View 6 RepliesI had a 3 year old imac with CS3 installed, which has failed. I have bought a brand new imac 27", but I was told in the store that this machine is too new to use CS3!
Â
Is it the OS thats too new or the hardware? I'm happy to downgrade my ios to snow leopard or something like that.
It only happens after Photoshop CS6 (fully updated i Mac and CS6 - see below image for specs) has been running for awhile. The screen, in dark areas of the display, will have screen flicker like stars twinkling on a night sky. Then the display will completely go black and then back on about every 5 seconds. The only way I can make it stop is to power the i Mac off and then start it back up. Then it's fine until the next time I start Photoshop.
It doesn't do it immediately when Photoshop starts. It's usually about 30 - 60 minutes after I've started it. Also if I open Photoshop and use it and then shut it down I don't have any issues...only after it has been running for a while.
I'm considering purchasing a new 21.5-inch iMac that comes equipped with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M graphics processor with 512MB of GDDR5 memory. Will this graphics card be sufficient to run Photoshop CS6?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering, is wacom a good tablet for the price? I know nothing about graphic tablets and I am not by any means an artist, but is it a good tablet to start out on? I know it has 512 levels of pressure ( I hope I said that right) and 3048 LPI of resolution and that's about it.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI own a Wacom Intuos3. I could use it for a few weeks, but after that, when using Photoshop, my Cursor wouldn't hover where my pen was.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set the pen i'm using to work with pressure. The brush strokes should become darker as i press harder. I've set the 'shape dynamics' and 'other dynamics' to pen pressure but it still doesn't work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedPhotoshop doesnt seem to be able to distinguish between pressures. if i want to draw a simple black line, the first time i draw, it'll come out light grey, no matter how hard i press the "pen" on the tablet. it will only become black after i've redrawn over the
first shape over and over again about 5-6 times, which isnt very normal.
i was wondering if anyone could tell me :
1) where to find all the options related to the tablet in photoshop CS
2) worst case scenario, a complete options-reset, which i was told is reached when pressing "alt, ctrl" and something else, but cant remember.
I updated my PS-CC to 14.1.2 and now my graphics card is not recognized. The problem this update was suppose to have fixed. I have an iMac 27-inch late 2012 with 32 GB memory and 1TB hard drive. My graphic card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M 512 MB.  When starting PS-CC after the update, I received a message that my graphics card was not recognized and I need to update the driver.Â
As you known, only Apple has updates to the graphics driver. There is NO update to the driver on Apple. In checking my preferences I do not have Open GL capability now. My driver worked just fine with 14.1.1. I'm going to try and retreat back to the 14.1.1 if that is possible.Â
I just got the new Photoshop CS4 (yay for education editions) and started to work on some pictures.I'm a digital painter and for that I use a graphic tablet (wacom Intuos 3, so actually a pretty good one). At first I was really surprised because PS reacted very softly and smoothly to the pen pressure that I gave with my graphic pen. But suddenly it started to stop reacting to pen pressure and it was as if I drew with a mouse or stamped my pen on the tablet (so no reacting to pen pressure at all, "round ended" edges instead of the "sharp ended" lines etc.). I was really shocked but then PS changed to pen pressure again. After this effect returned various times I figured out that if you give strong(er) pen pressure from the beggining during drawing a line, Photoshop autmatically uses "mouse settings" so that you can work with and without pen pressure when using a tablet. The problem: The difference between pen pressure and no pen pressure is so tiny that it is almost impossible to paint because if you don't touch the tablet like a feather it will go "boom" and you have your numb undynamic lines.I tried to paint a bit longer to get used to it but it is so difficult that I doubt I can really paint with it. It just jumps to "no pen pressure" too fast. I don't know if this also appeared in older versions but it wasn't in my old PS7 and in fact it sort of annoys me. I can't paint like I used to because of this setting...I don't know if there is a bug or if I need a new patch for my tablet or anything else for cs4 or if there is an option to just use only pen pressure.

View 4 Replies View Related1. I need to create coloring pages that contain the same thickness lines throughout the entire image and was hoping to do this in Photoshop. Use graphic tablet for this. From my research there is no mention of enabling the same thickness line but rather it appears to be very sensitive to pressure applied and that the lines tend to thicken and thicken according to hand pressure. Can you clarify if my task can indeed be accomplished with the use of a graphic tablet?
Â
2. If so, what will need to be set up for this to happen?
Â
3. Also, I will need to trace a hand-drawn image via the use of the tablet as well. There was mention of some tablets containing a lift up transparent surface for enabling slipping a paper beneath. Is this a usefull and necessary feature for my application?
