Photoshop :: Dell XPS 15 L501x Laptop With CC 64bit ( Blank Image)
Jun 24, 2013
When I open an image in Photoshop CC 64-bit on my Dell XPS 15 L501x laptop with nVidia 420M GPU selected as graphics processor, the image is blank. If I go to the performance preferences and untick "Use Graphics Processor" the images are shown correctly after closing and reopening image (the same issue occurs with Basic, Normal and Advanced drawing mode selected).
I assume that Photoshop will run slower not using the graphics processor, so would like to sort it so I can use it to improve performance. If I remember correctly, on the trial version of CS5.1 on the same laptop, I just disabled OpenGL and the images were displayed fine. Is there any way to just disable OpenGL in Photoshop CC 64-bit (or resolve this another way)?
Problems with 3D objects. PS freezes every time I create a 3D object and try to come out of 3D mode or save the file.
Updating driver for ATI Mobility Radeon HD560V display adapter.AMD website auto-suggested and installed HD 4650 (?) driver. That made PS work a bit better, but other stuff started freezing (Chrome, Bridge)Went to Dell site and reinstalled HD 560V. Had to uninstall and reinstall Catalyst Control Centre.

General refresh issues, lag, panels done't minimise maximise smoothly, can't drag layers smoothly from one document tab to another. When i try and close the document tabs they take ages to close. When i open nvidia control panel in tandem to having photoshop open to see whats going on the animated logo jitters and does not rotate smoothly when i move my mouse over it...
What i have done to try and solve the issues. -----------------------------------------------
Uninstalled and re installed numerous times.
Uninstalled and re installed Dell's nvidia driver and other drivers from laptopvideo2go.
I would like to try Photoshop for digital art. I downloaded the 30 day trial version of Adobe Illustrator CS 6 about three days ago and noticed immediately that touching my laptop’s touch screen will only allow me to pan using the Hand Tool in Photoshop. I have never had this problem in Adobe Illustrator, as using the touch screen acts just as if I were clicking the left mouse button and dragging the cursor around the screen. I have a Dell XPS 15 - L502X laptop with an integrated touch screen (the entire 15” screen is Multi-touch sensitive). It is running N-Trig DuoSense Digitizer with the latest drivers. Is there some simple setting change that can be done within Photoshop CS6 to make it recognize a touch screen input as a normal left click and thus allow me to draw on it using the pen, pencil, or paintbrush tool? I find it quite odd that I have no problems with this in Illustrator CS6. Could it be that this tablet-like touch screen input is restricted on the trial version?
Here is a link to a youtube video that I put up showing the problem. The first program shown in the video is Adobe Illustrator CS6 using the Paintbrush tool. The second program shown is Adobe Photosop CS6 using the pencil tool. I draw the line in Ps using the mouse pad and then attempt to draw (still using the pencil tool) on the touch screen yielding only scrolling with the hand tool.

Here's my system specs copy pasted right from PhotoShop.

