I have set up a metadat preset to apply IPTC data to images on import. When I used this, with the Painter Tool, to update existing images they lost their keyword tags. What can I do to add the copyright to lots of images and keep their existing keywords?
View 1 RepliesI'm creating a catalog with images from a group of photographers. Their image files already include metadata. I want that metadata to be imported with the images so I have the keywords, captions and other info that the photographers have already added to them.

add keywords & metadata to an extremely large group of photos in Lightroom 4. The intern will have their own workstation so we'll be passing files back and forth. I need to add their work to mine, keeping all of the keyword/metadata work tied to the virtual photos which already have some work done to them (some keywords, metatdata and photo enhancements already in place on some photos).

However - as described in Lightroom support - in Library under Metadata, I do not see the option for "Importing Keywords." I do see Keywording and Keywrod List, but there does not appear to be anywhere here to add an entire list with heirarchy levels. What am I missing?

I'm a photographer but not all that computer savy. In fact unless I'm wrong just discovered that running images through "Save for web" in PS6 removes metadata as well so images load faster. That's what I want to do but it seems time consuming.
So my question is in the export function of LR4 is removing the metadata there doing the same thing because if so it would be tons faster.
I have read that adding keywords to the metadata helps you find a photo you are looking for from a large library of images. My questions is...
can you add keywords to you photos to help search spiders to find them and display them on search results?
I have just transferred all my photos from an PC (microsoft) to an iMac. At the same time I upgraded from elements 5 to version 11. Before doing the transfer I saved all the tags to the metadata. On the iMac both the tags and the keywords in the metadata are all in place but when I do a search on a particular tag, only a small number of the relevant photos (the most recent) are found.

As soon as I apply a keyword to images they instantly disappear from the collection. This is alright when I only want to apply a single keyword, but how do I stop it happening when I want to apply multiple keywords to the same image(s)?

Trying to make sure my cllients do not have access to my shooting details. IE: shutter speed, F stop etc.
I do not want to remove metadata individually as I have 100's of images to work with.
Is there a one click method to doing this or a way to do it through batch process?
It was mentioned on this forum that there's a 3rd party software but it's hard to believe that this cant be easily done in Photoshop.

I am having a problem with LR 4.2 in correcting chromatic aberation. When I try to use the "defringe tool" I receive the following error message, "Cannot set the purple or green fringe color. Please sample a representative fringe color agian." However, I can see the sampled pixel in the pallette and read the RGB values.

Short explanation, it's not the same.I don'd know what I did but I dont have the regular spot removel tool.WHen I shoot the spot removal tool the cursor dissapear when I get over the picture like it hides behind the image.When I click I get a very tiny circle and when I drag it makes an arrow. WHat is up with that?
now the spot removing tool is completely useless.
As far as I can tell, Copy Metadata and Synchonize Metadata do the same thing. Is there a difference in what they do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a ton of seamless images I want to make most into tile in this or that project but I don't want to make them all into .pat files because I hate hunting up .pat files plus if I am in the middle of a project with 25 layers. I want to simple pull in the image I want and use it without having to close everything to make a pat file then reopen the project I am on and have to hunt down my pat file to load it to use.
Now I have moved on to using 3D > New Title Painting which works great on a simple layer I need to turn a seamless tile into a pattern for that one project. However I am having one problem. Say I am working on a project where all the layers must be 2500 x 2500 pixels (for example) and I pull in an images onto one of the layers. Can I do one of the two:
Can I set photoshop cs5 to let me have different size layers in one project so the title paint can see image size it wants?
Can I set the title painter to have it set my layer size?
The problem I have is when I pull in a seamles image into a layer then make it a smart shape so I can resize it, make it smaller, then use title painter it makes spaces between the tiles.
With the same folder open in Scrapbook and Connect side by side within Draw as a test , PSD and RIF thumbnails are visible in Scrapbook but not visible in Connect.
I would prefer to use Connect over Scrapbook but these are the two main file types I use.
Is there a way to view Painter RIF and PSD thumbnails in Corel Connect?

As some know, it comes on the installation CD of PSPX3.
Quite simply, three seconds after double clicking the program icon, I get this. I'm on the second installation. Patches won't install. I get the message " product that needs to be updated not found" or something similar.
I have just installed a new computer when my old one died. I had everything backed up and have managed to successfully restore my lightroom catalogue.
I can see all my photos and all the adjustment history and I can see my library of keywords. However, none of my photos show the key words that I previously assigned to them.
I am not sure whether there is a file that I need to restore from the backup somewhere.
when you create a line with the pen tool then add an extra anchor point, how do you move that point without the handles creating a curve.
Can you remove the handles?
When i try to upgrade to LR5 I see the keywords are missing. Eevn when I import them again, no keywords...With about 275.000 images keyworded in LR3-4...
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am very happy with some 200 keywords that I use in PSE10 under Win7/64 on over 20k images. Is it possible, in LR4, to pick up files with keywords written to metadata, and work with them in LR4 (selection, editing, etc.) WITHOUT damaging or "upgrading" the PSE10 catalog? If yes, could PSE10 pick up keywored changes made in LR4?
Or do you have to commit to one program or the other?
Why do keywords sometimes "jump" out of the master tag folder and line up alphabetically outside their assigned set?

The first thing I'd like to do is move a keyword from its new (incorrect) location as a sub-keyword back to being a parent keyword of a hierarchy. I have tried dragging and dropping it but it immediately returns to its incorrect location. I considered creating a new keyword as a parent keyword (the same word), then open the images linked to the misplaced keyword and drag all the images to the newly created parent keyword. Then empty and delete the misplaced sub-keyword. But...I fear loosing links to collections, vitual copies, etc. for all the images. best method for returning the keywords to their original placement in the hierachy.

If I add the jpgs to my catalog and then add the keywords, those keywords are not written to the jpgs when I close Lightroom. The reason I don't want them is that I actually want to re-do all of my keywords/imports. I know it's a big pain, but I feel that it needs to be done, as I've learned how to do things more properly (in theory).

I recently converted from Lightroom 4 to 5. I just noticed that not all my keywords are exported to my jpeg file. For example I have the following keywords in Lightroom; Horizontal, Landscape, National Forest, Scenic. My exported jpeg has only the keyword Landscape.
In the Library Module, when I click on the dropdown Keyword Tags and select "Will Export", I only see the keyword Landscape. I'm not sure what this "feature" is all about. I need to be able to export all keywords.
This problem seems to be consistent and I have a test file set up so I can repeat the problem. Only certain keywords are not exported.
I want to delete some keywords and cant find the source for that task.
