View 1 RepliesOccassionally the object properties in my object manager will dissappear and I am unable to bring them back. I have tried toggling all the buttons on the manager, restarting corel, resetting corel to it's default settings and restarting my computer but nothing will bring back the properties. It does not happen on every single file but it happens often enough to be a pain. I have attached a picture of what the object manager looks like.
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, every panel is now missing it's associated menu bar. I've tried doing research for a command to restore them using a MEL command, but to no avail. I did nothing to remove them in the first place.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have installed Maya 2014 SP4 at home, this is a fresh install and was just trying to see if there are any problems with the new SP before I install it at work.
But for some reason, the install went OK, but when I looked under the Render settings there is no MentalRay, and then looking in the Plugins list, there are none there either?
When attempting to apply a Smoke Dynamic to a piece of geometry I am getting an error about missing a spritesmoke.mel.
Here is the log read out.

I have placed a few lights in my scene. But I am unable to see and select the lights in my Top Viewport. It's beginning to slow my work process.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAbout 1 in 3 times I start up Maya 2012, some of the shelves are either missing or are empty. For example, sometimes the "Polygons" shelf is completely missing, or else it is there but its contents are empty. If I close Maya and restart it, then they shelves will load up fine. Is there any fix to this?
I delete my preferences and start with new ones. This is a very fresh install, and I also had this problem with a previous install of 2012. And it does load up correctly sometimes so the preferences should be correct...right?
1. I click on Maya to open. Icon bounces and loads.
2. Maya loading window appears.
3. Maya finishes loading and 1 minute startup movies appears.
4. Menu bar for Maya appears at top of screen.
5. Nothing else appears.
6. See attached pic. Notice the menus bar at top and no animation windows on desktop
TROUBLESHOOTING I HAVE TRIED:
1. I reinstalled Maya 2014 with SP3 and reactivated the licensing.
2. Restarted computer several times.
3. Tried opening old scenes.
4. Tried opening new
COMPUTER INFO:
MacBook Pro 15 Inch 1TB flash harddrive with turbo boost to 3.8.
SOFTWARE INFO:
Running Maya 2014 SP3 package.
I just downloaded de Maya 2013 bonus tools, and when I use the auto unwrap tool, the buttons that used to cut, select, continue even cancel dont show; but the "click area" still works, the problem is to find it
In Maya 2012, this plugin works fine unfortunately I dont have access to that version anymore.
What's up with the Show Manipulator Tool in Maya 2014? On my system, the tool is not showing up in the toolbar. There's just a blank spot where the icon used to be. The tool is still accessible via the General Shelf.

That way, I could use a small sphere in say the Elbow as a controller, and it could be inside the mesh but not hidden. Much like what you see here:

This is a clean install of Maya 2012 on Windows 7 64-bit, with no previous versions having ever been installed on here.
I've tried reinstalling it multiple times, and the issues still persist. I've also tried reinstalling Python multiple times.
Is there a way to select either vertices on a polygon or points on a curve and create an object at those points?
The snapping of objects to curve points isn't very accurate, so if possible, the above would greatly speed up my workflow.

i created a sphere that will control the rotation of the fingers. i align the sphere to the bone so it has the same angles. the bone angle is 0,0,0 but the sphere is (15, 10.23, 2)if i freeze the sphere, the angle get 0,0,0 but they get align with the world axis as X Y Z, how can i 0,0,0 and maintain the align rotation of the bone?
in Softimage there is something call set neutral pose, only change the angle displays to zero so the animator dont have a hard time.
I have just imported an FBX file fron sketchup, the manipulator handles for move, scale and rotate are really far away from the model, how can I move the handles so that it is in the centre of the model?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI imported a character model that I downloaded off of the internet into maya, and I have run into a snag as I'm rigging, skin binding, etc. The model has a main body, but its armor is actually separate geometry. My problem is that the shoulder pads and leg armor are mirrored, so that when one moves, the other one does as well, which is a big problem when I want to animate the model. Is there a simple way to split the pieces up so that they are not mirroring each other? My guess is that they were originally created that way so that each side didn't have to be individually worked on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an animated character from which at a certain point i need an object to be 'detached' from the character and animated on its own, problem is as soon as i want to manipulate that part of the character i get this gray manipulator tool that tells me nothing will move, should i give up my whole dream upon this? Maybe i should have visibility turned and switch to a duplicate up to that point in the timeline, problem is i havent been able to move a duplicate either so far, back to hell.

How the facial rig has been made but I have this plane which has stubble on it. I want it to be fixed in one location but follow the deformation of the jaw when it moves. The controller which is used to move the jaw down is already there, I just need to get it to deform this plane.

** When i select an object Maya tends to ignore the foreground object you'd intuitively think it should select and instead selects the bottom-most / farthest back object (eg. instead of selecting the foreground sphere it selects the flat plane the sphere sits on top of).
I've updated my graphics driver to the latest available and yet still the nuisance occurs. I am able to select any desired object however i must rotate the view so that the object has no other items behind it (eg. the viewport is tilted towards the empty sky).
Is this some useless setting in Maya that happened to activate? I've already used Preferences to reset to defaults but no good.
I have a large object from which 3 small legs protrude out as in the 1st picture. The faces of each of these legs are at a slight angle in world coordinates.
I have a small cylinder which I want to snap to a face seen in picture 1. My problem is that I simply don't know how to snap the cylinder's side to the face. As you can see in picture 2, a part of the cylinder is in the object, the other part is outside of the object.
I know I could use the rotate tool, but I want perfect face alignment.

I activated the Poly Count from the Display Menu; but it shows the components that are in the view at the moment. I'd like to know instead if there is a way to display the number of the components selected.