I installed PS CS6 on my desktop and it opens in seconds, on my 64bit 12 gb ram laptop, it takes over 3 minutes. I tried resetting preferences and disk cache location. CS 5.5 opens in seconds on the same machine. Just installed two days ago, no plug-ins, happened on very first launch after installing.
I cannot get thumbnails to display the image in library mode. I can click on develop on a particular blank thumbnail (blank thumbnails are dislayed and they are numbered).
What settings do I change? I am using an i7 laptop with 16gb ram. Wins 7.
every time I use my Dell Printer and go into scanning and select 'scan to' and select Gimp as the image program. Gimp freezes for eternity on Gimp Startup and I HAVE to 'end process'!!! end task DOES NOT work!! how do I fix this while scanning directly into Gimp?
Just installed CS6 on my new workstation and Photoshop; it freezes upon opening.Every other program I have installed has worked flawlessly, including the rest of the CS6 Suite and Lightroom 5.Both Windows and the Adobe Suite have all available updates already installed.Computer is a new HP Z420 Xeon Workstation, Windows 7 Pro 64bit, 16GB Ram.
In Photoshop CS6 (64bit), when using the brush tool (with a brush with pressure sensitivity activated), I quite often get a line drawn at the max width selected, as if there was no pressure sensitivity. Everything goes back to normal after I start drawing another line, and happens again after a few lines. It's quite random.
I don't have this problem in any other software (Illustrator CS6 64bit, Painter XII, Sketchbook Pro, Zbrush, ...). I have already checked and I've found some other users on other forums with the same problem.
One example, with a picture of the problem: [URL] Another one, exact same problem: [URL] Some of those users seem to have solved their problem by installing an old driver (6.1.5r3), but they had that problem with Intuos TABLETS in the first place, not a Cintiq 24HD... I have tried that, but unfortunately the driver is not compatible with the Cintiq 24HD.
To test this out: I've been able to reproduce the problem 90% of the times I've tried. if I keep the pen at 1 inch from the display so that it's still recognized by the screen but it's not drawing, then wiggle it a bit, and then I slowly move to the screen and tap it (as if I was starting a line with very low pressure), the problem appears and it makes a large dot, as if there was no pressure sensitivity. As I said the test doesn't work every time, but almost.
This is an image of what happens when I try and make dots in Photoshop. These are done trying to push the pen with the same (low) pressure. The big ones are from when the issue appears: [URL]
I have tried the pressure test in the Wacom utility software and it seems to work fine, it never jump to full even when I try the method I've just described. In the diagnostic page of the Wacom utility software the pressure is always correct, even when in Photoshop there's the brush sensitivity issue.
note: I've already tried to completely re-install my computer + the Adobe software + the lastest wacom driver for my Cintiq 24HD, and the problem is still the same.
My Photoshop 6 (64bit) starts but will not open an image and just hangs, you can't even shut it down.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled (with all updates) Photoshop 6 completely and they same thing happens. Photoshop 32bit works perfectly so I know it isn't the computer.
Both are referencing cooltype.dll. I ran Font Doctor on all system and non-system fonts and found no errors. Booted without Extensis Suitcase loading. Nothing works. All 32 bit programs work fine.
I removed my nVidia Display drivers in safe mode and reinstalled, the problem persist. I reset my PS settings... same problem. It works only in Photoshop 32bits.
On Windows 7, R-clicking on an image shows "Open With" CS6 but only 64 bit opens. How to also have 32bit as a choice? Since the majority of my plugins only work on 32bit I find using 64bit unfortunately useless. Hence I wold like to know if it is possible to right-click on asn image with explorer and have it open the 32bit version.
All of a sudden, when I try to use Liquify in CS6, I get the following warning:
"Liquify is capable of utilizing the Graphics Processor on RGB files to increase performance. The color mode you have chosen will not utilize the Graphics Processor."
If I click OK and continue, the image is just blank inside Liquify. It used to work just fine. I am in ProPhotoRGB colour space.
I am wondering how to resize an image using the points around the image when it is on a blank file. (I have multiple pictures on a page I've created - for a scrapbook) Currently, when I use the middle points on an image, it stretches the picture and distorts it. How do I get it so that when I use these points it doesn't stretch the image, but crops it to a different size. (And by doing this, parts of the image is lost, but thats ok)
resize this image into a resolution of 1280x768 (height = 1280px, width = 768px) and keep the blank background. I know the original 'X' is in a square shape so I'm unsure if it can be put into this vertical rectangle shape. I want the four coloured bars to continue into each of the corners and also do another copy with a sort of glossy reflective look applied to the colours if possible. Maybe also as the image is being enlarged, make the bars slightly wider so they don't look long and skinny
I've got two Dell 2408WFP 24" displays due to arrive Monday and I was wondering if any of you owners out there have any suggestions for me. I understand I'll have to calibrate these puppies and definitely bring down the brightness.
Do you have any other comments or suggestions for a new owner and it's use with Photoshop?
When I try to crop a photomerge image all the layer boxes go blank, the box that should have the cropped image has a teeny paint brush overlaying a teeny canvas, no image.
Recently upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 and upon reinstalling my Dell AIO printer, it cannot find already installed Photoshop 7 software. No problem with Vista.
I have a Dell 1907 FP Flat Panel Monitor. The controls include a 'Brightness' adjustment. I am trying to set the monitor so that I have a luminance of between 100 and 120 cd/m2. I am using a Spyder 3 Pro display calibration device to set the luminance but the device does not measure luminance. Can anyone tell me what Brightness level my monitor should be set at to achieve a luminance of 100-120 cd/m2?
I recently changed pc and monitor causing a damn problem with those color spaces! My monitor is a Dell u2412m and by default it's setted on:
Now when I open a RAW file with ACR and choose sRGB as color space the result is this:As you can see, most of the photo presents black shadows. If I save the file and I open it with windows image it's perfect. Indeed, if I choose ProPhoto for monitor and for the photo the visualization is fine:
I must change the color space in sRGB or even RGB before save the final image so I really would like to se a real preview of it in photoshop instead of saving it first. So the problem occurs when I save to RGB (less artifacts) and sRGB (lots of artifacts!). I can't understand this because I'm using the same color space as default for my monitor.
The pc configuration is:Intel i7 3770 Ati HD7870 driver Ati 12.11 beta RAM 16gb
i´m stuck with calibrating my Dell U2711(wide gamut) on Windows7, CS6 i used it with the integrated Adobe RGB preset and a standard profile. After calibration with i1displayPro (monitor in custom preset, slight changes to reach D65 whitepoint) i got a solid ICC2 profile which seems to fill the Adobe RGB space quite well (compared them in 3D).
The point where i can't get any further is the color rendering in PS and ACR, the colors are limited to a sRGB like saturation level. I´ve set my Creative Suite Color settings to aRGB, disabled Softproofing in PS.Here is what red (255,0,0) looks like: left: proofing OFF
I recently bought an Eizo CG301 and think it's awesome. I also have a Dell 2407 and run them both in a dual monitor setup.
I produce hi res digital fine art prints and I'm having issues with my colour setup......
This is the problem. Eizo (100cd,6500k,2.2gamma) is calibrated using an eye one display and saved in CAL mode....the dell(180cd ( the lowest it will go without lowering colour values), 6500k,2.2gamma) is calibrated using the same device and is using the profile via vista colour management.
Basically the Eizo shows 255,0,0 as a mid red/orange and the dell shows the same colour as a pure red - this is backed up with a printout from my epson 3800 where the reds are red and not orange. As I'm producing professional output it's essential for me to know which monitor is correct - do I trust the Eizo as it's hardware calibrated?
all other colours seem fine and my Eizo's deltaE values are between 0.2 - 1.3 (0.4 average)which is quite good....
can anyone confirm if 255,0,0 is a mid red/orange and not pure red.
I am using Windows 7 and recently installed Photoshop Elements 10. If the Dell 3000cn is set as my default printer, as soon as I click on print, I receive the mssage I need to install a printer.
I have verified that I have the latest Dell driver. If another printer is the default, I can print one image to the Dell printer. If I try to print a second image or change certain prnter settings, such as setting a custom size, PS Elements just show the waitng icon and never moves on so it has stoped working and I receive the following dialog box from Windows.
