View 2 Replies View RelatedI've used some colorful gradients in photoshop but recently they are appearing to be partially black (black was never part of the gradient). When I save these images and view them in other paint/viewer programs, the gradient looks fine however in photoshop they look terrible.
One attached image is a gradient as saved from photoshop as a png and you can see the colors are fine. The other attached image is a screenshot of that same image as seen in photoshop. Note the black center which is the problem.
what could be happening here? Nothing on my computer has changed.
I run Windows 7, 64 bit with 16 gigs of ram and an AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series video card (I do wish I had an Nvidia but that's a topic for another thread)
Recently started experiencing a problem in PSE11. When I select an area of an image using the rectangle or lasso tool, the area I've selected immediately fades to black. Modifying the selection area makes it visible again for just a moment, then it fades out again. I know that the underlying image is not affected, as I can apply edits (filters, etc.), and the image returns to normal when I deselect. However, this is making image editing difficult. I'm on a MacBook Pro, running Snow Leopard (10.6.8). I also use Lightroom 4, and have PSE set as the external editor.
I uninstalled and reinstalled PSE, which worked for a while, but the problem has returned.
I couldn't use the crop tool: when I want to crop any area, the big black-colored area occurs and preventing me to see what I want to crop... Before, with my Photoshop, I didn't have a such trouble, I attached a print-screen and it explains more accurate.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have selected a Layer in Gimp and I have a certain selection inside the Layer.
Now I click on tool "Bucket Fill", Mode=Normal, Fill Type=FG Color Fill, Affacted Area=Fill Whole Selection.
Opacity is 100%
The FG color is black.
But when I click into the selected area it gets filled with a transparent black! When I click again it gets more opaque and after another click its fully opaque black.
But why does Gimp fill the area transparent after I first clicked even though Opacity is 100.0??
Is there any way to use the adjustment brush to "paint" an area in black? I see there is the ability to tint areas in other colors but not black. I'd like to be able to isolate my main subject and paint out the background.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a keyboard shortcut to zoom the image area to the image size. Kind of like the shortcut ctrl + 0 but the reverse.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been using Gimp for awhile (love it!) and have always used layer masks with no problems. But for some reason when I create a layer mask by filling in an area with black it isn't 100% opacity. Everything seems to show 100% opacity, but I can see the layers underneath (the mask is maybe at 90%??). If I "show layer mask" it is black where it should be and white where it should be, it doesn't look transparent. All my layers are set to "normal" mode. I'm at a lost as to what setting I must have changed?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe problem is that if one has defined a selected area in an image, using either selection by color or contiguous selection using the 'magic wand' facility, is possible to copy this selection to the Image Map facility of the image, so as to automatically define a set of coordinates as a polygon that can be used for link purposes? Perhaps there is some interim step that is required, or perhaps a special script is required?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had to re-install Photoshop CS-5. Now when I try to crop an image, the image flickers between black & the image. Often remains blacked out till I click on the image. Never did this before. Is there a setting that needs to be changed?
View 10 Replies View RelatedAs in title, in Photoshop CS6 I seem to be getting an awful lot of flashing of the image area. By "flashing" I mean that the area turns completely black for split second fairly often. It seems to be somewhat influenced by my actions, as when i alt-tab out of photoshop with the window still visible, the image area stops flashing.
My PC's specs:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
AMD Radeon HD5770
6 GB RAM
Windows 8
I seem to have found the thing causing the flashing, it seems to only occur when an area of the image is selected.
I am very new to photography and Lightroom 3.4 64 bit. I have a photo of an apple on the table. I want to get the photo black and white (did that already). Now I want the apple it self to remain its own red color. How do I do that?
Also, I have this apple and its reflection is on the knife that is cutting the apple. How can I get that in color too?

View 3 Replies View Relatedway to recover the deleted area of an image? Say for instance you have an image someone sent to you and part of the image has been erased to hide something so no one could see that part of it. Part of it has been erased and it's just white in that area. Can't you recover that area? I don't know if this is the place to make such a post but I figured it could be done in photoshop.

I would like for the image to open or if not open then when I keystroke cmd+0 for 'fit screen' so it only occupies the area of the screen that is free.

background = light-green ( layer1 )
with dark green dots with shadow (layer2)
the dots are faded away from right to left ( Layer3 - gradient lightgreen -> transparant used ) .
so far no problem, or does someone a better methode? Please write me ;-)
on the left, above the backgr, a image of a 'building' layer4 ( no problem )
the result should be an image divide in three hor. strokes ( height 45-70-40 )
light-green ( dots faded away ) -> light-green ( with dots )
light-green ( dots faded away ) -> almost white ( no dots ) ( does have some overlap
where some dots are visible )layer 7
light-green ( dots faded away ) -> light-green ( with dots )
the middle stroke should have the underlaying part of the 'building' image and
background a little unfocused ( like not 100% sharp when you make a photo ) and the
middle stroke should also be a little glossy.
I know it should be not difficult.... for you, but for me, I need a little help.
Should I copy from the 'building' (layer4) the middle part, make this unsharp ( layer5). Then make the .... glossy...with a light sized border?
Or...
when I set black point using windows, the image switches between blank and full image, why?
View 4 Replies View Relatedbasically i have the need to create a wallpaper, i haven't done one in some time, not a decent one anyway. and I'm having some slight trouble.
I Have this image so far:
and i need the background area behind the soldiers to span across the whole canvas, creating a gradient and adding the smoke in will take ages and it probably wont look as good as hoped. my clone brush tool doesn't work because of a thing ubuntu has with the alt key, it stops me defining a source point the healing brush gets nowhere but where the Pixels are already not beyond.
I'm currently contemplating grabbing the end witht the select, duplicating it and blurring it, whether or not it looks daft is another matter.
How do I choose an area of my image and use it as the "color" for my Brush tool or another tool.
Example: I have some grass, and here I use the lasso tools to select a small area to subsequently be able to paint with it.
In PSE11 the clone tool with the aligned option creates a duplicate of the whole image instead of just the brush area.
