I am creating graphics like a scroll and need uneven edges without having to draw over everything (and wobbling) with lasoo tool. Is there another quick way to get an uneven effect?
View 2 RepliesI'm not sure what's going on over at the Adobe Photoshop forum, but I've tried three different browsers and I can't get the Create/reply buttons after I log in. So, since life's too short to put up with whatever they're doing, I'll try here...I do a quick selection, then hit the "Refine Edge" button and make a change to the selection, but my change doesn't "take"...
Take an image, one layer (background), absolutely normal, boring image (for example, a white swan sitting in the blue water). Go in with Quick Select and select PART OF the swan. Leave some areas not selected, and select some water (areas that are selected and shouldn't be). I need to refine my selection. I subtract and add bits of selection with the Quick Select tool, but EVENTUALLY I'm going to have to do a more accurate refinement than the quick selection tool can do.
Hit "Refine Edge" from the tool bar and select "Overlay" for the view mode. I can see what's selected, and know what I'd like to change. I have a red overlay so I have a visual guide to changing things.Go to the "Refine Radius Tool" and paint over an area I want ADDED to my selection (a piece of swan immediately adjacent to my original selection).It runs red, like I'd expect. I release the mouse and a second later, the red goes away, and the selection has NOT been changed. I've tried this several different ways, and I'm unable to refine my selection from the Refine Edge tool...
I looked at Martin Evening's CS5 book, and as near as I can tell, I did exactly what he described..He got a selection, added to the selection, and it worked fine..I figure I've got something configured wrong, or something else goofed up. If I need a complex selection, and do the initial select with the Quick Select tool, HOW do I refine the edges and content of that selection? How SHOULD the "Refine Radius Tool" in "Refine Edge" work?
I just can't make it work.. I need to use QUICK SELECTION TOOL to select part of image and then cut it out and paste it exactly in the same place. But whenever I do it, that tool automatically add feather to the edge so I can't paste it in same place again!
I already turn on hardness to 100% and I don't see any other options I can alter to eliminate it.
Im trying to get used to using Quick Select and Refine edges to mask out objects in my photos.
It works pretty well but Im still having trouble in some spots getting the edge to be a smooth curve.
How do you get the refine edge function to allow you to modify its edge so you can have a perfectly smooth edge?
Ive tried using the Refine Radius Tool and it just doesnt smooth it out completely.
I am trying to reduce the file size on a large number of jpeg photo's for unsertion into Windows Movie Maker. How do I compress the slides in a batch job? Can I do it in Photoshop Elements?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe quick selection tool now doesn't work on the image I'm editing at all. When I try to select only the leaf, the marquee jumps straight to the edge of the photo, effectively selecting the whole of the image and background. Here is a screenshot:

I am making a flyer for my customer, in Page Maker. They are a florist, and I have edited the images from FTD etc to their standards.
I have run into a problem though. I have traditionally put FTD's logo directly on the images while I am editing them. A request was made, that all logo's would be the same size. In order to do this, I need to have the logo as a separate image with an opaque back ground in Page Maker.
I have been unable to paste in any images (.tif) with opaque back grounds. This is probably due to the fact that our printer has us use CMYK. Yet, photoshop can handle CMYK with opaque back grounds just fine, why cant Page Maker?
Is there a quick way to replace/update images in Edge animate? It was simple to do in Flash but I haven't seen the same function in Edge.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I go to crop or move an image close to the edge of the canvas it jumps to the edge. I am having trouble especially with cropping the space between the image and the edge of the canvas the way I want it. turning off this jumping to edge problem I'm having?
Also, I've used CS4 a fair bit and haven't come across this same problem but in PE when I'm editing things like adjusting text on a layer and I'm changing options with hotkeys to resize the text box for eg, Elements seems to jump to the background layer quite alot and then I have to click back on the layer I want to edit between changing tools. Is it something to do with the Esc key?
How can you undo quick fix?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have used PSE 5 happily and greatly liked the auto sharpen feature. I have been forced to upgrade to PSE 11 due to Windows 8 incompatibility with 5.
I am appalled to find that the sharpen feature, including auto, does not work in Quick or Guided modes. The small previews in Quick mode show the correct sharpening effect but clicking on them or using the slider does not transfer to the main image. I either have to go into full unsharp mask, which I hate for quick fixes, or use the 'adjust sharpness' option under 'filter' in Quick or Guided Mode, which increases sharpness by an unspecified amount on each click.

I have a series of pics create din photoshop but I need to turn it nto a simple animation, like stop frame, one still after the other. Can I create it in Photoshop? View 2 Replies View RelatedI have some embedded images in Frame Maker that I need to edit in Photoshop. I copy the image from FM and paste it as a new image into Photoshop. Most of the time its OK, but sometimes it comes up like this, or worse.
It should look like this.
Pasting the image into any other program (i.e. Word, Visio, Paintbrush) works, but it takes more time to fix it, the size is usually off and needs adjusting, and the output is of lower quality.
In FM, the images that seem to do this are JPEG / Frame Vector or PNG / Frame Vector according to the Facets field.
