Lightroom :: Isolate Portion Of Image And Resize It - Full Frame Sensor
Jun 7, 2013I am attempting to isolate a portion of the image and then resize it so that portion is larger. I shoot worth a full frame sensor.

View 2 RepliesI have just started to use a Canon 5DMkIII and have used the camera crop feature set to 4:5 thinking that this is just for viewing purposes during composition of the image in the camera. When I came to import my RAW files into LR4, I realise that the images are already cropped and all I can see is the image between the guide lines in the camera. The camera, however still shows the whole image and so I assume that all the data was captured.
How to get the full frame image in LR?
How do I resize a selected portion of an image?
I would assume that the purpose of a 'selection' tool is to apply edits, effects, and changes to a selected portion of an image without effecting the entire image. But when I select part of my project and go up to the 'image' menu and try to resize just that part, it resizes the whole project. Is there any way I can select something and change its size?
Is there any way to isolate an item in a list for a filter? I'm setting a filter for SSGET and know that I can use the dotted pairs and I know I can use logical comparisions but what I really want to do is filter a single varialbe in the DXF group 10. For example, I'd like to only get entities with a specific Z value in DXF 10. Or even better to filter for a specified range of Y value or X value in DXF 10. If I could write something like (cons 10 (list * * 8.0)) where the asterisks were wild cards, that would do it but I'm not aware of such a wildcard. Is there any way to isolate a portion of DXF 10 in the filter?

I downloaded LR 4.1 RC today. Some of my lenses are not profiled in LR so I then downloaded Lens Profile Downloader Preview 3 to see if there are any profiles available for download. For some lenses I found profiles, but they were not done on the same body that I have (same sensor size though). Can I use profiles for lenses if they are for a camera body that is different than mine, but still the same sensor size? My understanding is that wiht a lens profile LR will automatically correct distortion, vignetting, and CA. Will that work if my body is different than the body used to profile the lens?

View 2 Replies View RelatedUltimately I want to delete a bunch of Layers by selecting them using a portion of their name. Is there anything in cad that allows you to specifically select layers using only a portion of the layer name?
Based on AutoCAD Layer Standards: Users label layers with a code; for example: A-ANNO-TEXT
A - Stands for the Architectural Category the layer falls into
ANNO - Stands for Annotation
TEXT - Type of Annotation
I want to use the Layer Delete (-LAYDEL) command to delete all layers that begin with A-ANNO. In the Layer Manager (-LAYER) I am able to select specific layers using a " * " placed before and/or after " A-ANNO " to include all layers with that in its name.
When I write a script however (-LAYDEL); cad will ask me for the layer name, but will not allow me to use the *A-ANNO* to include all layers with that name: A-ANNO-TEXT, A-ANNO-GLAZ, A-ANNO-WALL, etc...
Is there anything in cad that allows you to specifically select layers using only a portion of the layer name??? I have to "taylor" drawings that I receive from companies who's layers may vary.
My script is in basic (NON LISP) language:
-LAYDEL
N
A-GENM
N
A-DOOR
N
A-DOOR-FRAM
N
A-DOOR-GLAZ
N
Y
I don't find a way to isolate and undo isolate an occurrence in Assembly, looking for the right code in VB.

