transfer the small image over to photoshop. I did try and save a 1 inch by 1 inch logo at 600 PPI, however when I saved the image it was no longer 1 inch by 1 inch. It had increased significantly in size regardless of what file format I saved the image as.

For example, if I select the Rectangle Tool, click in the art space and set the rectangle to one inch by one inch, I get a box that is 1.0003 by 1.0003
Here is a screen shot of what I am getting.
This is also happening to any rectangle and circle.
Even if I hold down shift to keep the preportions lock, it still happens.
I have check and nothing is snapping or set to snap.
This is a major issue for me as I use illustator for creating dielines and those dielines need to be very accurate.
I had a HD crash recently and I am attempting to re-install PS 7.0 on a new HD with Windows XP Pro. The installation goes flawlessly, but afterwards, when I launch PS, I get an error message that PS cannot initialize because the scratch files are full.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem where opening any previously saved photoshop document causes pen pressure to stop working. Upon opening any previously saved document, I get a little warning icon guy next to any parameter set to pen pressure control in the brush pane. Hovering over the warning icon gives me a tooltip that says "Control by pen pressure requires the use of a pressure sensitive tablet".
If I open Photoshop and create a brand new document, everything works fine. But once I open any previously created file, pen pressure completely stops functioning until I restart Photoshop, even if I create a new document from that point.
I'm using a Cintiq 21UX (driver version 6.3.4-3) with Photoshop CC (14.1.1) on a Windows 7 machine.
What is the quickest ways to "brand" my photos?

I'm working with Jpeg image files, mainly using Batch Processing. This error is usually occuring when I go to save my files, but today it occurred in the middle of using Content Aware. My crop tool is set at 250 resolution, and today I hadn't even cropped yet. Mac was freshly restarted last night and only a few picures edited after I restarted, so all memory should have been mainly purged. (although I had used content aware on one picture last night after restarting, a pretty large corner of a studio backdrop)
Should I be partioning my external? Is this TOO much space? My thinking was an empty hard drive wouldn't have to be searched, but I really probably don't know what I'm talking about.
I never got any errors when I was using my internal HD on the Mac, it was just slowing down after using Batch Processing and Actions. (I edit for a photographer) I do realize I should be using Lightroom. I have Lightroom 3, but I just don't have the time to learn right now, as this is the photographers busy season.
How would you go about creating a Cattle Brand? I'm trying to create something simple using the letters "dP" to produce something along these lines:
I want to have a textured background that resembles hair (does not need to change shade, though) and a way to make a rough looking outline for the letters.

I know there is some discussions about this topic, but I didn't find anything specific with brands of lenses.
When I export with Aperture, correct Lens ID appears in the Exif data:
Eg Lens Model: Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
But when I export the same CR2 file in Lightroom, "Canon" is omitted, I got:
Lens Model: EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
Same thing with pictures taked with my Sigma and Canon family.
In my case this is a "problem". I need Exif tags containing lens brand for an accurate process with others softwares, for example with PTGUI to generate spherical panoramic.
What is the optimal number of dpi/inch or dpi/cm to work and to plot a 3m x 0.8m paper /photo paper/ orapaper , RGB or CMYK, are there plotters optimizeds to plot from RGB better CMYK ?

I'm having trouble printing an image that's longer than 11 inches. I have a Canon i560 printer, and use either PS 7 or PS CS.
I want to print an image that's 6 x 16 inches, using 13x19" paper that I've cut in half the long way. I specified Custom (for size), and got approximately the correct width, but it stops printing after 11 inches. I also tried printing a JPG version of the image using WindowsXP print utility, and it allowed me to specify a custom size, but it also stops printing after 11 inches in length.
I had an 11x14 document set at 175 pix/in. When printed the document was huge (probably 75% too big, maybe more). I was thinking maybe there can only be so many pixels per inch, and because I had it set too high, the dimensions of the doc. were distorted. Anyone know if there is such a magick number?

View 9 Replies View RelatedIt happens both by dragging the file into the icon, AND opening up with control click, so i am getting this tiny window.
Of course I can enlarge by numerous command +, or magnify tool, but the idea would be to be able to open it up at a reasonable size.
The worst is when by enlarging, sometimes it turns into a rectangulAR stripe, and I have to enlarge it by pulling the bottom corner.
This happened in the past with different computers and different OS< so the fact that I have the latest Lion is not part of the issue, I hope.

CS3 / XP Home. I am trying to print a 7 by 10 in image using my old Canon BJ200 printer. On Page Setup the right margin always default to 2.5 in,despite repeatly input to defferent numbers. I've lowered the image to 300dpi with no effect on print setting.What can I do?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter cropping a photo in cs4 i have tried hitting the return key as well as edit/crop and then my photo disappears and the image box reduces in size to about 1 inch square with no image. I have expanded the image box but nil photo. This has never happened before.
I reloaded cs4 onto my computer but the problem still exists. I have also tried out opening the file from Bridge as well as Photoshop with the same result.
I have used Photoshop 5.5 (on a disc with key) on Windows XP happily for several years. I am now converting to an iMac. Will this version load and work?
