New user to PSE11. Is it recommended that ALL photos be in albums or is the idea that photos in albums are a subset of the photos in folders? With all the sort and search functionality, I don't understand the benefit of albums.I name my image folders using a standard naming convention with the date embedded so it makes them rather easy to manage.

I now want to select a subset of individual photos and create a slide show with captions, and optionally, the dates and keywords.
he only feature that looks like it may do this is Write Keyword and Properies to photos, but I can't fond any reference to this and whether it would do what I want.
I don't seem to be able to download the User Manual which might work.
I am using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 on a Mac running Mountain Lion. When I opened PSE today and the organizer, I noticed that the Albums all had a "- sign" - sure enough, I looked in each album and they are all empty. I didn't actually notice it until I'd created a new album, dragged in some photos, looked at the photos in the editor and then went back to the organizer where I found that the album I had been working on was empty. The photos themselves all appear to be in the media of the organizer but just not in the albums an longer. or if not, how the heck do I just delete an album?
btw, all my "folders" still show up below the albums.
a PS.. since posting this, all the media has disappeared from my organizer (the albums part) previously if I clicked on the "all media" button, it would show me all my photos but they have now disappeared as well.
a new glitch -- now when I double click on an album - photos appear in it that don't belong there -- in fact in most albums, I'm getting the photos I just imported into my hard drive today and made into a new album!
I need to share photographs in an online photography class I am taking by setting up an album and giving the class access to look at them with an URL link. Can I do this using Photoshop Elements?

It seems to have only happened to recent photos and the older ones I think are ok. I am using PSE 9. I recently had to switch external hard drives and reconnect my catalog to the new hard drive. But that seemed to be OK except for losing most of the tags on my photos. When I tried to import missing files (because they are still on the harddrive) I get the message that the files already exist. However they are not showing in the files they are supposed to be in. When I open these files in the Editor and save the dited version, they show up in the Organizer, but I cannot get any of the others in this folder to show up. Each time I try to import, it goes through some number of photos, up through 2,00 plus sometimes and then says import failed and I get nothing. The instructions in Adobe Photo Elements 11 Classroom In a Book are the classic Windows "Drag and Drop" Method. However, when I try to do it, the cursor/icon I am dragging turns into a gray circle with a gray diagonal when it reaches the Media Browser pane in the Organizer and the folder/photo is not imported into the Organizer when I "drop." Do I need to change setting in Windows (Vista, SP2) or Photoshop Elements 11?

When I attempt to sync photos in iTunes (to synch with my iPhone), Photoshop Elements appears in the drop down and when I select it, it finds all the "albums" in the catalog. However, when I select an album to sync, iTunes indicates 0 photos are available in the album.
I'm running photoshop elements 11, iTunes 11.0.1.12, Windows 8 Pro.
if I try to sync "all photos and albums" it still reports that there are "0 photos" available to sync.
I've tried to make new albums, which iTunes "sees" the names, but there are "0 photos" available to sync.
I've also tried to sync with a folder (file system) which works just fine.
I can not paste photos from my photos file. If I start a blank file I can paste anything photos want from the web in as many layers as I want. If I try to paste a photo from my own photos file it becomes the back ground by itself. I don't know how to stop this. Using photoshop elements 11.