A workaround is to use a different resize constraint, for example "Resize to fit"=Long Edge. This works as usual.
When I zoom to 1:1 with LR5 in the Develop module, I get a sharp image almost instantly, but when I then go to full screen (or go to full screen first and then zoom to 1:1), the image is blurry and stays that way, and the only way I can fix that, strangely, is to use the left or right arrow key to go to a neighboring image, and then return, at which point the blurry image comes into sharp focus in a second or so. My system seems to handle everything else in 64-bit LR5 with ease. Any thoughts re what's happening and how to fix it. A great product overall, and I love the full screen feature in other respects.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm a huge fan of Full screen mode (pressing F) to review my image large without UI clutter. However often the image in Fullscreen looks quite different from what I see in normal mode within Develop. The full screen image is brighter (by about 0.5EV) and lacks contrast. Exporting the image and reviewing externally shows that it is faithful to the version in normal Develop mode.
Originally I thought this was due to visual perception where the dark border made the full screen version appear brighter, but this isn't the case. Using Lights out mode with all tabs collapsed and then switching to Fullscreen also exhibits the difference. Further I've taken screenshots of both modes, put them in layers in Photoshop and the difference is very noticeable switching between them.
I'm not sure if nobody is noticing or using Fullscreen or if it's somehow unique to me? As it stands, without being able to trust Fullscreen mode showing a faithful image it's rather useless as a review tool.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using Photoshop Elements 6.0. I've shot an image which is horizontal, and am an trying to get the image to be full frame (square). I need to have the entire image shown so I know this needs to have a border on the top and bottom of the image. My image background is black so the border needs to be black to blend in; similar to a letter box format on a Cinemascope ratio move. how I can get this border so that I can make a rectangular image look square?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Photo Paint 9 to edit photos I took of some watercolors I did. Many of the photos are of a single animal on a white background (similar to the California state flag). When I printed many of these out they had a greenish tint (not a printer problem) so I went to Image--Adjust--Color Balance.... I adjusted the cursor on the Magenta/Green bar to -15 (towards Magenta) and hit ok. The problem is, now when I print, the image is ok but the background which I want to be pure white now has a pinkish (magenta?) tint to it.
Is there any way to isolate the image and get the background pure white again?
So when I unlug my MacBook Pro from my Cinema Display, the bottom of the app chrome (application frame and palettes) on the MacBook's display cannot be adjusted. At all. Impossible to grab them with the mouse and readjust for the new screen.
I've tried restarting Photoshop CC. Restarting my Mac. Nothing. Wouldn't there be an option to resize to the current display? Shouldn't this be automatic?
The only thing that seems to work is turning off the Application Frame, and using PS in this mode.
Why don't my photos have strong enough resolution to be printed? Even 4x6. I'm shooting with Canon70d. Would this be corrected by a setting on my camera, or is there an option in Lightroom that will allow me to resize my image in order to print a crisp and clear 8x10.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to export an animated gif with 52 frames - I'm using the timeline in CS6, it's exported correctly in the past but when I try and save for web only a seemingly arbitrary number of rames appear in the animation. With no clear route to rectify this, I've tried to affect the outcome by simply moving things around on the timeline.
I've had a variety of frame ranges (and frames) numbering between 2 and 6 frames, far off my 52 target. It's a simple image and equally simple transition to keep filesize down
I have a PNG image with only one layer as a start point. It has a faded map on it.
I have a second PNG image with a hex grid on it. I do colour to Alpha to establish transparency on the hex grid for white filled hexes (others are not filled with white).
Now, I wish to overlay a portion of the first image with the faded map with the non-transparent part of the second image.
So I select by colour (for the hexes not filled with white) on the second image (the overlay) and I then paste to the first image (after creating a transparency layer and selecting it to receive the overlay).
I see the desired overlay section (minus any transparent stuff as expected), however it is centered over the map in the first image, not where I want it to be. It is a floating selection and must be anchored. So I select the anchor icon in the layer dialog and I think I anchor it into the transparency layer on the first image (that's what I'm trying to do anyway).
And then my problem:
I want to move the thing I just pasted in to the right place with respect to the underlying faded map. I attempt to use the move tool, but all I move is the background map (pretty much the opposite of what I want).
Nothing I do seems to let me reselect the pasted-in overlay so that I can move it.
Why I can't ever reposition the pasted in overlay? It should be in the transparency layer I created but even if I select all, I don't seem to be able to move anything other than the background image.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn previous versions I have been able to resize the canvas and then resize the image. For example resize the canvas to 250px x 250 px. Then resize the image to the same.
Here is the process I am using:
Duplicate the layer and then hide it. Resize the canvas (Image > Canvas Size) to 250px x 250 px. Un-hide the layer and then resize the image (Image > Image Size). When I go into Image>Image Size it says that the image is already 250px x 250px. However if I try to transform the scale the image is the original size and not 250px x 250px
The reason for needing this is I resize image size (in bulk) and the canvas size using the batch process (file>automate>batch) and actions. I loaded the actions file I used in previous versions, but that did not work correctly. I then went in to do this manually and got the same results.
Any way to batch rename a folder full of image files to reflect a specific column in an excel sheet? I have a client who I am shooting product photography for, but I need to rename these images to reflect the part number of each item. These are not in any sequential order.
Either using LR5, CS6 or Bridge.
