Maya :: Missing Objects After Importing?
Mar 2, 2012i got a problem that my imported objects and after I combine them with new objects together then I saved them, later on I opened my scene, my objects are gone.

View 5 Replies View Relatedi have 3dsImport.mll installed and active in the plug-in manager, but 3ds files are not importing. a transform node shows in the outliner, but there isnt actually any data/geometry to see or select or scale etc etc. i am working with Maya 2100 x64 MAC.

.STEP
.STL
.IGS
.SLDPRT
with most of the files being in .STEP and .SLDPRT format.
What is the best way to import these into maya 2014 OSX?
I'm trying to import an audio file (.AIFF) into maya, and every time I drag it onto the time slider or import it using the import settings, it gives me and error saying "file not found".

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have maya 2012 and autocad 2013. Does direct connect 2011 allow you to import autocad dwg files into maya? If not, has Autodesk updated direct connect as a maya/autocad plug in so we can use dwgs between the two programs? I can't get support to answer this, they keep saying "we monitor the forums, ask there." So, here goes! Autodesk ought to take a lesson from zbrush, who imports/exports with one button now!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI’m using mud box 2013 and maya 2013, I’m trying to send a model/mesh through from maya to mud box by clicking the mesh and then file > send to mud box > send as new scene. This seems to work fine I get a little connected to mud box dialogue box in the bottom right corner and mud box begins to open, when it finally opens the scene inside of mud box is empty. Its as if its imported nothing.

1) Panels > Saved Layouts > Persp/UV Texture Editor
2) Select object, RMB > Assign new material > Lambert
3) Attributes Editor > Common Material Attributes > Color > Map button > Checkered
When I do this with a default Maya sphere, it works just fine.
However when I attempt this with a mesh that I have imported from Blender, it no longer works (it turns white instead of checkered textured).
When I import an object with a SSS shader into my scene, it will randomly turn black and have no shader at all. If I go to hypershade and to reassign the sss shader, it has no effect. How can I import an object with SSS?
View 4 Replies View Relatedi'm new in autodesk maya's world, so i'm having some problems with it, my class is working in a 3d dragon, we started with dragon's body, but, now, we are working in its head, so i started importing images into the viewport, but i cannot move them well, because there's a kind of ghost image with them (i put two images, and there's a ghost image for each one) and when i put them in perspective view to see where i want, they often desappear, and i cannot work with them, i tried deleting history by type, and center each one's pivot, but it didn't work.

I have installed the new Beta for Lightroom 4. It is unable to use or import from the existing LR3 catalog so I've had to create a new one.
Aalthough the most recent adjustments have been applied, I've lost the history and also attributes such as flags and ratings. This also happens when in LR3 I've imported images from aother LR catalog.
No one seems to understand what I mean but I can't explain it any more clearly!
I would like to find a way to restore the history or record of adjustments for each image. They must be saved somewhere as LR3 had them.
I want to import a plug-in list of Keywords into Ligtroom 4. However - as described in Lightroom support - in Library under Metadata, I do not see the option for "Importing Keywords." I do see Keywording and Keywrod List, but there does not appear to be anywhere here to add an entire list with heirarchy levels. What am I missing?

I am able to import these folders on an individual basis which is a time consuming process to say the least!! Is there any way to import them all en bloc.

