I made the mistake of moving the pictures to another folder (using Windows Explorer) after I had done some editing. I've noticed that after I moved them, I lost every edit I had made. Is there any way of recovering those edits?

I have transferred some folders from my internal drive to an external (FW) drive. Whereas most of the transfer worked fine, I had the following problems:
Â
- one folder (at least) completely disappeared from LR. The files were moved to the new HDD (I can see them in Finder), an empty folder remains in LR under the "old" drive and there is nothing in LR at the new position.

- an empty structure remained at the location of the old files

- on some folders, I had the message "could not complete the folder move..." and only part of the pictures (or none at all) were moved.
I went to pull an image for a vendor. I added a few to the quick collection. Fine right? Now when I look through the master files in the hierarchy, ALL of the edits are lost, including color labels, starring, flagging, etc. The only images that were not affected are any duplicates that I converted to black and white.I swear I did not change a thing with the catalog or moving files on disk etc. Can I import from an older backup of a catalog to restore my edits?
View 3 Replies View RelatedDid a bunch of edits to some photos in a particlular folder. Went to another folder and did the same. When I went back to the original folder, all the last edits I did were gone.

And, LR5 Develop Module is way slower than 4.
On opening Lightroom 4.1 it appears to have reverted back to how it was a few months and so I lost all of the images I was working on. On reimporting them back into Lightroom, this was performed quickly as if perhaps they were remembered, however all ratings and edits remained lost. Do you know if it is possible to recover these?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have quite a large amount of original raw files that I need to move off the internal hard drive. I now have 2 external drives that mirror each other for storing the files more securely, and have already copied all the raw files (quite a long process) over. I tried to setup a new catalog for the new workflow, not thinking that Lightroom doesn't mess with the original files, and have lost all my edits. I still have the original catalog and all the raw files still on my internal HD, but what I need to know is how to move it over and keep the edits? Do I really have to redo everything in lighroom directly?

View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I was importing pictures. I followed the same process I have always used with LR. I have LR4.2. In the process, three folders were created and in two of them, 2 subfolders were created. These are primarily stored on a Drobo. After all the imports, I immediately backed up the Drobo to another HD. When I went to show my wife the pictures today, none of the folders, subfolders or pictures could be found. What LR did show me was that on the backup drive, there appeared all folders and subfolders but all had a question mark on them. All the picture previews are there. When I right click, one of the options is "Find missing Folder". They don't seem to exist. Unfortunately, I erased one of my cards from my D800E after I had backed up the files. When I try to re-import from the other cards, LR identifies all the pictures as suspect duplicates. I have never had this happen before and I have been a LR user from the beginning! What happened to the folders and files? How can I re-import from the cards that still have the pictures.Â

Lightroom 4.3 now shows thumbnails of all my photos, none of my folders in the catalog window, all of my saved collections. What's the most efficient way of getting LR to link my catalog to my newly-located (internal) photos file?
After my internal HDD became full with over 30,000 DNGs, I moved all my photos along with the catalogue to my external drive. Now when I open LR, not only do I have to reimport the catalogue every time, but all my develop settings are gone! Hundreds of hours down the drain. Why has this happened, and is there any way I can retrieve them? I'm using v3.4.

Sometimes the filmstrip will not allow me to click and drag and change the order of pictures in the filmstrip. The pics are locked in place. It allows me to drag an image to a new position in the filmstrip but when I "unclick" the pic just moves back to its original position. Other times a black bar appears between the pics where I want to move the pic and I can rearrange the order of pics. I cant figure out why I can do this sometimes and sometimes the filmstrip wont allow me to change order.

Also, I can move pics in one file while not being able to move them in another. So it not some universal setting but seems to be file (catalog) specific.
I installed the Lightroom catalog etc. into the Pictures folder as that is the default setting.However, I don't want all the previews clogging up my Pictures folder, so would like to move the catalog, previews etc. to a new folder, but can't figure out how to do it properly.

One of the folders containing 1124 raw photos from a corporate shoot is now labeled as missing after an error message during the move (didn't write down the exact message). I initiated the move process within the LR library, by selecting all photos within about 150 folders inside a master "my photos" folder on the internal hard drive displayed in the library module of LR. I then dragged them into the new "my photos" folder I created on the external drive which was displaying inside the LR library module. Â

First question, this moving process is progressing so slowly, at a rate of about one picture every second. is this normal?Â

Second question: When I open the external drive by clicking on the drive itself, outside LR, it seems the pictures are flowing in without any of the original subfolder structure that was present on the internal drive.Is something wrong that I don't see the subfolders on the external drive? I want to preserve this structure and of course see it show up in the LR library for the external drive.
Lost pictures in JPEG. pictures in raw files ok. Never moved pictures to revel. JPEG shows broken file. Search on computer shows old file with no pitures. Did not move pictures since I never put anywhere but on my computer I didnt think I had to. Elements 8.Â
