Photoshop :: CS6 And Windows 8 - Background Flickering / Image Becoming Black
Nov 20, 2012I recently upgraded to Windows 8 Pro from Windows 7 and I have noticed some graphic glitches in CS6. The background flickering, the image becoming black, etc. After a bit a searching I found some others who were also having the issue. (Here and Here). I have also read the blog post by Jeffrey Tranberry recommending switching to Basic Drawing Mode which does solve the issue, however, by switching to Basic Drawing Mode what am I losing in functionality?
When looking through the PS Preferences I also noticed something interesting. Look at this screenshot: Notice the VRAM? 209310MB! This is one fast video card! Obviously this number is complete incorrect and I wonder if it is tied to the issue above?
Here are my PC Specs: CPU: AMD FX 4100 Quad Core 3.6 Ghz 64bit OS: Windows 8 Pro (Release version - upgraded from Windows 7) RAM: 8GB Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 6670 Video Driver: Catalyst 12.10 (Windows 8 compatible driver) Is this a PS issue or an issue within the video card driver and Windows 8? I have not seen other errors in Windows with other programs. (Granted other programs are not using the GPU like PS does.)

Jul 28, 2013From time to time and more than bearable as all the published pictures need to be manually checked to detect if the probleme occured, LR5 publish a picture with only the watermark applied and not the picture ! Which results in the watermark on a white background as below.

May 21, 2013I have just started to use a Canon 5DMkIII and have used the camera crop feature set to 4:5 thinking that this is just for viewing purposes during composition of the image in the camera. When I came to import my RAW files into LR4, I realise that the images are already cropped and all I can see is the image between the guide lines in the camera. The camera, however still shows the whole image and so I assume that all the data was captured.

Jul 13, 2013When I zoom to 1:1 with LR5 in the Develop module, I get a sharp image almost instantly, but when I then go to full screen (or go to full screen first and then zoom to 1:1), the image is blurry and stays that way, and the only way I can fix that, strangely, is to use the left or right arrow key to go to a neighboring image, and then return, at which point the blurry image comes into sharp focus in a second or so. My system seems to handle everything else in 64-bit LR5 with ease. Any thoughts re what's happening and how to fix it. A great product overall, and I love the full screen feature in other respects.

Nov 20, 2013I'm a huge fan of Full screen mode (pressing F) to review my image large without UI clutter.However often the image in Fullscreen looks quite different from what I see in normal mode within Develop. The full screen image is brighter (by about 0.5EV) and lacks contrast. Exporting the image and reviewing externally shows that it is faithful to the version in normal Develop mode.
Originally I thought this was due to visual perception where the dark border made the full screen version appear brighter, but this isn't the case. Using Lights out mode with all tabs collapsed and then switching to Fullscreen also exhibits the difference. Further I've taken screenshots of both modes, put them in layers in Photoshop and the difference is very noticeable switching between them.
I'm not sure if nobody is noticing or using Fullscreen or if it's somehow unique to me? As it stands, without being able to trust Fullscreen mode showing a faithful image it's rather useless as a review tool.

Dec 25, 2011I'm currently using Lightroom 3 on a 17' Samsung Syncmaster 920NW on two different desktops. The hardware configuration for each machine is also identical, with only a few minor exceptions. However, the images on one machine display drastically differently in Lightroom, as opposed to any other Windows application. I've updated the video drivers for both computers, reinstalled the monitor drivers for both, and have uninstalled/reinstalled Lightroom on both with no success in remedying the discrepancy.

I can change it back once it's set but I'd like to illiminate the extra step. I've tried synching to my old settings but thats not working. It there a way to get it to behave like my older version where it just uses the fill color for text without reverting to black?

Oct 6, 2011I set a snap for ease of use, e.g. if my intended output scale is 1:50 I will set my snap to 25, this makes drawing lines fast and simple.
When I used the break command in previous versions (I skipped 2011) the break would keep the snap on so I could break either side of a line with a perfect unit gap.
In 2012 when I select the first point it disregards the snap and just puts the break wherever I select on the line meaning the gap is not neat. Is there anyway to put this back the way it was?

Mar 14, 2014Was printing 4x6" from LR 5.3 fine. To an Epson 3880. Then went to Page Settings (MAC) changed paper size to 8.5x11". The preview responded with a larger page. I scaled the image up to 8x10 via lightroom cell size. But when I printed to the Letter size paper, LR printed only a close to 4x6" top left corner. This was not a full image like the 4x6. It was just a corner.
Exported to PS and printed fine.Can not figure why the print will not print the full image?
Illustrator :: Exports Nothing Blank Image?
Oct 27, 2013I've got a million years experience with PS, PSP, various CAD programs. This is actually more of a drafting project but that shouldn't matter. I've got separate layers for certain guides and lines and text and that's about it. So I need to send something out for review.
Export or Save As as [ANYTHING], pdf, png, jpg, 'web,' even tried swf, creates a correct -size- image, but the only -content- is the one -last- -layer- that I created which happened to be text.
So just for fun I deleted that last layer and now it exports a blank image of the correct size.
I tried specifically Selecing the items I want exported, result = same blank image.
I don't see any 'flatten' type function as in PS that might crunch everything down to one layer.
I've aparently got something either enabled or disabled that tells it to 'draw nothing.'
I don't see any facility here to include an ai file with this Q. I could put it up somewhere else but I rather doubt they'll allow a '*.ai' so would have to go through the renaming stuff both upload and download. And if they have an 'file inspector' of any kind it'll be disallowed anyway.
Photoshop :: Liquify Not Working - Image Is Just Blank Inside?
Jun 9, 2012All of a sudden, when I try to use Liquify in CS6, I get the following warning:
"Liquify is capable of utilizing the Graphics Processor on RGB files to increase performance. The color mode you have chosen will not utilize the Graphics Processor."
If I click OK and continue, the image is just blank inside Liquify. It used to work just fine. I am in ProPhotoRGB colour space.

Jun 29, 2012I am using MAP3D 2013 and trying to create a raster image file for use in anther document (the document will not accept a dwg or dwf file, only a raster image).
When I use the JPGOUT (or PNGOUT or BMPOUT or TIFOUT) command I can select all of the objects and viewport; there is no problem creating the file. But when I open up the raster image, only the viewport outline and objects in paperspace have come accross; the viewport appears empty.
In MAP, the viewport is turned on and I can see everything as intended.

Jun 24, 2013When I open an image in Photoshop CC 64-bit on my Dell XPS 15 L501x laptop with nVidia 420M GPU selected as graphics processor, the image is blank. If I go to the performance preferences and untick "Use Graphics Processor" the images are shown correctly after closing and reopening image (the same issue occurs with Basic, Normal and Advanced drawing mode selected).
I assume that Photoshop will run slower not using the graphics processor, so would like to sort it so I can use it to improve performance. If I remember correctly, on the trial version of CS5.1 on the same laptop, I just disabled OpenGL and the images were displayed fine. Is there any way to just disable OpenGL in Photoshop CC 64-bit (or resolve this another way)?