I have read that the 3d import is no longer available from CS6 onwards so I have downloaded Cinema 4D lite plugin for affer effects. I have managed to get the photoshop 3d object into Cinema 4d as I would expect but now I am struggling to find a way to export that object and import it into After Effects?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have installed Maya 2014 SP4 at home, this is a fresh install and was just trying to see if there are any problems with the new SP before I install it at work.
But for some reason, the install went OK, but when I looked under the Render settings there is no MentalRay, and then looking in the Plugins list, there are none there either?
I have some Inventor models with decals applied in Inventor. However, when these models are imported into Showcase, the decals are missing.
I just can't find any info about this in Showcase or on Google.
So I have done many hours of animation in flash over the years. And what I am trying to do is import some of the characters I have created in Flash into Illustrator and convert them to PSD. This is for a print project that I am working on. The reason I want to get the images to photoshop is so I can add some effects and coloring techniques I simply can not do in Illustator or Flash.Here is the method I am using.
1) Select the vector image in Flash and Export Selection to Adobe FXG.
2) Open FXG in Illustartor
3) Export to PSD
4) Open in Photoshop and Color.
The problem I am having is the line art that was drawn with the pencil tool in Flash simply vanishes when imported to Illustartor. Also a lot of the line art that was draw with the pencil tool is gradient filled or the image I am trying to export may have multiple color Pencil Lines. So just trying to outline the images in AI does not provide the look or effect I want.
So I was just importing all my xmas shots yesterday, and I kinda did it wrong in lightroom...as a result, the folder I created is now the "main folder" i.e the one that has all my photos under it, as subfolders and as a result, ALL my photos has now gone offline or missing.
The new folder I created sits on top of the hieracy, and I dont want that of course, I want it under my "2011" folder, which was the main... I cant move the new folder called "xmas 2011" and If i try to delete it, it says do you want to delete 2200 pictures, which is everything I have under the original "2011" folder...
Im pretty new to lightroom, and the file handling and renaming of libery's seems very confusing, but this is really bad and its ALL my pictures being listed as missing of offline
I tried to open via backup, but the lastest backup I can find is from Aug 2011, which I know isnt true, as I back up everytime I have used lightroom, but I cant find any other back ups !!
I'm looking to import a rig into a maya scene but every time I do the skeleton joints appear and it's hard to click on the controls. I have opened up the rig file and it's completely fine with no skeleton showing. Why is this happening?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to notify adobe that CS6's 3d features currently have a fatal flaw in regards to obj's in that if you import an obj that had its uv's unwrapped in any other program (in my case, Maya 2012 and Headus UV Layout) then photoshop will split the model along the uv seams causing the UV seams to become unpaintable and also causing a lot of extra work when you reimport the obj into any other program because then all of the edges need to be reattached.
When obj's are your only choice, this makes photoshop CS6 unusable for any real texture editing.
When attempting to apply a Smoke Dynamic to a piece of geometry I am getting an error about missing a spritesmoke.mel.
Here is the log read out.

I have placed a few lights in my scene. But I am unable to see and select the lights in my Top Viewport. It's beginning to slow my work process.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAbout 1 in 3 times I start up Maya 2012, some of the shelves are either missing or are empty. For example, sometimes the "Polygons" shelf is completely missing, or else it is there but its contents are empty. If I close Maya and restart it, then they shelves will load up fine. Is there any fix to this?
I delete my preferences and start with new ones. This is a very fresh install, and I also had this problem with a previous install of 2012. And it does load up correctly sometimes so the preferences should be correct...right?
1. I click on Maya to open. Icon bounces and loads.
2. Maya loading window appears.
3. Maya finishes loading and 1 minute startup movies appears.
4. Menu bar for Maya appears at top of screen.
5. Nothing else appears.
6. See attached pic. Notice the menus bar at top and no animation windows on desktop
TROUBLESHOOTING I HAVE TRIED:
1. I reinstalled Maya 2014 with SP3 and reactivated the licensing.
2. Restarted computer several times.
3. Tried opening old scenes.
4. Tried opening new
COMPUTER INFO:
MacBook Pro 15 Inch 1TB flash harddrive with turbo boost to 3.8.
SOFTWARE INFO:
Running Maya 2014 SP3 package.
I've noticed what I think is an inconsistency with regards to naming objects.
Say when you create a cube, then straight away duplicate it, the new object would be suffixed with another number.
If you parent those objects first then rename them to have the same name, you can use the same name.
When you unparent the objects, the names will again be suffixed with a "unique" number.
Is this the correct behaviour? Or is it a bug?
I just downloaded de Maya 2013 bonus tools, and when I use the auto unwrap tool, the buttons that used to cut, select, continue even cancel dont show; but the "click area" still works, the problem is to find it
In Maya 2012, this plugin works fine unfortunately I dont have access to that version anymore.
