How do I import 3500 photos in 12 folders to stay in their 12 folders when imported so I don't have to do that work all over again? I am not familiar with PSE at all so haven't imported my photos (with thumb drive) not knowing what will happen when I do!
View 10 RepliesIs there a way to have the organizer folders set up the same was as Windows Explorer? I have a main folder called Family with sub folders for all the years and in each of the subfolders there could be other subfolders. It wouldn't allow me to click on main folder and get all sub folders. I had to open main folder and then it shows all folders and sub folders separately. They are no longer nested.
Along the same lines, I wanted to create an album of Family with all subfolders, but that doesn't work.that is definitely a short coming which is why I never have used the organizer program, but just PSE for editing.
My problem is that when I'm importing photos from my folders on the computer to my catalog in Lightroom 4, Lightroom doesn't import all photos from my folders. It imports the first 3-4 photos rom my folder.

With all the sort and search functionality, I don't understand the benefit of albums.I name my image folders using a standard naming convention with the date embedded so it makes them rather easy to manage.

When I import photos in Lightroom it automatically creates folders (2011-12-14 for example) and I would like to change the location on my computer for these folders, but I can't find where to do it. It now creates these folders in my regular Pictures folder which gets really messy due to this. How can I change this? And how do I relocate all the excisting folders on my laptop, without having to find all the missing photos afterwards.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had Elements 11 for some time and can't use it as I can't seem to find a way to import an existing folder structure of images. It imports it flat, with every subfolder and parent folder listed on the same level, so my organisation is shot to hell. I'm sure it's me being dumb, (but in fact it's Elements being incredibly un-intuitive) but how to import an existing folder structure with many images, retaining the structure after import? Actually thinking about it, I can barely remember how to import at all, I found it quite difficult to achieve and I think I might have drag and dropped some files?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI tired importing photos from one folder and about 300-400 of them weren't imported (out of about 1,000). I deleted them and tried again. Same thing. On the third try it imported all of them.My thought was maybe it's going to take more time importing images from my folders than learning to use the program. I can't learn the program if it keeps dropping images. I tried another directory of about 3,000 images but it only accepted about 300 of them. No matter how many times I tried, it would only import 300 out of the whole batch. These are good jpg files that all my other programs have no trouble with.

I can import all the Picture files but they do not show up in folders. How can I import and keep current organization? Or, must I reorganize?
Also the correct file name does not appear on the top line when I display photos. It's like something just came in and mixed it all up. It seems to have only happened to recent photos and the older ones I think are ok. I am using PSE 9. I recently had to switch external hard drives and reconnect my catalog to the new hard drive. But that seemed to be OK except for losing most of the tags on my photos. When I tried to import missing files (because they are still on the harddrive) I get the message that the files already exist. However they are not showing in the files they are supposed to be in. I don't know what to do, I have a very large catalog which includes lots of digital scrapbook downloaded files.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a few folders that show no evidence of photos. When I Add Unmanaged Files it says that they are already catalogged or the file format is not recognized. When I open these files in the Editor and save the dited version, they show up in the Organizer, but I cannot get any of the others in this folder to show up. Each time I try to import, it goes through some number of photos, up through 2,00 plus sometimes and then says import failed and I get nothing. It claims the file is the wrong type (only jpgs and psds). I don't know what the stumbling block is or why elements doesn't jut ignore files it can't read and go on to the next.

Recently I downloaded the PSE 9 program from a disk onto my new computer. When I opened it to use I am unable to find under "Organize" the "File", "Edit", "Find", "View", "Window" and "Help" on the upper bar/area. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program but still do not see those options. I'm just begining to learn about PSE 9, so am new to all this.
What am I missing or not doing exactly right that I'm have dificulty trying to view and use the above? I can start to use the program with photos download on my computer, camera or external hard drive.
I recently took a number of photos, which I then put onto my hard-drive in a temporary folder - so I could view them on the monitor using the ordinary windows viewer. A day or so later, I went into Photoshop Elements 11 and imported them into the catalog. I thought that by doing so I would copy them from the temporary folder into the "main" folder - the one where all the photos are imported to when I import them from the camera's memory card. So I then deleted the temporary folder. And then I found that the photos were not actually in the main folder after all. They had remained in the temporary folder, despite being added to the catalog (and where now deleted).
Is there a way to make PSE 11 move or copy the photos from a folder on the hard drive to the "main" folder?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I go to the import dialog in Lightroom 5.3 and I select one of my 3 networked hard drives (hosted on a Mac) I can only see the directory structure of one of my drives in lightroom my Y: Drive (for videos) shows up properly, but when I select the X: drive (for Photos) it doesnt show any folders. When i use windows explorer I can see the structure just fine. I have tried selectring. include subfolders.. makes no difference
I cant also see in the destination, area the folder listing
why cant it see the folders? all three network drives are formated the same way, hosted on the same machine
If i click on the arrow button point right and select other source I can navigate in the popup window to the proper drive / folder but why wont it should up in this winddow
