I restarted Windows 7 while elements 12 was open and now almost half of my pictures folders and their contents are gone. Not on the hard drive or in the recycle bin. I got to get them back.
View 4 RepliesYesterday, I was importing pictures. I followed the same process I have always used with LR. I have LR4.2. In the process, three folders were created and in two of them, 2 subfolders were created. These are primarily stored on a Drobo. After all the imports, I immediately backed up the Drobo to another HD. When I went to show my wife the pictures today, none of the folders, subfolders or pictures could be found. What LR did show me was that on the backup drive, there appeared all folders and subfolders but all had a question mark on them. All the picture previews are there. When I right click, one of the options is "Find missing Folder". They don't seem to exist. Unfortunately, I erased one of my cards from my D800E after I had backed up the files. When I try to re-import from the other cards, LR identifies all the pictures as suspect duplicates. I have never had this happen before and I have been a LR user from the beginning! What happened to the folders and files? How can I re-import from the cards that still have the pictures.

I have transferred some folders from my internal drive to an external (FW) drive. Whereas most of the transfer worked fine, I had the following problems:
- one folder (at least) completely disappeared from LR. The files were moved to the new HDD (I can see them in Finder), an empty folder remains in LR under the "old" drive and there is nothing in LR at the new position.
- an empty structure remained at the location of the old files
- on some folders, I had the message "could not complete the folder move..." and only part of the pictures (or none at all) were moved.
pictures are in Adobe but not in the file folder under date. How do I connect the pictures to their folder?

Prior to my purchase, I chatted with an Adobe techie to make sure Elements 12 would properly overwrite/remove Elements 9 currently on my computer and replace it with the Elements 12. I was assured this would be the case, it wasn't. Not only do I still have Elements 9 on my system but, when my pictures were transferred from Elements 9 to 12, they were all transferred as single thumbnail pictures instead of the Folders containing specific pictures. I don't relish the thought of creating new Folders and transfering close to a thousand pictures pertaining to a specific Folder that were in my Elements 9. Just wondering if the download of Elements 12 was really successful based upon what happened.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to have the organizer folders set up the same was as Windows Explorer? I have a main folder called Family with sub folders for all the years and in each of the subfolders there could be other subfolders. It wouldn't allow me to click on main folder and get all sub folders. I had to open main folder and then it shows all folders and sub folders separately. They are no longer nested.
Along the same lines, I wanted to create an album of Family with all subfolders, but that doesn't work.that is definitely a short coming which is why I never have used the organizer program, but just PSE for editing.
Due to reinstalling VideoStudio 10 Plus because of a reported problem with Service Pack 1 [URL], I have lost the clips I placed in special Library Manager folders I had created. Are those gone for good or is there a way to relocate them on my computer?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had LR 3 then upgraded to LR 4 and everything was fine. My hard drive crashed last week so had to have it replaced. my images were safe on my Drobo. I got my pc back today and am reinstalling all my software. I reinstalled LR3 then went to adobe and downloaded my upgrade to LR4. When I started LR4 it asked if I wanted to update all of my LR3 files so they would be compatible with LR4 and I said yes. I think that was my mistake. Now I can see all my old files but none of my images or folders from the time I upgraded to LR4 until now. How do I view all of my more current folders and images? I haven't moved any of them...they were all on my Drobo and are still there so it's not that I moved the files outside of LR.

I need to move a bunch of pictures located in different sub-folders on Drive C: to my new 2Tb Drive D:
I try to move it in LR via the import function with MOVE. But, they are all greyed out (not selectable) and when I try to move 1-by-1 by right-clicking on a picture, a message is displayed telling me that the picture is already in the catalogue. I know it is already in the catalogue. All I need to do is to move it to another HDD.
How would you do this? I have just thought of deleting all files in the catalogue and import them then, but it just does not feel right.
I use a file structure in lightroom with subfolders within folders to organize photos; some of these top level folders contain many thousands of pictures; I have found that any top level folder with greater than 3000 photos will no open, and therefore all photos within that top level folder are not searchable. When I try opening such a large folder, the phrase "no photos in selected folder" is displayed. This has never been happened in LR3, but is happening in LR4. Folders less than abour 2500 photos can be opened and searched easily.

It imports it flat, with every subfolder and parent folder listed on the same level, so my organisation is shot to hell. View 1 Replies View RelatedI tired importing photos from one folder and about 300-400 of them weren't imported (out of about 1,000). I deleted them and tried again. Same thing. On the third try it imported all of them.My thought was maybe it's going to take more time importing images from my folders than learning to use the program. I can't learn the program if it keeps dropping images. I tried another directory of about 3,000 images but it only accepted about 300 of them. No matter how many times I tried, it would only import 300 out of the whole batch. These are good jpg files that all my other programs have no trouble with.

It seems to have only happened to recent photos and the older ones I think are ok. I am using PSE 9. I recently had to switch external hard drives and reconnect my catalog to the new hard drive. But that seemed to be OK except for losing most of the tags on my photos. When I tried to import missing files (because they are still on the harddrive) I get the message that the files already exist. However they are not showing in the files they are supposed to be in. I don't know what to do, I have a very large catalog which includes lots of digital scrapbook downloaded files.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSomehow my Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 has been corrupted. The photos I added are scattered throughout several folders. And when I open a file, the wrong folder name appears at the top of the display. It seems to have pushed files down through the folder tree, moving previous files into folders that are about 5 folders down. I was going to reinstall, but I received a warning upon "uninstallation" that I need to deactivate my access number, but I don't know how to do that.
