Lightroom :: Importing Keywords Hierarchy From Notepad

May 18, 2012

Logging Lightroom 4 Issue: Importing Keywords Issue

Importing keyword hierarchy from notepad txt document not working as in Lightroom 3...

In Lightroom 3 when write hierarchy in notepad everything in {...} does not display in Lightroom Keyword list but is automatically exported as keyword tag. This is not the case in Lightroom 4.

On below test hierarchy which i have included as a screen cut

When you tick on Giant Golden Mole in Lightroom 3 for instance, the latin name (Chrysospalax trevelyani) as well as the order (Afrosoricida) and family (Chrysochloridae) is automatically tagged. Only the latin name appears though in Lightroom 4 !!

Lightroom :: Keywords Not Staying In Hierarchy During Exports?

Mar 17, 2014

With every version of Lightroom including LR5.3, I've continually had a problem with keywords moving out of order in my keyword hierarchy every time I export images  to another PC for example or another folder on the same PC.  It makes a mess of my keyword list as well as creates more work putting them all back in place.

Lightroom :: How To Turn Off Parent Keywords When Importing To LR4

Jun 14, 2013

Sometimes I assign keywords for DNG files in Adobe Bridge CS5. Then I import into LR to do some color correction. Then I would export as JPG for the client. In LR2, the keywords would show up fine. For example, if I used "Caucasian" it would just show up in LR2 as "Caucasian". Now, in LR4, when I import (and export), I get Caucasian > Ethnic. The exported JPG would have "Caucasian" and "ethnic". I only want "Caucasian." Not "Ethnic." Is there a way to cut off the "parent" KW in LR4 like was done in LR2?"

Lightroom :: Importing Keywords - Missing In Metadata

I do see Keywording and Keywrod List, but there does not appear to be anywhere here to add an entire list with heirarchy levels.  What am I missing?

Lightroom :: Importing From External HD - Will Keywords And Captions Show Up?

Jan 24, 2013

Having a D100 camera and keywords filled out in Nikon View IPTC... would importing into Lightroom show up my keywords and captions?  I neglected to add that I would not be importing them from my computer HD, but from a external HD. All my past work was done on a Gateway PC.  Lightroom will probably be put on a new Mac.  I also have all these photos archived on CDs. Will this change things?  Will my keywords and captions still show up upon import?  If importing from an external HD blocks this, what can I do, what program can I add that will get my metadata across?

Lightroom :: Keyword Hierarchy Corrupted With Every Export

Nov 5, 2011

Why oh why when I export any image from one folder to another do I end up with most keywords applied to that image written to my hierarchical keyword list as a new 1st level keyword and not under the parent keyword as they should be?  I've tried everything. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit, with the latest LR 3.  Export Synonyms, Include on Export, Export containing keywords are all checked with all the keywords and I've unchecked the Write Keywords as Hierarchy in the Export dialogue. With every export I have to clean up my keyword list and I'm at wits end with wasted hours.

Lightroom :: Export Resized Photos As New Catalog With Keyword Hierarchy

Dec 31, 2013

I want a new catalog with small jpgs and the hierarchical keywords. But I seem to be able to get each part of that individually but I can't seem to get them all at the same time.

If I select images and export them with "Write Keywords as Lightroom Hierarchy" checked, then import those new jpgs into a new catalog, my keywords are a flat list without the hierarchy. I tried exporting my keyword hierarchy as *.txt then importing it into an empty catalog so the hierarchy already existed. When I imported the new jpgs into that catalog, the keywords still came in as a flat list appended to the hierarchical keyword list.

I tried selecting the images and importing as a new catalog, which gives me a new catalog, but the new catalog has the original raw images.

Or do you have to commit to one program or the other?

Lightroom :: How Keywords Got Scrambled

Dec 20, 2012

Some how my keywords got scrambled. The first thing I'd like to do is move a keyword from its new (incorrect) location as a sub-keyword back to being a parent keyword of a hierarchy. I have tried dragging and dropping it but it immediately returns to its incorrect location. I considered creating a new keyword as a parent keyword (the same word), then open the images linked to the misplaced keyword and drag all the images to the newly created parent keyword. Then empty and delete the misplaced sub-keyword. But...I fear loosing links to collections, vitual copies, etc. for all the images. best method for returning the keywords to their original placement in the hierachy.

Lightroom :: Exporting Keywords In V5?

Nov 5, 2013

I recently converted from Lightroom 4 to 5.  I just noticed that not all my keywords are exported to my jpeg file.  For example I have the following keywords in Lightroom; Horizontal, Landscape, National Forest, Scenic.  My exported jpeg has only the keyword Landscape.

In the Library Module, when I click on the dropdown Keyword Tags and select "Will Export", I only see the keyword Landscape.  I'm not sure what this "feature" is all about. I need to be able to export all keywords.

This problem seems to be consistent and I have a test file set up so I can repeat the problem.  Only certain keywords are not exported.
