Photoshop :: Keeps Hanging On Brand New IMac
Jan 16, 2013We just bought a brand new iMac for the office (OS 10.8.2, 2.9 GHz Inetl Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3) also bought the new Adobe CS6 standard but PHOTOSHOP and INDESIGN keep hanging.
- I haven't been working on large files
- They don't hang when I use the type tool
- I've fideled around with the scratch disk thinking maybe it was the issue, and the first time it got better but then 2 days later it got drastically worse.
- I un-checked 'auto save file in background' on PS6
- I've uninstalled and re-installed PS and iN
- I've been to every forum
- I've sent crash reports
I just walked in to work, switched it on and I can't even get to General Preferences on PS6.

Mar 7, 2012I had a HD crash recently and I am attempting to re-install PS 7.0 on a new HD with Windows XP Pro. The installation goes flawlessly, but afterwards, when I launch PS, I get an error message that PS cannot initialize because the scratch files are full.

Feb 8, 2013I had a 3 year old imac with CS3 installed, which has failed. I have bought a brand new imac 27", but I was told in the store that this machine is too new to use CS3!
Is it the OS thats too new or the hardware? I'm happy to downgrade my ios to snow leopard or something like that.
Photoshop :: Pen Pressure Only Works In Brand New Document
Sep 27, 2013I'm having a problem where opening any previously saved photoshop document causes pen pressure to stop working. Upon opening any previously saved document, I get a little warning icon guy next to any parameter set to pen pressure control in the brush pane. Hovering over the warning icon gives me a tooltip that says "Control by pen pressure requires the use of a pressure sensitive tablet".
If I open Photoshop and create a brand new document, everything works fine. But once I open any previously created file, pen pressure completely stops functioning until I restart Photoshop, even if I create a new document from that point.
I'm using a Cintiq 21UX (driver version 6.3.4-3) with Photoshop CC (14.1.1) on a Windows 7 machine.

3.2 Ghz Intel Core i3
8 Gb 1333Mhz DDR3 (was running 4 gb. an apple specialist just installed another 4 of Crucial brand. I wanted 16gb, but apparently I got a Mac in mid 2010 when it's finicky about it's Ram. Ugh)
Photoshop CS5 12.0.4 x64
Brand new 1 TB Toshiba External Used Only as a Scratch Disk,
Available: 999.35
Used 848.3 Mb
Files: 73
Folders: 14
Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1 TB internal on the Mac that is checkmarked as secondary Scratch.
I'm working with Jpeg image files, mainly using Batch Processing. This error is usually occuring when I go to save my files, but today it occurred in the middle of using Content Aware. My crop tool is set at 250 resolution, and today I hadn't even cropped yet. Mac was freshly restarted last night and only a few picures edited after I restarted, so all memory should have been mainly purged. (although I had used content aware on one picture last night after restarting, a pretty large corner of a studio backdrop)
Should I be partioning my external? Is this TOO much space? My thinking was an empty hard drive wouldn't have to be searched, but I really probably don't know what I'm talking about.
I never got any errors when I was using my internal HD on the Mac, it was just slowing down after using Batch Processing and Actions. (I edit for a photographer) I do realize I should be using Lightroom. I have Lightroom 3, but I just don't have the time to learn right now, as this is the photographers busy season.

Jul 8, 2013I have used PSE 5 happily and greatly liked the auto sharpen feature. I have been forced to upgrade to PSE 11 due to Windows 8 incompatibility with 5.
I am appalled to find that the sharpen feature, including auto, does not work in Quick or Guided modes. The small previews in Quick mode show the correct sharpening effect but clicking on them or using the slider does not transfer to the main image. I either have to go into full unsharp mask, which I hate for quick fixes, or use the 'adjust sharpness' option under 'filter' in Quick or Guided Mode, which increases sharpness by an unspecified amount on each click.

Oct 4, 2012I'm looking for a solution about the omission of lens brand in the Exif data generated by Lightroom (even 4.2 version).
I know there is some discussions about this topic, but I didn't find anything specific with brands of lenses.
When I export with Aperture, correct Lens ID appears in the Exif data:
Eg Lens Model: Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
But when I export the same CR2 file in Lightroom, "Canon" is omitted, I got:
Lens Model: EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
Same thing with pictures taked with my Sigma and Canon family.
In my case this is a "problem". I need Exif tags containing lens brand for an accurate process with others softwares, for example with PTGUI to generate spherical panoramic.

With all the sort and search functionality, I don't understand the benefit of albums.I name my image folders using a standard naming convention with the date embedded so it makes them rather easy to manage.

When I attempt to sync photos in iTunes (to synch with my iPhone), Photoshop Elements appears in the drop down and when I select it, it finds all the "albums" in the catalog. However, when I select an album to sync, iTunes indicates 0 photos are available in the album.
I'm running photoshop elements 11, iTunes 11.0.1.12, Windows 8 Pro.
if I try to sync "all photos and albums" it still reports that there are "0 photos" available to sync.
I've tried to make new albums, which iTunes "sees" the names, but there are "0 photos" available to sync.
I've also tried to sync with a folder (file system) which works just fine.

Mar 18, 2013I can not paste photos from my photos file. If I start a blank file I can paste anything photos want from the web in as many layers as I want. If I try to paste a photo from my own photos file it becomes the back ground by itself. I don't know how to stop this. Using photoshop elements 11.
