Photoshop :: Duplicating Background Area Of Single Image Across Whole Canvas?
Feb 25, 2012
basically i have the need to create a wallpaper, i haven't done one in some time, not a decent one anyway. and I'm having some slight trouble.
I Have this image so far:
and i need the background area behind the soldiers to span across the whole canvas, creating a gradient and adding the smoke in will take ages and it probably wont look as good as hoped. my clone brush tool doesn't work because of a thing ubuntu has with the alt key, it stops me defining a source point the healing brush gets nowhere but where the Pixels are already not beyond.
I'm currently contemplating grabbing the end witht the select, duplicating it and blurring it, whether or not it looks daft is another matter.

I have a photo shop header on my website with a two tone or gradient background.
I want to copy or duplicate this header background and put it as the background of a logo image. I want to put the logo on top of the header, but for them to blend, they both need the same two tone or gradient background.

I wanted to combine two images one needs to be fit to the scale of the background image. So basically I followed the instructions.
Open up your background layer which was 800x600 landscape photo.
Then I imported my other image which was 600x800 portrait photo too. Layers -Import from file. I resized it then copied into a new layer. That was fine.
The problem is as soon as the new image is imported, the background image changes so that it only takes up half of the canvas. So now I've got a white area for half of the canvas. I can't seem to change this.

When I add a image to my background my background shrinks to the top left hand corner of canvas. I have been trying to do this every night for a week now and held out posting until I gave up. Also when I try to paste an image I get a message saying I don't have enough memory (I have 20 GB of memory free). I tried to find Pleska plugin for adding from file but could not find it.

I just got CS5.1 at my job. This must be a preference, but when I adjust the Canvas size, it will constrain the image, rather than cropping the canvas. The Anchor in the Canvas Size menu appears outlined (highlighted?) which indicates that this is something in preferences that I can adjust.

OS: Win 8 Ps: Cs6
I activated Photoshop on my new laptop and set my Preferences the way I like them and then I made a New Document and added a New Layer but when I clicked the New Layer Icon at the bottom of the Layers panel the area behind the canvas turned from a dark grey to transparent and then when I tried to draw a Rectangle shape the entire document became black and when I clicked the New Layer Icon again the black went away and the shape appeared and at the same time the area behind the canvas rotated through the dark grey, black and transparency again ...
to clarify ... at first the area behind the canvas went to transparent from a dark grey but under other circumstances like using the paintbrush, drawing shapes etc. the area behind the canvas will first be dark grey, then black and then transparent.
I tried resetting the Preferences by Alt + Ctrl + Shift at lauch of Ps but this didn't work at all.
The nice man at Adobe did something with my files and when done he placed a Prefs Icon on my desktop.
I wondering if maybe I ought to deactivate and reactivate or just out and out uninstall and reinstall.

I have a small picture, and I'd like to copy it and paste it a few times, with each new copy following a rounded path. Basically, I want ti copy my image and place the copies in a semicircle formation. Another way of looking at it is I want 5 copies of the image in a line, but I want the line to be curved instead of straight.

When I expand a selection or move and image/object around then deselect the edges/parts that end up falling outside of the canvas area get deleted. How do I stop this? When I go move the layer around or resize it I can't because what ever parts landed outside of the canvas area have been deleted. This is on Photoshop CS6, I never had this problem with CS5.

I would like to know how to change the colour of a single layered, single coloured gradient (foreground to transparent) image. There is nothing more to it than that other than I don't want to use the hue/saturation adjustment as it's hard to get a specific colour.

I am making a map for a fantasy book and need to be able to duplicate mountains quickly. Is there a way to take a mountain (already drawn, colored, and cut out) and duplicate it without creating a new layer?
I've tried creating brushes and stamp patterns but neither does the simple task that I'm looking for. I just want to be able to place a full image the way you would place any shape with a paint brush.

Environment: Lightroom 4.1, Windows 7, JPG and RAW images
We often work remotely on a laptop, then come back to the studio and transfer images from a shoot to the main PC for further work. Some adjustments in Lightroom were done to some images in the folder already, as well as rating some of the best images.
It seems the recommended way of copying images from a laptop to the main PC is to use the "Export as Catalog" function with the "Export negative files" option turned on. However, when working with hundreds of files, this process takes a very long time, and also duplicates the images on the same laptop in the export location. This doesn't work well when working with 50GB of files, especially when only a few of them have any Lightroom adjustments anyways.
Is there a way to just copy the entire directory structure over to the main PC (copying files is fairly quick over Gigabit Ethernet), and then export only the metadata for the files (or catalog) over to the main PC so I can keep the adjustments?
In other words, instead of having to do this:
1. Export as Catalog
2. Wait a very long time for the laptop to duplicate all the images and export files
3. Re-import this catalog to my Main catalog
4. Wait a very long time for this to happen
It would be WAY faster to just do this:
1. Copy entire folder structure from laptop to main PC (this is quick)
2. Export metadata from these files only
3. Import metadata to new PC

I bought Adobe creative suit 6 design standard yesterday. when using photoshop, the background canvas flickers and becomes transparent when i do things (zoom, erase, brush)
I have followed the solution of changing the drawing mode to Basic, but it is still an issue and is making photoshop unusable.

Every once in a while I print that has two side-by-side images on one piece of paper. My usual routine is to create a new document that is larger than the two images--say, 10x8 (horizontal) with a transparent background and the same resolution as the two images that I'll be placing on the canvas (say, two 4x3's). Then I simply click on the image I want to move and drag it from its layers palette onto the blank background canvas, and move/edit/size as needed.
when I drag an image over to the blank canvas, it assumes the size of the entire canvas. so I just have the image... enlarged. With no background canvas. when I click on the new image (the one dragged to the canvas), all of the editing commands are grayed out. So I cannot resize or move it.I'm on CS5 (mac)

I use Mtext quite a bit and I am trying to convince others in the office that it's a good thing (versus single line text in long paragraphs). One of their concerns in the shape of the Mtext. For instance, when you use Mtext, you type into a nice rectangle that you can change the size of. What they have to do on occassion is instead of having a nice rectangle of text, they have to make it like a triangle. So in this case, single line text can be adjusted so that the end of the sentences make an angle.
Is there a way to do this using mtext? Or is there an lsp that will work?

I would like to do it with a white background and have it replaceed with something more interesting. The closest I can find is the color replacement tool but that is not quite what I want to do. Any ideas?

I really love making icons on Photoshop. I know it would be better to do it in Illustrator but I don't have that yet, so I'm looking for help specifically in Phosohop.
If I have an image with say, for example three layers, and it's 100x100 pixels then I'll usually put a picture in there or whatever. What I want to know, and I've seen this done by other people, is how I delete a part of this picture completely?
What I mean is that if I have a picture up and I want to delete it so that when I post it on the internet I can see the background in that area. I've tried doing this but still I see nothing but the white background. I want to delete that area COMPLETELY.
Is anyone able to help me?