I'm trying to install a graphics tablet on my computer (Dell, Windows 64-bit), but for some reason it wasn't working with my Photoshop CS6 Extended. I was advised to uninstall Photoshop and then re-install in order to get the tablet to work with it. I have the Creative Suite 6 Design and Web Premium but I only uninstalled Photoshop Extended specifically.
Now that I'm going to re-install Photoshop, I'm unsure what to do. Do I download the trial version of Photoshop Extended and then put in my serial number? Or should I uninstall all of the Creative Suite and then re-install that?
I had an 11x14 document set at 175 pix/in. When printed the document was huge (probably 75% too big, maybe more). I was thinking maybe there can only be so many pixels per inch, and because I had it set too high, the dimensions of the doc. were distorted. Anyone know if there is such a magick number?
View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing Photoshop Elements 10, my photo reduces in size about 1/2 inch when moved onto a piece of paper. What am I doing wrong?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter cropping a photo in cs4 i have tried hitting the return key as well as edit/crop and then my photo disappears and the image box reduces in size to about 1 inch square with no image. I have expanded the image box but nil photo. This has never happened before.
I reloaded cs4 onto my computer but the problem still exists. I have also tried out opening the file from Bridge as well as Photoshop with the same result.
I have created a pressure network using 8-inch diameter pipes. How would I change the 8-inch pipes to 6-inch pipes without having to recreate the network.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSomeone would like a small 1 inch by 1 inch logo for invoices at 600 DPI. However I understand that illustrator doesnt work in DPI or PPI since it's vector. Would I have to transfer the small image over to photoshop. I did try and save a 1 inch by 1 inch logo at 600 PPI, however when I saved the image it was no longer 1 inch by 1 inch. It had increased significantly in size regardless of what file format I saved the image as.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I try to draw a square box in any size, illustator does not make it square.
Â
For example, if I select the Rectangle Tool, click in the art space and set the rectangle to one inch by one inch, I get a box that is 1.0003 by 1.0003
Â
Here is a screen shot of what I am getting.
Â
This is also happening to any rectangle and circle.
Â
Even if I hold down shift to keep the preportions lock, it still happens.
Â
I have check and nothing is snapping or set to snap.

This is a major issue for me as I use illustator for creating dielines and those dielines need to be very accurate.
I have been creating different designs in various sizes, such as 4x6 and 12x12 or letter size. What I need to know is how to view the design in photoshop at those sizes without having to hold a ruler up to my computer? A few years ago I was told of a shortcut key, I think it was Ctrl+1, to make it full-size. It turned out not to be accurate advise. I learned this after creating fifty 4x6 designs and after they were printed I discovered they print was way too small. I need a more accurate and scientific way to have Photoshop resize the view to the actual size of the graphic so I can span the design and confirm everything is legible and visiable before I print it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently working on a video (hi-def, 1080x1920, 16x9 screen size). I want to add two different graphic elements at different points in the video (amateur home stuff). The first item is a graphic to be used as a static background picture via a green screen technique. The second item is an animation with an alpha channel to overlay a video scene. Both items will be created using Xara. My question is: How big do I make the document & animation so that they will fit seamlessly into the above video? Do I work with a document size of 16x9 inches or 1080x1920 pixels? I realize this is probably a simple question. But I need you experts to weigh in.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am working on a scatter chart in Illustrator. We would like to use circles instead of the default square. I have figured out how to create and use a custom graphic for this. However, no matter what size circle I create, it seems to default back to the size of what the square was.
Â
Is there any way to customize the size of the graphic objects used in the scatter chart?
I have an InDesign document, where I have defined some Object styles for my text frames - such as the size (width x hight) of the text frames, and this works fine.
Â
I would like to do the same thing for my graphic frames, but I can't find this option. I figure it must be possible somehow?
Â
An object style which makes the picture frame ex. 50 x 50 mm. with the picture centered in the frame.
Does anyone know of a tutorial or a site that may explain how to do this? I dont mind redrawing the graphic, but i would like vector graphic made.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI create a graphic in Corel Draw X4 and export it as a .png file. It is a button with rounded corners. It will be going on a black background when put into an iphone app. So as to not have the little white corners show up from the rectangular export window, I made the button on top of a black rectangle, slightly larger than the button. I then selected the black to be transparant during the dialogs of exporting to png. When viewed in an image viewer the black is indeed transparent and does not show up. All looks fine.Â
To test what it will look like when put on top of a black background, I also make a black square and export it as a .png. I then open the black background in Corel Photopaint and then import the graphic into the background image. A siloutte of it shows up with the marque borders but the graphic itself (the colors and contents of the graphic don't). When combined with the black background it just disappears. Why doesn't it just lay on top of the other graphic?
