I want to import a plug-in list of Keywords into Ligtroom 4. However - as described in Lightroom support - in Library under Metadata, I do not see the option for "Importing Keywords." I do see Keywording and Keywrod List, but there does not appear to be anywhere here to add an entire list with heirarchy levels. What am I missing?
View 4 RepliesI'm creating a catalog with images from a group of photographers. Their image files already include metadata. I want that metadata to be imported with the images so I have the keywords, captions and other info that the photographers have already added to them.

add keywords & metadata to an extremely large group of photos in Lightroom 4. The intern will have their own workstation so we'll be passing files back and forth. I need to add their work to mine, keeping all of the keyword/metadata work tied to the virtual photos which already have some work done to them (some keywords, metatdata and photo enhancements already in place on some photos).

View 2 Replies View RelatedSometimes I assign keywords for DNG files in Adobe Bridge CS5. Then I import into LR to do some color correction. Then I would export as JPG for the client. In LR2, the keywords would show up fine. For example, if I used "Caucasian" it would just show up in LR2 as "Caucasian". Now, in LR4, when I import (and export), I get Caucasian > Ethnic. The exported JPG would have "Caucasian" and "ethnic". I only want "Caucasian." Not "Ethnic." Is there a way to cut off the "parent" KW in LR4 like was done in LR2?"

Importing keyword hierarchy from notepad txt document not working as in Lightroom 3...
In Lightroom 3 when write hierarchy in notepad everything in {...} does not display in Lightroom Keyword list but is automatically exported as keyword tag. This is not the case in Lightroom 4.
On below test hierarchy which i have included as a screen cut
When you tick on Giant Golden Mole in Lightroom 3 for instance, the latin name (Chrysospalax trevelyani) as well as the order (Afrosoricida) and family (Chrysochloridae) is automatically tagged. Only the latin name appears though in Lightroom 4 !!
When i try to upgrade to LR5 I see the keywords are missing. Eevn when I import them again, no keywords...With about 275.000 images keyworded in LR3-4...
View 6 Replies View RelatedHaving a D100 camera and keywords filled out in Nikon View IPTC... would importing into Lightroom show up my keywords and captions? I neglected to add that I would not be importing them from my computer HD, but from a external HD. All my past work was done on a Gateway PC. Lightroom will probably be put on a new Mac. I also have all these photos archived on CDs. Will this change things? Will my keywords and captions still show up upon import? If importing from an external HD blocks this, what can I do, what program can I add that will get my metadata across?

I have just transferred all my photos from an PC (microsoft) to an iMac. At the same time I upgraded from elements 5 to version 11. Before doing the transfer I saved all the tags to the metadata. On the iMac both the tags and the keywords in the metadata are all in place but when I do a search on a particular tag, only a small number of the relevant photos (the most recent) are found.

As soon as I apply a keyword to images they instantly disappear from the collection. This is alright when I only want to apply a single keyword, but how do I stop it happening when I want to apply multiple keywords to the same image(s)?

I have installed the new Beta for Lightroom 4. It is unable to use or import from the existing LR3 catalog so I've had to create a new one.
Aalthough the most recent adjustments have been applied, I've lost the history and also attributes such as flags and ratings. This also happens when in LR3 I've imported images from aother LR catalog.
No one seems to understand what I mean but I can't explain it any more clearly!
I would like to find a way to restore the history or record of adjustments for each image. They must be saved somewhere as LR3 had them.
I have reinstalled Lightroom 5.3 after a clean restart. All my folders on the left hand side have question marks against them. I am able to import these folders on an individual basis which is a time consuming process to say the least!! Is there any way to import them all en bloc.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I was just importing all my xmas shots yesterday, and I kinda did it wrong in lightroom...as a result, the folder I created is now the "main folder" i.e the one that has all my photos under it, as subfolders and as a result, ALL my photos has now gone offline or missing.
The new folder I created sits on top of the hieracy, and I dont want that of course, I want it under my "2011" folder, which was the main... I cant move the new folder called "xmas 2011" and If i try to delete it, it says do you want to delete 2200 pictures, which is everything I have under the original "2011" folder...

I tried to open via backup, but the lastest backup I can find is from Aug 2011, which I know isnt true, as I back up everytime I have used lightroom, but I cant find any other back ups !!
I am using Lightroom 4.4 on a 2013 Macbook Air OS 10.8.4.
I cannot see the Switch enables auto sync on the Metadata sync button. Its currently visible on another machine a MacPro with Lightroom v4.3. I find this useful to be bale quickly enable and disable the syncing of metadata. Has this been dropped in v4.4 or have I missed a prefs setting somewhere?
As far as I can tell, Copy Metadata and Synchonize Metadata do the same thing. Is there a difference in what they do?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just installed a new computer when my old one died. I had everything backed up and have managed to successfully restore my lightroom catalogue.
I can see all my photos and all the adjustment history and I can see my library of keywords. However, none of my photos show the key words that I previously assigned to them.
I am not sure whether there is a file that I need to restore from the backup somewhere.
I have some Inventor models with decals applied in Inventor. However, when these models are imported into Showcase, the decals are missing.
I just can't find any info about this in Showcase or on Google.
