Photoshop Elements :: Difference Between Folders And Albums
Mar 2, 2013
I imported 4000 photos from iPhoto into pse 11. Now my orgainizer has hundreds of numbered folders with only 10 pics each in them. How do I revert to the named folders I was previously using in iPhoto?
I also don't understand the difference between a folder and an album.
I want to put some of older stuff "away" so I it is not in the way...
New user to PSE11. Is it recommended that ALL photos be in albums or is the idea that photos in albums are a subset of the photos in folders? With all the sort and search functionality, I don't understand the benefit of albums.I name my image folders using a standard naming convention with the date embedded so it makes them rather easy to manage.
what is the difference between folders and collections and can i drag and drop between each to create new ones? i guess the same thing would go for Catalogs too.
Is there a way to have the organizer folders set up the same was as Windows Explorer? I have a main folder called Family with sub folders for all the years and in each of the subfolders there could be other subfolders. It wouldn't allow me to click on main folder and get all sub folders. I had to open main folder and then it shows all folders and sub folders separately. They are no longer nested.
Along the same lines, I wanted to create an album of Family with all subfolders, but that doesn't work.that is definitely a short coming which is why I never have used the organizer program, but just PSE for editing.
I continually receive a message saying that I have an Internet ot firewall problem whenever I attempt to upload photo albums to share using Elements. Neither is factually correct.
How do I recover albums that disappeared? I was in Elements, came back to Organize and thousands of hours of work were gone...no albums at all. Can they be recovered?
I am changing computers and plan to reinstall my elements 9 onto the new one. Before I uninstall the program off the old computer is there a way to save my "albums" and "tags"?
Using Photoshop Elements 10 organizer, all pictures are still present in the organizer, however all of the elements have disappeared? How I can recover the albums?
My computer had to be reformatted with the operating system re-loaded (Vista). I reloaded PE 10 and then moved my saved photos back into the software. the problem is that all of my tags (various family and friends) seem to have disappeared completely from the Organizer as has an album I painstakingly set up. I have all the photos, but a subset of them are not organized into the album I created.
Is there any way to get back my tags (the categories aren't even showing in Organizer and the photos aren't tagged) and to get back my album?
I'm a layman in using PSE (version 8). I've arranged all my photos in sevaral catalogs and I've build several albums. Now I have to move over all this to a new PC, also running a newer version of PSE (10 or 11). On that PC the main folder in which al my pictures reside will probably be on a different drive.
Upgraded from Photoshop Elements v6 to PS Elements v12. v12 does not display captions, tags or albums created in v6. Where did they go? I did back up via v6 and loaded .tly in v12.
After installing Elements 11 I used the convert feature to pull my Albums and Catalog from Elements 9 . I see the Albums from elements 9 listed in my elements 11 organizer but most don't have pictures in them, and some don't have all the pictures that they should. I then try to select the Album photos from an external hard drive to import them but elements 11 tells me that the photos already are in the Catalog and won't download them. I tried changing the name of the Album in Elements 11 to see if I could pull the pictures from the External HD though I get the same message.
I am using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 on a Mac running Mountain Lion. When I opened PSE today and the organizer, I noticed that the Albums all had a "- sign" - sure enough, I looked in each album and they are all empty. I didn't actually notice it until I'd created a new album, dragged in some photos, looked at the photos in the editor and then went back to the organizer where I found that the album I had been working on was empty. The photos themselves all appear to be in the media of the organizer but just not in the albums an longer. or if not, how the heck do I just delete an album?
btw, all my "folders" still show up below the albums.
a PS.. since posting this, all the media has disappeared from my organizer (the albums part) previously if I clicked on the "all media" button, it would show me all my photos but they have now disappeared as well.
a new glitch -- now when I double click on an album - photos appear in it that don't belong there -- in fact in most albums, I'm getting the photos I just imported into my hard drive today and made into a new album!
I noticed it is allowed to install Photoshop Elements on 2 PCs, using just one licence ; of course not using it on both PC at the same time.If I build Albums on PC 1, how do I access the Albums on PC 2.Both PCs are on a unique ethernet network, with shared HDD.
I can save PSE 11 Albums to my hard drive, and it creates a tidy little package that I should be able to link to from within my website (pointing to the index.html file). However, this doesn't work.
I'm using Web Easy as my development tool (because such tools as Dreamweaver and Expression Web are entirely beyond my ken), and it has all the options I'd think necessary to simply "bolt on" PSE Albums.
I can launch the album from Windows explorer without any problem, but when linked to my site, the index.html file seems only to check whether the proper version of Flash is installed. I can't get it to execute past that point.
I'm using PSE-9 organizer to select process and build a photo album that will have 10 or 12 subfolders or chapters. First I can't seem to eliminate the images I've already screened and put into a chapter, and when I select some images for inclusion in a chapter, when I go back to that chapter every image I've looked at is in the folder.
There are no Smart albums displayed. nor is 'create new smart album' displayed as an available option when I click on the + Album button. When I try to create a new album 'last 6 months' (which I know was pre-created as a smart album in a previous version of element) a warning message that this album already exists is displayed, but I can find no way to locate this smart album or create a new smart album? Is my newly downloaded Elements 11 corrupted in some way, or are the smart albums just hidden and need making visible in some way?
Can I have a category album, then an album, then a third step down of sub-albums within the album for, say, grouping separately different ports of call when cruising? My (very old) PhotoshopElements could do this but unfortunately was not compatible with my new Windows 8 pc so I had to get Elements 12.
